If God Be For Us – Part 1 – 9-01-25
~ “What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
When God is working things out for our good, He is doing it because He Loves us and wants us to know that when God is for us, nothing can impact us for all eternity. For if God is for us, who can be against us?. But we will face all types of tribulations in life. And through these tribulations we grow in Christ Jesus. He knows and understands what we are going through, and he is right there with us, and in Us who are in Christ Jesus. He knows what we are feeling and what we are facing all the time. And through it all, His discipline (training) remains upon us all the time, so that we will come to fully understand Him and what the ultimate plan of God is for each of us.
We are given assignments in life. And when the Holy Spirit is directing our paths, we will indeed face persecution in life. And sometimes we will respond in the flesh, what seemingly seems to us to be good ways, and other times in bad ways, but we overstepped our driver (the Holy Spirit) both times, and decided to go down the road the wrong way, headed for an oncoming crash. It’s interesting, that when you know you are listening to the Holy Spirit, it will align with Scripture. Most times, people around you will not understand. They will most likely be turned off by you. For you may not want to watch Tell-a-Vision shows anymore, or stop going to the movies, or not following sports anymore, or even other things which are commonplace for the world to do. And when you try to explain to people, that the Holy Spirit doesn’t want you doing certain things, they will not understand.
It’s interesting times we live in today. There is major deception all around us, and most have no clue what is happening in the world today. All the nations are deceived beyond measure in this little season of deception. And if you as a child of God could not see that for yourself in 2020 (the term 2020 vision is not a coincidence by the way) for example, where the whole world was falling apart, then that simply brings into question are you really trusting in God, or trusting in the teaching of Man? Most people are not paying any attention to the details at all. And this statement is true both in the Word of God (for God clearly states things that are TRUE) and are given to us directly in the word of God, and the lies of what is happening in the world are also exposed to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. People want to believe what they believe regardless if it is Truth or not. They lean on their own understanding. And when you confront them with satan’s lies, they deny what their own eyes see and what their own ears hear, and would rather believe satan’s lies than the Truth of the Word of God.
Yet to those who are in Christ Jesus, there will be discipline on the child of God no matter what. And the more that a person fights the discipline of God, the more unlikable God’s training will be for them. They will be arguing with God. And their flesh will be having fits as though they let their flesh control them (and they do).

God Disciplines His Sons For Our Good (Hebrews 12:4-12)
4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5 And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons:
“My son, do not take lightly the discipline of the Lord,
and do not lose heart when He rebukes you.
6 For the Lord disciplines the one He loves,
and He chastises every son He receives.”
7 Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? 8 If you do not experience discipline like everyone else, then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. 9 Furthermore, we have all had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we respected them. Should we not much more submit to the Father of our spirits and live?
10 Our fathers disciplined us for a short time as they thought best, but God disciplines us for our good, so that we may share in His holiness. 11 No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields a harvest of righteousness and peace to those who have been trained by it.
12 Therefore strengthen your limp hands and weak knees. 13 Make straight paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.

Does TRUTH matter? You bet it does. ALL TRUTH matters.
…..
And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.
~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12
~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26

Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ “So we need to quit complaining all the time, always complaining about, woe is me and how I don’t have this thank start thanking God for what you do have. Think of all the blessings you have, and think of how ridiculous it is for us to be sitting around in woe is me attitudes in the midst of what all we have. The most impoverished person in this country lives better than the blessed the most blessed in other countries. But we need our mind renew, don’t we? Do we need reminder to these things? Of course we do. That’s why I wrote them. If my mind could pick that up on my own, because I’m so brilliant, he wouldn’t need to write this. This book is what’s called a Book of Discipline, a discipleship. What is discipleship? Discipline. It’s to discipline my mind, because my mind gets messed up and it gets all messed up and thinking ought to be getting more than what I get and and we got our eyes on other people and what they have, instead of praising God for what we have, there’s no excuse for it, my friends, God says, if you’ll let me, I will work all things together for good.” ~ Bob George

Bob George 0:29
Well, let’s turn together to the book of Romans, chapter eight, we’re going to pick up in verse 28 and we hope. And then what it says, Hmm, isn’t that amazing? Okay, and we know now, is there a difference in the two? Guys what we were talking about earlier? God wants us to know things. And I want to tell you you’re not going to know things by just listening to what some man tells you you’re going to know when God teaches you, and this is the instrument that he uses to teach you. It’s called the Bible. It’s His word that He dictated into the hearts of the apostles, who, through them, as well as their amanuensis, was able to give us truth that sets us free. And he wants us to know these things, not to just know about them, but to know them. And so he says, and we know we know something that all things, in all things, in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose, we know that in all things, God will work them together for our good. Now, how many of you have ever been through some trials and tribulation in your life? Okay, that’s all of us. Now, what is the only thing that we know in the midst of that trial and tribulation? Because if we knew how to cure it, we wouldn’t have any longer, would we? So if you’re in a jam of some kind, in other words, if you knew how to get out of it, you’d be out of it. So what do you do in the midst of it? According the Word of God? Know something. What does he want you to know? Relax. I’ll cause it to work together for your good. I’ll teach you something in the midst of this trial that will enable you to have purpose in your life.
I remember getting a call, and I’ve shared this before, but it’s such a touching story, because it was a true one of a radio listener that called in, a little girl from Kentucky. She called in, and in the midst of the conversation, explained to me that in her early life, how she had been molested by three of her uncles through her lifetime, a very, very sad story. And as we talked, she I asked her if she knew the Lord, and she came to the Lord as her Lord and Savior. And as we talked about the fact of what she had been through, as I said to her, Kathy, and as my heart breaks that you had to go through that type of thing, but I want to ask you a question, because she hadn’t accepted the Lord earlier than that. I said, Do you think you’re ever going to know any other little girls who have gone through the same thing in their lifetime? And she said, I’ve already met numerous ones like that. I said, Cathy, who do you think is going to be in a better position to reach out to them with understanding and love and compassion than yourself? And to be able to say, Honey, I know what that feels like. I went through it as well. But let me tell you how God has sustained me. God says in all things, how he will take the things that have happened to us and enable us to reach out to others and have a purpose in life. What a great God and Savior we have who will comfort us in all of our problems, so that, in turn, we can comfort others with the same comfort that we have received from God.
So you see, it doesn’t make any difference what you’ve gone through. We in this room is a unique group of people. What’s unique about us? We’ve all gone through some unique problems and some unique things in our lives that are that are just yours. They’re not like everybody else’s, but the root is the same. But what he says, I want you to trust me. I want you to realize that, if you will let me, I will cause it to work together for good.
A prison ministry in San Bernardino was launched by a couple whose wife was raped by a man, and how they went back to that man in jail, both of them and led him to Christ and told him that they loved him and Jesus loved them, and it launched a prison ministry. God worked it together for good. He didn’t cause bad to be good. He said, I’ll work it together for good. People go through divorce. Does God want divorce? No. No, did he sanction divorce? No, neither did he sanction sin, nor did he want sin, nor did he want death, but when sin entered into the world, all of those things happened. And so what he says, if you’ve been through that, is, if you’ll allow me, I’ll cause it to work together for you good. I won’t make bad good, because bad isn’t good, but I’ll cause it to work together for good, if you let me. And so we have to understand the truth of that, my friends, that this is if you’ve been called according to the purpose of God, then God’s got a purpose for you. And if you’ve been through some kind of a tough trial and tribulation, it just may be that that’s your purpose in life, is to grab a hold of this and grab a hold of the sufficiency of Christ in the midst of it, and go out and help people. You’re not the Lone Ranger. You’re not the only one that’s ever had a problem. You’re not even the only one that’s never had a problem, the one you’re going through. And so what he’s saying is, if you’ve come in called, according to His purpose, I may have a purpose for you, and it may be to take the very things that you have hurt over but have been sustained by me in the midst of it, and go out and help people, to reach out to people, to be a blessing to people, instead of sitting around with a woe is me attitude, self pity, my friends, you’re down feeling sorry for yourself.
Woe is me, poor old me. And I think poor old you doesn’t look to me like you missed a meal, doesn’t look to me like you ought to be woe is me. And you see, folks, it’s how we approach life. If I’m going to approach life that I deserve everything wonderful, wonderful me. You know, when the Bible says God loves me, no wonder, Oh, no wonder he loves me as wonderful as I am, nothing should ever bad, ever happen to me. Nothing ever should have happened to me. I should just go through life sailing as smooth as glass because I’m so wonderful. Folks, that’s ridiculous. In this world, Jesus said you’re going to have what? Ttribulation, but it says it produces character. I don’t know about you, I’ve said to God a couple of times, Lord, I’m as big a character as I need to be. I don’t need any more character. And I’m sure you said the same thing. But my friends, if you realize God’s got a purpose for you, and if it doesn’t make any difference what you’ve been through, that God can use that. It’s like many people who have been to prison are able to get a true conversion experience in prison, not a foxhole deal, but a true conversion and come out of prison and go back into prison and help people to learn how to trust the Lord. It’s got a purpose for them. And it may be that the very thing that you go through, that you hate, is the very purpose that God has for you.
So we need to quit complaining all the time, always complaining about, woe is me and how I don’t have this thank start thanking God for what you do have. Discipline. It’s to discipline my mind, because my mind gets messed up and it gets all messed up and thinking ought to be getting more than what I get and and we got our eyes on other people and what they have, instead of praising God for what we have, there’s no excuse for it, my friends, God says, if you’ll let me, I will work all things together for good.
Now, he says, for those God foreknew and Who’s he talking about here, talking about the Gentiles. Foreknowledge in the Scripture is concerning HEBREWS and Gentiles. It is not yous and mes. When God died for the sins of the whole world, He didn’t die for the elect. There is no such thing. He died for the sins of the whole world, HEBREW and Gentile alike. He’s talking to the Romans. He’s talking to Gentiles. And we know he says that those who God, He foreknew, He also predestined, who do foreknow, know? The Gentile world. He also who’s the also? The HEBREW and a Gentile. He’s already talked about the HEBREW. Now he’s saying to those he foreknew the Gentile world. He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and those He predestined the Gentiles. He also, along with the HEBREW called. Called, and those he called, along with the HEBREW, he also justified. And those he justified along with the HEBREW, the Gentile, he also glorified.
So what shall we say, then, in response to this? If God’s for us, who can be against us. Guys, I’ll tell you something that verse has carried me through more things in life than you could ever imagine. If God’s for me, who can be against me? It is absolutely amazing how a person, and I’m just they say confession is good for the soul but hard on the reputation, but how a person like myself, who is absolutely insatiably in bondage to the opinions of others. I lived for the acceptance of people. That’s why I went to the bars, as a lost person, get a lot of acceptance. Amy didn’t laugh at my jokes when I came home, but in the bars, they just were hilarious over them. Of course, nobody ever stopped to think of there so drunk, everything is funny, but I thought I was funny. And you know what happens when when you think people think you’re funny, then you think they like you, right? And you’re accepted, and they can’t wait to see you so they can get some more laughs. Like I say, they laugh you into hell, but never out of hell. But that’s why I was there. I wasn’t there because it enjoyed booze. I was there because I enjoyed the accolades of the crowd, because I could sit there and entertain them all night long with funny jokes all clean, of course. Now if you believe that I’ve got some ocean property in Arizona for you. No, no, they weren’t clean. They were just the jokes that you know, lost people laugh at, and I was good at telling them. I got a lot of acceptance.
Amy coming from Europe, I’d tell her a joke, and she just stood and looked at me, and then about a week later, started dying laughing. What are you laughing at? That joke you told last week, finally caught it. That didn’t do anything for me. Now, what I’m getting at this, folks is this that was an insatiable deal. Now, when I came to Christ, I couldn’t get I couldn’t get acceptance from the bar crowd and from my buddies, because they didn’t want to be with me anymore because I wasn’t drinking with them. I didn’t want to go the bars anymore. I didn’t have a place there anymore. Didn’t want to go. Wasn’t the case I couldn’t go. Thank God no one ever told me. See, I wasn’t around legalism, so no one ever told me, Don’t drink anymore. Thank God they didn’t. I’d have been right back in it. Why? Because the power of sin is, where? In the law, all you have to do to get someone to want to do something is tell them don’t do it. So I’m glad I wasn’t around that, but I knew I didn’t belong there anymore, so I still had that insatiable desire for acceptance.

And so what happens when you have an insatiable desire acceptance, well, you got to find it with whoever you are. So it now became the Christian crowd. And so in the Christian crowd, the ones that I came to Christ through was a very evangelical organization, Campus Crusade for Christ. You know them. And so Campus Crusade’s deal was that you can’t be truly spiritual. You can be saved, but not spiritual unless you’re witnessing. You says, I never met a never met a happy man that wasn’t witnessing. Well, I thought that’s strange, because I’m not witnessing. Don’t find myself being so miserable. But again, it didn’t make sense. But still, that was it. So what I do to get acceptance? Went out and witnessed everything that walked. And if you didn’t, you’d go out and say, I talked to 10 people today about Jesus, and 25 came to Christ. Lie out your teeth. About how many people you led to the Lord in the name of Jesus, of course. And that’s what you do. Believe me, that’s what you do.
I used to go down first Baptist Church. I’d go to visitation on Monday, visitation, and I’d get my visitation card and get in my car and go home, turn the card in later that they weren’t there or just forget to turn in. Now is that that’s is that good on reputation? Is that? Is that true, or am I telling you the truth? Yeah, I’m telling you the truth. You think I was the only one that ever did that? How many of you ever went to visitation in church? How many of you went home with a card? How many of you are lying here this morning? But folks, that got you acceptance, it got you acceptance.
It’s amazing how God works in your life to get you over those type of things. In my particular case, and I’ve shared this again with you before, but my particular case, it hit me with a meeting that I had with my son, and it was at the time when Bob was getting out of college and interviewing, and it was a very tough time interviewing. He was pretty shy at that time, not now, but he was then, and it was a hard time. And so one morning, we said, Let’s go to breakfast together. And I still remember the place we went, went to breakfast together, and we were talking, and I don’t know why the conversation or what it was about and I don’t know why Bob ever did, but he looked over at me and he said, Dad, I always knew you loved me. And I said, Yeah, Bob, I That’s true. And then I asked him a question that I had never contemplated before, and I’d never asked him before, but I said, Bob, Did you always know that I accepted you? He looked at me and he said, No. And my heart sunk on me. I said, Why, Bob? Well, dad, he said, I thought maybe that you’d have accepted me more had I gone into full time work like you did instead of real estate. And maybe I’d have gone to church more, and maybe I’d stay the Bible more and witness more and all this type of thing. My heart sunk on me because my son was right, in my acceptance was not there, to a degree, but not not where it should have been.
And then he related a story to me, and he said, you know dad? He said, You remember when we were at Campus Crusade? And he related this story. And at Campus Crusade, where I was at the headquarters, there was a guy there by the name of Lou Early, and we used to call him Old, praise the Lord Lou, because everything with Lou was praise the Lord. It’s a nice day today. Praise the Lord. Your father died. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord for everything and but really, everybody loved Lou. And one day, we were sitting around with a group of men, and they said, Do you know what this Lou does? You know what this guy does? What a guy? No, what’s he do? He takes his little boy out every Saturday morning, witnessing up and down the streets of San Bernardino, leading people to Jesus. What a guy. And you know what I thought? I could use some of those strokes. I could use some of that. I could use some of these guys sitting around saying, Do you know that Bob George, wow. Do you know what he does? He takes little Bob out with him up and down the street San Bernardino and witnesses. So what I do? I grab my little shy, nine year, 10 year old boy and guy give up and down the streets of San Bernardino scared the daylights out of me, and now I’m sitting in an office or in a coffee shop across the table from him, and him saying, Dad, do you remember that? I said, Yeah. He said. I said, at that time, if that’s what Christianity is about. I’m going to be on the peripheral, and I’d stifled my own kids growth in order to get some praise from man, so the man could pat me on the back and say, What a guy, what a spiritual dude. Isn’t that sick guys? But God taught me something that day, because all I could say to Bob was, forgive me and but that’s what happens when you’re in bondage to the opinions of people.
That day, I started thinking about acceptance. Why was I so insatiably desirous of acceptance? And the issue is God made me to be accepted, but God made me to be accepted by him, not by man. Jesus wasn’t accepted by man, but he certainly was accepted by God. And I begin to contemplate that, that you know, this insatiable desire that I have to be accepted has already taken place in Jesus. That I am accepted in the beloved, that God not only loves me, but God accepts me just where I am, and if God’s before me, who can be against me? And I went free. And Bob went free that day, as I began to contemplate what my problem was, my problem. Them was that the object of my dependency was in the wrong place. It was not on God, it was on man, and he began to free me of all of that.
And guys, it’s the most freeing thing in the world to not have to worry about what the response is. You know, people will say, Well, you’ve been on the radio for all these years. Don’t you worry about what people think? Are you kidding? They ain’t thinking about me. They’re thinking about themselves. Or they wouldn’t be calling. Not calling me to see if I need any help thinking about themselves. No, I don’t worry about the response. Well, sometimes you get angry. Yeah, it’s true. Sometimes I get angry off the air too. What do you think I am Jesus? I wonder sometimes about people, What in the world’s wrong? I get the email, oh, you got angry. Well, no wonder someone’s calling Jesus a nut. Wouldn’t you get angry too? I’m a human being. I’m just a person in whom Christ, Jesus lives. I’m not some kind of a fantasy character walking around. None of us are we’re just people. Sometimes you’re in good moods. Sometimes we’re in bad moods, aren’t we? Except Richard, good mood all the time. Folks, you know what God wants us to be, wants us to be real.
But I want to tell you what makes us real, if God’s for us, who can be against us? If the whole world turned against you and me, God would still be for us. Isn’t that great? Because in a final analysis, he’s who we’re going to live with eternally. Hopefully we’re all going to live in the same place eternally, but we’re not all going to get there at the same time. But the issue is that with God, we’re going to be with Him eternally. And if God’s for me, who can be against me? It frees you to be yourself where you’re not in bondage to what people think. I hope you like me, but I’m not in bondage to it. I hope you love me. In Christ, I always tell people you don’t want to Love A Child of God, it’s your problem. But the issue is, I’m not in bondage to it. I’m not sitting there if somebody walks off and gets mad at me, I don’t sit there and sulk and cry and moan and just happens, that’s just the way it is. That’s their decision, and that’s their that’s what they’ve decided to do. Maybe God’s leading them to do that. That’s okay. It’s freedom. God wants you to be free, doesn’t he? He said that I’ve called you to be free, and only Christ can set us free. But guys, want to tell you that passage right there has been one that in my life has been one of the most valuable that I’ve ever had. If God’s for me and who can be against me? You know what that does? Enables us to love one another without without any kind of connections to it, or any kind of obligations to it. Just love one another, because we love one another. And in that what God said for us to do, the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. And folks that love is only available to those who have been indwelt by the Spirit of God.
If you’re in here today or in the sound of my voice on radio, and you’ve been in church, maybe been a halfway decent person, but you have never come to know Christ as your Lord and Savior. There’s never been a time in your life when you’ve been met with a decision, have I taken Jesus as my Lord and Savior, as my Lord and Savior, if I was the only person on the face of the earth, have I accepted by faith what God did for me at the cross, where there He who knew no sin became sin for me, so that in him, I could become the righteousness of God? Have I said yes to that? Have I said I believe that God, with all of my heart and mind and soul, and if I come to a point of recognizing that when Jesus went into a grave and he died, and he was raised from the dead, so that that life that raised Him from the dead can raise you and me from the dead, our problem, my friends, is spiritual death. The wages of sin is death. All of us have sinned. All of us have fallen short of the glory of God. All of us are born into this world, dead spiritually. And if you’re dead, you need life. And folks, there’s only one source of life available to us, and that’s the resurrected life of Christ, Jesus. None of us can give life to somebody only Christ. Spiritual life can only be given through the resurrected Christ. And have you understood that truth? And if so, have you accepted the fact that, Lord, if you say that I was born dead, and I don’t think I’ve ever come alive today. I want to come alive. I want you to come to live in my heart and to be my Lord and to be my Savior. And I’m going to praise you for the rest of my life for what you did for me at the cross and what you’ve now doing, going to do for me through your resurrected life and come to life. What’s the Bible say? Who has the Son has what life, and he who does not have the Son of God does not have what? Life. Why would you want to remain spiritually dead when God is offering you life? So would have to give up anything. Yeah, misery, lot of misery, a lot of heartaches. But I want to tell you something, if there was no such thing as life after death, if there was no such thing, I would still be devoting my life doing what I’m doing, because it’s so worthwhile. Just if it was only here, everything would be worthwhile of just knowing him, walking in peace, walking in the truth that all things that happen to me God will cause them to work together for good, knowing full well that in Christ, I’m loved, and nothing can separate me from the love of God. Trials can’t, tribulation can’t. Nothing can separate me from the love of God. And if God be for me, who can be against me? That would be worth it if there was no such thing as life after death, but there is.
And so if you have not come to make that decision, that is merely a decision of the heart, that’s saying, Lord, I didn’t know that. I didn’t know it. 36 years, sat in church all my life, I never heard anything like this. So if you’re hearing something new here, don’t feel bad I never heard it in 36 years. But the issue is, it’s truth. It’s right out of the Scripture. And what God wants us asking today is, what do you want to do with this truth? Do you want to accept Jesus today as your Lord and Savior, and do you want to accept His resurrected life to cure you from what the consequence of sin, it’s which is death and come alive today? And you got a decision, yes or no, I pray the decision today, if you haven’t heard this before and you have never come alive to Christ, will be yes. This is what I want for my life. I want you Jesus to be my Lord and my Savior. Will you do that today, if you haven’t?

Stand on the firmness of truth. Don’t keep going back and forth. Thank Him that the forgiveness issue is settled.
Let’s pray together:
- Lord Jesus,
- I thank you for taking away my sins on the cross,
- never ever to see them again.
- Having done that, I now thank you for giving me eternal life,
- through your resurrection.
- I now receive that life.
- And I am going stand in the fact that I am a child of the living God.
- In Jesus Holy name I pray.
- Amen
All believers are now brothers and sisters in Christ.
John 3:3
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
