Predestination is Not God Selecting Winners and Losers

~ “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. For He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His presence. In love He predestined us for adoption as His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the Beloved One.” Ephesians 1:3-6

~ Hebrews and Gentiles are saved the same way, through Faith in Jesus Himself. And when we place Faith in Him, it was God’s choice (will) that makes us Holy and blameless in His presence and He adopts us as sons of God. That was God’s choice to do that for us, all who come to Christ through Faith in Him. God doesn’t pick individual winners and losers as far as salavtion is concerned. Everyone is given a choice themselves. They can either accept Jesus as God in the flesh, who took away all their sins at the cross or decide not to. But it is their decesion one way or the other. And either decision has eternal consequences.

Bible Study Books

Bob George discusses theological issues on his radio show, addressing questions from callers. He emphasizes the importance of understanding the Book of Ephesians, which he believes clearly states that election is for both HEBREWS and Gentiles. He criticizes the idea that salvation is by getting sins forgiven, arguing instead that it is through faith in Christ’s life and resurrection. “Mark, I’d stay away from the church idea altogether. What I would try to do is to find some people in a home Bible study where you’re not bogged up with a denomination of any kind, but you’re in a home Bible study, and we can help you. I’m sure there’s some people there in the Pittsburgh area that we can put you in contact with and get into a neutral setting, a neutral setting that’s not denominational. It’s not Catholic. It’s not Protestant. It’s a Bible study. You know, honey, you you don’t have any objection about studying the Bible, do you? No. You don’t have any objection about learning about Jesus, do you? Why no? Well, then let’s go to this Bible study and see what the Bible says not what our denomination says, but what the Bible says, and you ground yourself in a good Bible study, and Mark, I’ll guarantee you, she will come to know the Lord. But the average Catholic that I know, even though they’re not practicing, they have a heart for God. They know Jesus is God. Don’t have to argue, you know, virgin birth with them, but they’ve been mistaught, and so you get into a study where we’re not here to study Catholicism, we’re not here to study Protestantism, we’re here to study the Word of God, and if her heart’s open, she’ll be responsive to that.” ~ Bob George
