Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P1170 (10-02-26)
Salvation Is Life, Not Forgiveness: Why the Holy Spirit’s Indwelling Seal Is Permanently Unbreakable
~ In modern religious circles, millions are trapped in a fundamental misunderstanding of the Gospel. Churchgoers are routinely taught that “getting saved” simply means “getting your sins forgiven.” They are instructed to spend their entire lives dropping verbal “apology coins” into a religious vending machine, constantly begging God to forgive them so they can stay in His good graces.
This transactional model completely misses the glory of Calvary and the true legal nature of salvation.
Scripture makes a rigid, courtroom distinction between Reconciliation (which dealt with the sin debt globally) and Salvation (which is the impartation of Eternal Life). Understanding this difference breaks the paralysis loop of guilt and reveals the unbreakable, permanent reality of your security in Christ Jesus.
1. Forgiveness Was Completed at the Cross for Everyone
Forgiveness is NOT salvation; it was the global, legal clearing of the courtroom ledger. At Calvary, Jesus Christ—God manifested in literal human flesh (basar)—offered His infinite blood as the total propitiation (hilasmos) for all sin, for all time, and for all people.
- The Global Ledger (Katallage): 2 Corinthians 5:19 declares that “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them.”
- Total Liquidation: 1 John 2:2 states that Jesus “is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”
- Without Blood, No Forgiveness: Hebrews 9:22 establishes that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. Jesus is never going to hang on a cross or shed His blood ever again!
At the cross, Christ wiped every biological vessel clean of its legal sin debt. Reconciliation is an objective, historical fact for all of humanity—whether a person believes it or not. God has officially dropped the criminal charges against the world.
2. Salvation Is Receiving the Indwelling Spirit of Life (Zoē)
If the sin debt of the entire world was already liquidated 2,000 years ago, what is missing? LIFE!
Because of the Fall, humanity was born spiritually dead (nekros)—carrying an unsealed spiritual void. Clearing the debt washed the vessel, but a clean jar is still an empty jar. Salvation is not the subtraction of sin; it is the addition of uncreated LIFE.
Apostle Paul draws this exact boundary in Romans 5:10:
“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.”
Reconciliation was accomplished by His death, but you are saved by His indwelling Life (Zoē)!
- 1 John 5:11–12: “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
- John 5:24: “He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
Salvation occurs the exact microsecond a person exercises voluntary Faith—entering Socratic agreement (homologeo) with God’s verdict—and receives the Holy Spirit vertically into their biological hardware.
3. The Divine Fusion: An Irreversible Ontological Shift
When you receive the Holy Spirit, He does not come as a temporary visitor or a tentative tenant. He enters your vessel and fuses with your native human spirit:
📖 “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” — 1 Corinthians 6:17
This Divine Fusion rewrites your fundamental spiritual DNA. You become an irreversible, brand-new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). The Holy Spirit physically occupies, seals, and vacuum-locks your vessel, establishing an unbreakable Sovereign Firewall (Ephesians 1:13–14; 1 John 4:4).
Once a canning jar is vacuum-sealed, it is structurally impossible for external contaminants to enter. In the exact same way, eternal security is not a fragile reward for good behavior—it is a structural, legal absolute.
4. God Remains Faithful Even When We Stumble
Can a believer lose their salvation? Can they give the Holy Spirit back? Can God evict His Spirit from a person if they stumble, fail, or appear unfaithful?
ABS-O-LUTELY NOT!
God does not take His Holy Spirit back from a true believer under any circumstance. The Spirit of God will not leave that person, because He cannot un-fuse what has been made one spirit.
Look at what Scripture declares regarding God’s unyielding commitment to the sealed saint:
- He Cannot Deny Himself: “If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13). Because the Holy Spirit is fused with your spirit, for God to reject or abandon you would be for God to deny Himself!
- Faithful to Completion: “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6).
- Abiding Forever: “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.” (John 14:16).
- An Unalterable Guarantee: “He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5).
Even if a sealed believer stumbles in the flesh or experiences cognitive confusion, the Holy Spirit remains in residence. He may discipline and refine the believer through the “school of hard knocks” to dismantle carnal pride, but He will never vacate the premises.
Dethrone the Vending Machine—Walk in Vertical Authority
Stop begging God for a forgiveness He already executed years ago at the Cross of Calvary!
If you have placed your trust in King Jesus, you are not a bankrupt beggar trying to keep short accounts to earn grace. You are a sealed, blood-bought saint possessing the indwelling Spirit of Life.
Agree with the Sovereign Verdict (homologeo), rest in the finished buy-back of your Kinsman-Redeemer (Goel), and walk in the unbreakable vertical authority of His indwelling Life!
Apply Faith to the Equation!
Bible Study Books
This Classic Christianity Radio broadcast centered on two biblical questions: whether salvation can be lost and how believers should understand sin, sainthood, and spiritual identity. Rodney asked Bob George whether salvation can be lost, pointing to Judas, Old Testament believers, and Hebrews 6 and 10, and Bob responded that salvation is eternal life in Christ, secured by the completed work of the cross and Christ’s resurrection, with the warnings in Hebrews aimed at people turning back to the old sacrificial system rather than proving genuine believers can lose salvation. Sadie then asked whether a saint can keep living in sin and whether believers should be called sinners or saints, and Bob explained that believers have a new identity as saints even though they still struggle with sin and unbelief, which he described broadly as behaviors like worry, anxiety, impatience, keeping records of wrongs, and sexual immorality. He also emphasized that spiritual growth comes from dependence on Christ rather than self-effort, like branches abiding in the vine, and said a truly born-again person will not remain indefinitely in continual sin because God will bring repentance or take that person home.
:
“Well, Rodney, a person that believes you can lose your salvation does not understand what salvation is. I can say that with no exception. They just plain do not understand what salvation is. What you’re saved from is the wages of sin, which is death, and the way you’re saved from the wages of sin, which is death, is by the gift of God, which is life. And it says in the Scripture, “He who has the Son has that life, and he who does not have the Son of God does not have that life. And you’re talking about the life of Jesus, the one who said, “I will never ever leave you, nor forsake you, and that nothing can separate you from the love of God. But even more importantly is the reason that you cannot lose life. Forget about the term salvation. Salvation is life, and the reason that you cannot lose the life that has been given to you by God is because the only thing that could cause that life to depart from you would be sin, and your sins have all been placed behind the back of God, never to see them again at the cross. So the reason that you have eternal life is because of the eternal consequence of the cross, where there he who knew no sin became sin for you, so that in his resurrected life you could become the righteousness of God. Now, some people confuse that with people. They say they walk away. Well, if that’s true, that somebody walked away, it’s because they were never there to begin with. John says they went out from among us because they were never a part of us, and so that certainly could take place. But that’s not salvation. But if a person has truly come to Christ by faith for his life, not his forgiveness, you come to Christ for life. The cross is what cleared the deck for the divine action of bringing life to the dead. In Romans, it tells us, “While we were yet enemies, that means lost, Rodney, lost. While you were lost, you were reconciled to God through the death of His Son. You were born into this world reconciled to God through the death of His Son. Now, how much more, having been reconciled, that being an accomplished fact, shall you be saved by His life? So you’re not saved by the death of Christ; you’re saved by the life of Christ. And what are you saved from? The consequence of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life. But again, I repeat: in order to have eternal life, and the reason you have eternal life is because of the eternal consequence of the cross. So, a person saying you can lose salvation is denying that Jesus took away the sins of the world, because sin is the only thing that can cause that life to depart from you. So, in essence, they’re denying and they’re saying, Jesus, you lied when you said it’s finished. You lied when you prayed, Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they do. God didn’t answer that prayer. So you’re calling Jesus a liar for what he accomplished at the cross and what he accomplished at the resurrection. And and so if you really want to know a sin that could send you to hell, that would be it if indeed that was possible. So many times the very people that are saying you can lose salvation are committing the greatest sin alive, and that is the denial of the completed work of Christ at the cross and His provision at the resurrection.” ~ Bob George
John 6:28,29
28 Therefore they said to Him, “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?”
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.”
