Classic Christianity – The Sower & The Seed – Part 1 – 10-05-26
~ That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around Him that He got into a boat and sat down, while all the people stood on the shore.
And He told them many things in parables, saying, “A farmer went out to sow his seed. And as he was sowing, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.
Some fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow. But when the sun rose, the seedlings were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.
Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the seedlings.
Still other seed fell on good soil and produced a crop—a hundredfold, sixtyfold, or thirtyfold.
He who has ears, let him hear.” Matthew 13:1-9
What Type of Soil Are You? Matthew 13 Un-Scrambled in Light of Calvary’s Finished Propitiation
In traditional, works-based religion, the Parable of the Sower or we should actually say it is the Parable of the Soil (Matthew 13:1–9) is routinely twisted into a moralistic lecture. Churchgoers are taught that “being good soil” means striving to make yourself clean, worthy, or holy through human effort and continuous performance loops.
This completely misunderstands the courtroom reality of the Gospel!
When you examine Matthew 13 through the lens of the Goel (Kinsman-Redeemer) and the total Propitiation (Hilasmos) of ALL sins, the entire parable transforms from a legalistic burden into a profound courtroom and ontological audit.
Under Divine Property Law, the ground wasn’t left dirty for you to clean—the ground was already washed clean at the cross of Calvary where the debt was cleared!
1. The Baseline: The Ground Was Cleared at Calvary
Under Divine Property Law (Leviticus 25:25), Jesus took on literal human blood and flesh (basar) to qualify as near-kinsman to the entire Adamic race. As our Goel, He executed a 100% buy-back of both the spiritual and physical estates.
At the cross of Calvary, Christ executed Propitiation (Hilasmos)—not a temporary Old Covenant “covering” (Kaphar), but the total, permanent liquidation of all sin-debt for the entire world. The global ledger of reconciliation (Katallage) was zeroed out and permanently closed when the gavel struck at Calvary.
Every human “soil”—every clay vessel—was legally washed clean of sin-debt at the cross of Calvary where the debt was cleared (2 Corinthians 5:19; 1 John 2:2).
Therefore, un-forgiven sin is NOT what determines the condition of the soil. Sin was paid for globally for all humanity. The critical distinction between the four soils comes down to how the mind receives the Seed of Truth and whether the vessel yields to receive the indwelling Spirit of Life (Zoē).
2. Deconstructing Matthew 13 Through Courtroom Jurisprudence
1. The Path / Wayside Soil (Cognitive Blindness & Matrix Snatching)
📖 “And as he was sowing, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.” — Matthew 13:4
- The Forensic Reality: The Seed (the Word of Truth / the un-scrambled Gospel of the Goel) lands on the mind, but the “birds”—representing satan’s cognitive noise, deceptive translation overlays, and administrative matrix scripts—snatch it away.
- Even though their sin-debt was liquidated at the cross of Calvary where the debt was cleared, their intellect remains darkened in unbelief. They hear that “Jesus took away all sins,” but traditional religious conditioning causes them to reject it before voluntary Socratic agreement (homologeo) can take root.
2. The Rocky Ground (Shallow Roots & Fear of Horizontal Heat)
📖 “Some fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow. But when the sun rose, the seedlings were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.” — Matthew 13:5–6
- The Forensic Reality: This represents a vessel that initially hears the liberating truth of completed propitiation with emotional joy. But they have no deep, vertical root in the courtroom finality of Calvary.
- The moment the “sun rises”—meaning horizontal pressure, trial, or being shunned by corporate pulpit gatekeepers for declaring “it is finished”—they fold. Because they care more about human approval or institutional security than vertical Truth, they wither under the heat.
3. The Thorny Ground (Choked by Horizontal Theater & Religious Loops)
📖 “Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the seedlings.” — Matthew 13:7
- The Forensic Reality: The Seed is planted, but the thorns—the “cares of this world,” the deceitfulness of riches, local political theater, and the “vending machine” hamster wheel of continuous begging for forgiveness—grow up and choke it.
- Instead of resting in the completed verdict of the Goel and walking in vertical authority, their spiritual energy is drained by horizontal anxieties and works-based performance loops. The vessel remains unproductive because it stays entangled in satan’s horizontal matrix.
4. The Good Soil (Socratic Agreement, Filling & Divine Fusion)
📖 “Still other seed fell on good soil and produced a crop—a hundredfold, sixtyfold, or thirtyfold.” — Matthew 13:8
- The Forensic Reality: The Good Soil is the clay vessel that hears the un-scrambled Word of Truth and yields in Socratic agreement (homologeo)—saying the exact same thing as the Judge and agreeing that Christ did it all!
- At that exact microsecond of Faith:
- The Holy Spirit vertically occupies and vacuum-seals the washed clay vessel.
- A Divine Fusion occurs: the Holy Spirit fuses spirit-to-spirit with the believer’s spirit as “one spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:17).
- An unbreakable Sovereign Firewall is established.
- This vessel produces an abundant harvest—standing firm as a sealed officer of the Court of Heaven and walking in the vertical authority of His indwelling Life!
3. The Socratic Soil Audit: Where Do You Stand Today?
In light of the Goel’s 100% finished buy-back at the cross of Calvary, examine your heart with these direct Socratic questions:
- Are you Path Soil? Are you allowing traditional pulpit scripts or digital matrix distractions to snatch away the un-scrambled reality that your debt was cleared at Calvary?
- Are you Rocky Ground? Are you terrified of standing on absolute grace because family, friends, or a pastor might criticize or shun you?
- Are you Thorny Ground? Are you choked by horizontal outrage, political distractions, or the endless “bar of soap” routine of begging God for a clearance He already executed at the cross?
- Or are you Good Soil? Have you abandoned all works-based self-righteousness, agreed with the Sovereign Verdict (homologeo), and allowed the Holy Spirit to seal your vessel with uncreated Life (Zoē)?
Do not dwell on past stumbles or years lost in deception. God was not surprised by any of it, and He holds ABSOLUTELY NOTHING against you!
Stand by active faith in the present moment, rest in the finished victory of your Kinsman-Redeemer, and let your clay be Good Soil—sealed, secure, and bearing eternal fruit under the firmament!
“Then I saw a new heaven (οὐρανός / ouranos) and a new earth, for the first heaven (οὐρανός / ouranos) and earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven (οὐρανός / ouranos) from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” — Revelation 21:1–2

Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”
~ Bob George taught that legalism shifts a person’s trust away from Jesus and toward trying to earn righteousness through personal deeds, rules, or religious practices. He emphasized that believers’ righteousness and identity come from Christ, not from their behavior, and described the New Covenant of grace as established through Jesus’ death and fulfillment of the law. Turning to Matthew 13, he introduced the parable of the sower, explaining that people may hear and see spiritual truth without understanding it when their hearts are calloused and resistant to God.
“Well, I want to ask you another question. Then, if you today, as a born again believer, are indwelt by His righteousness, and the only righteousness that you have is that which has been given to you by Him. Then can you make you can you make yourself righteous? No. Then I want to ask you another question: Can you make yourself unrighteous? Now, if you think you could make yourself unrighteous, then whose righteousness were you standing in? Yours, because if I can make myself unrighteous, then it means that I also made myself righteous, and I can’t do either one of those things. So when you go out and do an unrighteous thing, does that make you unrighteous in the sight of God? No, it’s a righteous person doing an unrighteous thing in the sight of God is that right or wrong? Is your identity been changed? No. You’re a child of God, whether you’re doing this or whether you’re not doing that. Is that true or not? Your children do not cease to be your children because of their behavior.” ~ Bob George

If you’ll turn with me to Matthew, to the 13th chapter, we’re going to be talking today about parables that deal with exactly what we were just singing. Our eyes are going to be opened. They’re people that see but don’t see, and hear but don’t hear, and to see what Jesus had to say about these things, guys. Many times, and ___ __________ and I were discussing this prior to my leaving, and even on the phone while I was gone, but so many times we get so-I would say, not hung up, but we get so adamant in regard to this thing called legalism because it’s it’s a destroyer, and but after a while, subtly we become anti something instead of pro something, and that’s very easy for us to happen, where we get anti things instead of pro something. And the real issue with legalism is not legalism. The issue of legalism and the problem with legalism is it is that thing that satan uses to get your eyes off of dependency upon Christ. The problem is we’re not walking in dependency upon Christ. That’s the problem, and there’s a scripture that deals with that. That rather than receiving the righteousness that comes from God, we seek to establish our own righteousness, and therefore stumble over the stumbling stone of Christ Jesus, and no man will ever be declared righteous, we’re told in the sight of God through obedience to the law. And so, what true legalism is is man believing and thinking that his righteousness or the things that he does is going to produce righteousness in their own life that God’s impressed with. In other words, my deeds, my righteous deeds, are making me righteous in the sight of God. And you need to analyze yourself, and you need to sit here thinking today: Do I have even a hint of a thought such as this that I’ll bet you God’s really impressed with what I just did. I’ll bet you He’ll be so thrilled after I give this message I won’t be able to stand myself. I’ll bet you He is so thrilled with me because I witnessed to somebody. I bet I imagine all the all the angels of heaven are just saying, “Did you see that? And you know, if we can get like that, can’t we? Where our pride and our ego can get down to the point to think that we’ve got something in us that is worthy to be called righteous, and yet God said all of our deeds are as filthy rags in the sight of God.
And so, what true legalism is is the thought in the in the mind of a man that says, “I do not need the righteousness that comes from God. I will establish my own righteousness. I’ll do it my way. Now, the only way that you can do that is through the formation of rules and regulations, either laws given to us by God or laws that come from our interpretation of the laws that come from God. Because laws have to be interpreted, we’ve certainly seen that this last week, haven’t we? Laws are a law in and of itself, has to be interpreted by someone. Of course, back in the days of the HEBREWs, they were interpreted by the rabbi because he was the interpreter of the law, and so you have to have interpreters of the law. That’s what we were talking about, and I’ve said so many times that, as an example, that it was against the law on the Sabbath to spit on the ground because that would make mud. You can spit on a rock, but not on the ground. Someone had to come up with that interpretation, and so we we have to see that every one of those things do are only involved in one thing only. This is what you need to do in order to be righteous in the sight of God. Is that right or wrong? This is what you need to do in order to be righteous in the sight of God. We tell people as soon as you come to Christ, you need to get into your Bible. Well, wonder what you told people back when they didn’t have Bibles? See, we didn’t have Bibles until around. 1500. So, what did you tell people? What did the early apostles say? Get in your Bible. We don’t have one.
But could you have told a person back then, trust in this Jesus that you have just invited into your heart as your Lord and Savior? Absolutely, you could have told them that. Now, I want to tell you, I am privileged today, and so are you, that we’ve got a Bible to be able to read because now we do not have to come and wonder what truth is. We know what truth is. We can read it. It’s there, but don’t ever substitute the Bible for Jesus. There are people who are in well-established religious circles today, radio personalities, whatever else it might be, authors of books, who do not believe that in the literal fact that Jesus lives in your heart, that the Spirit of God living in you, Christ in you, your hope of glory is kind of like, and this is the way it’s explained: your wife is going to be taking a journey on a boat someplace, say, going over to England, and you have to stay home, and you’ll say, “Honey, I’ll be with you in spirit, and that’s and that’s what it means. Christ, the Holy Spirit of God, living in you, to them. There is no awareness of the reality of the truth that Jesus, literally by His Spirit, indwells you and me and lives in you and me. It’s not a, I’ll be with you in spirit, but it’s reality that something life has come to live inside of you and me. That our human spirit was dead, and life came to indwell that human spirit and bring life to the dead. That’s what birth is. You don’t have a baby and say, “Well, it’s just I’ll be with you in spirit. You have had birth. Birth means life. So the life of Christ has come to live inside of every born again believer, and that’s not, that’s a reality. That’s a truth. So what you’re what you’re dealing with is: Are you going to walk by faith in that type of thing? Are you going to believe that type of thing and walk by faith in that truth and in that reality? So when you’re dealing with with with life, you’re either gonna you’re either gonna get a set of rules and regulations that you say if you do that you’ll be righteous in the sight of God, or you’re gonna realize no there is nothing that makes me righteous in the sight of God except the one who made me righteous and that’s Jesus Christ. I do not stand in my righteousness. I stand clothed in His. And if it wasn’t for His righteousness, I would have none. Now, when you come, the Christian world is constantly telling: if you pray, right? If you pray, you’ll be righteous in the sight of God. If you read your Scripture, you’ll be righteous in the sight of God. If you go to church three times on Sunday, you’ll be righteous on the side of God. If you go to prayer meeting, you’ll be double righteous. If you do this, is that right? Isn’t that what the world? If if if if if you do, God will. And the opposite is abs. The truth is the very opposite of that. You’d never do something to cause God to do something, God has given you righteousness. You enter into that by faith and by faith alone. There’s nothing that you and I can do to make yourself righteous in the sight of God.
Well, I want to ask you another question. Your children do not cease to be your children because of their behavior.
So the whole issue is: Are you going to rest in His righteousness, or are you going to go out and try to establish your own? Now, guys, many times when you’re dealing with these subjects, what you will hear back is, “Well, now when you’re talking about salvation, boy, that is.” Really true. Nobody could ever be saved apart from from Jesus and apart from faith in Jesus and apart from His righteousness. And then you put the billy goat butt on it. But when you live on this life, but and there are no buts. That has nothing to do with salvation. What your salvation that began way back then is still going on. Salvation is not something that happened to me back in 1969. That’s when it began. It’s still going on. I was saved. I’m being saved, and one day my body will be saved. It’s an ongoing deal, so you can’t say, “Oh, well, that’s salvation. That that’s true as it relates to when you were saved. If it’s true when you were saved, then it’s true as you were saved. So there’s no difference at all in that. So when you’re dealing with the righteousness that comes from Christ Jesus, I was made righteous by Christ Jesus in 1969. I am righteous in the sight of Christ Jesus today because of Him and because of Him alone. And there’s not one thing that I do, not a thing that I do, that makes me righteous in the sight of God, or more righteous.
We are in this particular field that I’m in a ministry daily proclaiming the gospel of Christ to people, leading people to Jesus. That’s a part of of a lifestyle. You have to be in the Scripture if you’re going to teach the Scripture. So you’re in the Scripture. You’re communicating with God. Does that make me more righteous than someone else? Not an ounce, and that’s why there are no heroes in the Christian life. No pastor, no minister, no radio personality, or anything else is any more righteous in the sight of God than these little children down here who have not had that opportunity yet to be used in whatever way God chooses to use them in their lives. So none of us can stand up and say I am righteous because of what I’m doing. Nobody. He has neutralized the world into that, and the only righteousness that you and I will ever enjoy because his righteousness is enjoyable. When I’m standing in mine, I got to judge to see how you’re doing. So there’s no joy in self righteousness. You’re always uptight. Am I doing enough? Did I do enough? Will I do enough? And then how are you doing? And so it is a constant battle that you’re in in self righteousness, and so no man should ever stand in the sight of God with an inkling that I’m here because of me and what I’m doing, only that I’m here because of Him and what He has done.
Amy and I were with some people on a vacation type deal, and all the ladies said, “Nice lady. They’re from from over in France or someplace, but all she would say is, “I’m a good person. I’m a good person, and and I’ll tell you, you know, it’s not easy to say, “No, you’re not. But I said, “No, you’re not, because if you don’t agree with God, what He says about you, how are you going to agree with Him, what He says about Himself?

And so, folks, when you’re talking about legalism, the damage of legalism is that it pulls people off of trusting Jesus and onto trusting yourself. There’s the problem with legalism. Instead of receiving the righteousness that comes from God, I’m seeking to establish my own. There’s the problem of legalism, and the devastation of legalism. It is the subtle way that Satan has used to pull people away from trusting Jesus with their life. Now that is the message that God wants us to see.
Now, folks, when you’re dealing with the Scripture themselves, you’re dealing with an Old Covenant and you’re dealing with a New Covenant. The word covenant, the the word, the Greek word for covenant that the New Testament was written in, is the identical word of testament will. There’s no difference. There’s not three words. There’s not will, covenant, and testament. They’re one word. So when you’re talking about an Old Covenant and a New Covenant, you’re talking about an old testament and a new testament. They’re the identical word. So when you’re saying a New Covenant, if you were look at this Bible and the delineation of it, you’ve got a New Covenant that began when? In the Book of Acts, the New Covenant was not in effect when Jesus was alive. A will does not go into effect until you what? Die. Then when you die, the will goes into effect, so the New Covenant did not go into effect until Jesus’ death. Now that New Covenant is in comparison to the Old Covenant law, so in essence, what the Old Covenant is is the first five books of Moses. If you’re saying, “What’s the Old Testament? It’s not. It isn’t from Genesis to Malachi. The Old Testament is the first five books of Moses. That’s the Old Covenant, and the rest of it is the Prophets and the Writings. But the Covenant, the contrast of the covenants, the contrast of the Testaments, is the law up against the New Covenant that we live in today. Grace, the law and grace. So, in essence, you have the Old Covenant, the law. You have the New Covenant that was fulfilled by Jesus Christ that we’re in today. You’ve got the prophets that, in many instances were prophesying the coming of the Messiah and His second return, and and then you’ve got the the writings of Jesus.
Now, what is the life of Jesus? the The Gospels is a the writings of Jesus fulfilling everything that was written in the law and the prophets. So, in other words, when you’re reading about Jesus, you’re reading about the one who fulfilled everything that was written in the law and the prophets and the writings. So, what are the gospels? It’s a recordation of the one who came to fulfill the law. It is the one. It is the one who came who is the the the reality of the shadow that was written in all of the Old Testament, Old Covenant books and the prophets and the writings. He’s the fulfillment of all of it, and we get to read that. And when we read about Jesus, we read about the one who fulfilled the entirety of the Scripture, and then the rest of the writings of the Bible is a recordation and an explanation of this New Covenant in which we stand today. Jesus fulfilled it; he upheld it through his death. In other words, the law without a punishment for violation has no meaning. He took upon himself the sins of the world, and even though he was sinless, he became sin for you and me. And the wages of sin is death. And he went to a cross and died for the forgiveness of man’s sins, entering into our spiritual death with us, so that we could enter into His spiritual resurrection with Him. So He was the fulfillment of all that, and all of the epistles of Paul and all of the other writers of the New Testament are merely there to explain the magnitude of this New Covenant that we stand in today through Christ Jesus. So, what is the message that Jesus wants us to learn? To trust Him. Paul said the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through what love.
So let’s turn to chapter 13 and with the realization that here is Jesus talking about Himself, who is here, and what the implications of that are going to be in the future when He goes away, it said that same day Jesus went out. This is chapter 13, went out of the house and sat by the lake, and such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it while all the people stood on the shore. And then he told them many things in parables. He said, “A farmer went out to sow his seed, and as he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow, but when the sun came up, the plants were scorched and they were withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns which grew up and choked the plants, and still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop-a 100, 60, 30 times what was sown. He who has ears, let him hear. Open our ears, Lord, and teach us to listen. Open our eyes and enable us to see. He says that. Do you think he was sitting there talking to people without ears? I mean, do you think he was looking around to say, “Who has ears among you? Everybody had ears. He said, “If you’ve got them, listen to what I’m saying to you. Listen to what I’m saying to you.
Well, the disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables? And he replied, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. What is he saying to these to these people, his disciples? He’s saying, the knowledge from God has been given to you. Do you realize, folks, that the knowledge of God has been given to you? Now, is that something to rejoice in? You talk about a pearl of great price. You have been given the knowledge about God. We have, if you’re in Christ, you have the ability due to the Holy Spirit of God living in you, revealing the meaning of the kingdom of God. You have that indwelt in you. That’s a part of you. It’s in you. And He’s saying to His disciples, “That’s true about you, and that secret has been given to you, but not to them. They don’t know anything about it yet.
Whoever will be given more, he he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he does have, it’ll be taken from him. And that’s why I speak to them in parables. Those seeing, they do not perceive, and he quotes from Isaiah through here. And though hearing, they do not hear or understand. If you’re marking your Bibles, I would like for you to to mark that they do not see and they do not hear or understand. Because what you’re going to see as we go through this parable is seeing, hearing, understanding, not understanding. So you can see how important it is to God for you and me to not only hear something but to understand what we’re hearing. So He said, “Though seeing, they don’t see; though hearing, they do not hear, nor do they understand. I have had people, my friends, sit in this assembly for 15 years that still don’t understand the gospel. And you’ll talk to them sometimes. I just don’t understand. I don’t understand. I don’t. I just. I don’t understand. I don’t understand. And you know what? You know why they say that? They don’t understand. And it’s and it’s told in the Bible that there are people like that that they see and they hear, but they never understand. And it tells you why. In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah. See, Jesus not the only one who fulfilled prophecy. We filled it too. Fulfilled it too. Here’s the prophecy about people: You will be ever hearing but never understanding.
You will be ever seeing but never perceiving. Now here’s the problem: for this people’s heart has become calloused. Now you want to know what the problem is. It’s called a calloused heart, a prideful, calloused heart that says, “I don’t need to understand. I don’t need to see. I’ll do it my way. It started right in the Garden of Eden. I do not need you, God, to determine right from wrong, good from evil. I’ll do it my way, and so we don’t have to sit around and wonder if these people have a syndrome, or to wonder if they were potty trained too early, or to see if they have some kind of a of a illness that needs corrected. He said, “The reason you do not understand is because you’ve got a calloused heart, and that’s what you have to deal with. So, if you’re going to correct this problem, you’re going to have to deal with the root of the problem, not the fruit of the problem. And the root of the problem is you got a prideful heart that needs to be changed through Christ Jesus, and there’s nothing else that’s going to change a heart. So he says they hardly hear with their ears; they’ve closed their eyes, otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts. And in turn, I would heal them.
I’ve said before, folks, I can take you to the most spectacular sight on one of them on the face of this earth and stand you within five feet of it, and you’ll never see it. It’s the Grand Canyon, and all you have to do is turn your back on it. That’s all you have to do. You’re five feet from it, but you’ll never see it because you’ve turned your back on it. And so he’s talking about people. He’s talking about the you’s and the me’s. He said, “Blessed are your eyes because they see. Now he’s talking to people who have the ability to see, and your ears because they hear. He said, “Blessed are you, for I tell you that many prophets and righteous men long to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but do not hear it. So listen then to what the parable of the soil means. Now he’s going to explain what this means. When anyone hears, and I under-I’m just telling-I’m underlining these things: hearing, understanding, receiving, because you’re going to see some relationship here. When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, now why did it just get through saying up here, “You’ll be hearing but never understanding, seeing but never perceiving” What’s the problem? For your people’s heart has become what? Callous. So how come you’re not going to understand it? Calloused heart. So anyone who hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. It’s not that it hasn’t been sown. Is it? Folks, how many people on this earth, from the beginning of time on, did God desire that none should perish, but all come to repentance? All, everybody.
