Stand in the Sabbath Rest of Jesus Today

~ Therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a feast, a New Moon, or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the body that casts it belongs to Christ.” Colassions 2:16,17

~ Be sure to enter the Sabbath Rest, and don’t let anyone judge you based on what you do in life regarding what they perceive “proper” religion to be. There are folks who try to judge you based on what you eat or drink, or even if you do not attend a traditional “church” building, as though that is what makes a Christian a Christian. And quite frankly, there are very few today that preach the finality of the cross. To most, they have no clue about the total propitiation of sins at the cross. They give lip service to the actual words of God. And when you point out to them the Truth that God was in Christ reconciling the whole world to Himself and is no longer counting anyone’s sins against them, they typically will react in one of two ways: with defiance, or by thinking you have lost it and are crazy for even saying it, totally dismissing the message of Truth. Every once in a while, you do meet a person that accepts it with open arms, thanking Jesus for what He had done on the cross for them. And they are thankful that you have shared TRUTH with them. But as to the others, don’t let those people that are still stuck under the law place judgment on you. In essence, do not even worry about what they think. It doesn’t matter what they think. All that matters is what TRUTH has to say. “Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10

“For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For whoever enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from His. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.” Hebrews 4:8-11

In this Classic Christianity Radio episode, Bob George answers call‑in questions on several theological and practical topics. He first discusses life after death with Barbara, rejecting “soul sleep” and arguing from Scripture and the transfiguration that believers are immediately present with the Lord in glorified bodies, gaining rather than losing completeness at death. With Brendan, he critiques much contemporary Christian music as shallow and self-focused compared to older Christ-centered hymns, while acknowledging some strong modern songs like “Shout to the Lord.” To Darlene, who is troubled by Old Testament animal sacrifices as an animal lover, he explains that the shedding of blood was a temporary provision because sin’s wage is death, pointing forward to Jesus’ final, once‑for‑all human sacrifice. Responding to Justin about Seventh‑day Adventists and Sabbath observance, Bob cites Colossians to say Old Testament Sabbaths were shadows and that New Testament believers enter a continual rest in Christ rather than being bound to a specific day or food laws. With Louis, he explores differing views of the resurrection and rapture, maintaining that those who die in Christ are already with Jesus (likely in glorified bodies) and that “the dead in Christ” are not sleeping in graves. Finally, in response to Jason’s question on denominations and Bible translations, Bob explains that the New Testament is based on Greek manuscripts, most denominations freely use multiple translations, and that the main structural difference in Catholic Bibles is the inclusion of the apocrypha, which he does not regard as Scripture.

Or a Sabbath day, these that includes the Sabbath day is a shadow of the things that were to come. The reality, however, is found in Christ, and so the Sabbath day in the Old Testament was a day of the week. The Sabbath rest for us is every day of the week. Wouldn’t you hate to think, Justin, that the only time you worship God was on Saturday or Sunday? In other words, as you leave either Saturday or Sunday, you say, “Bye, Bill, bye, Mary, bye, God, and go home. And that’s ridiculous. The Sabbath is no longer a day of the week. The Sabbath is every day of the week, but it’s a rest that we enter into, where we rest from our works, we’re told just as he did from his. It’s resting no longer trying to keep the law because the scripture tells you you can’t, and you’re no longer under the law. They are under the law. They have regulations on eating and drinking. They have regulations on religious festivals. They have regulations on the Sabbath day. Every one of these covered in the second chapter of Corinthians, and so Justin, it is not it is not a religion that is based upon the truth of the New Testament. Okay, brother. Okay, all right. Well, Justin, I hope that helps, my brother. If you got any further questions, write us.
