Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Reality of The Resurrection P5 (11-17-21)
The Ministry of the Holy Spirit
A Closer Look at The Reality of The Resurrection and A Closer Look at The Finality of The Cross go hand in hand. Consider picking up both of these books as Bob George teaches about the ministry of the Holy Spirit. These bible study books are part of our Closer Look Series of books designed to be used in individual bible study or in group study sessions.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10
9 However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived” —
the things God has prepared for those who love him—10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
The love of God is too big to just be experienced by the eyes or ears, but it must be revealed by the Holy Spirit. It is the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. You must be born again before you can understand spiritual things. Natural man can not understand the things of God. They sound foolish to him. Religion can’t teach you what it means either. Even when the Living Word, Jesus, came onto the scene to show the people what the written word means, they rejected Him. They nailed Jesus on the cross because the Living Word didn’t match up to their false interpretations of the written word of God.
People refuse to humble themselves before God and receive Grace. They think they know what something means, yet they refuse to come to Jesus for life. Pride prohibits a person from receiving grace.
1 Corinthians 2:11-16
11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. 14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments,16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord
so as to instruct him?”
But we have the mind of Christ.
Many people when they first start listening to the teaching, they would get angry. But as they allow the Holy Spirit to teach them truth, an amazing transformation occurs. People who have been taught by men all their lives, need to be taught by God. The bible study booklets will help guide you in all truth. These studies force you to get into the Word of God and the Truth that will set you free.
The Holy Spirit is the same Spirit that lives in all believers. Those in Christ Jesus are born of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit will teach you all truth. The natural man can not accept the things of God. The lost person is dead. Everyone is born dead to begin with their physical birth. The only one ever born alive Spiritually was Jesus. The only one that had a life to lay down for us is Jesus. For He was the only one that had a life to lay down in the first place.
All men are dead and are in need of life.
John 6:63
63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.
Only the Spirit can give life. The flesh can’t do it. Flesh and blood can not inherit the Kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 15:50)
John 3:5
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
A person must be born of the Spirit. They must be born again of the Spirit of God!
Bob tells the story about his daughter, Debbie being pregnant with a child and what it means to be born of the flesh. It’s a must to listen story to understand how we are living physically in our mother’s womb before we are born and how that compares to being born of the Holy Spirit in our being born again of the Spirit. We must be tied to the Holy Spirit to have life in Him. Jesus becomes everything to us when a person becomes born again.
Bob then teaches more about the Holy Spirit. Acts 5:3
The Holy Spirit is God. The Father, The Son and Holy Spirit is God. God is One and consists of three persons. You can not separate one from the other. God.
Isaiah 43:11-12
11 I, even I, am the Lord,
and apart from me there is no savior.
12 I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—
I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “that I am God.
