We Are Saved By The Life of Jesus, Not His Death

~ For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Romans 5:10
It is so important to understand that we are NOT saved by the death of Jesus on the cross, but by His very Life, that brings Life to us when we place Faith in Him. This is one of the most misunderstood Truths in regards to salvation. Scripture is crystal clear on this. God reconciled us to Himself. He didn’t consult with anyone beforehand, He did it at the cross through the sacrifice of Jesus Himself on the cross. He declared it is finished. Forgiveness was taken care of. He reconciled us to himself. Forgiveness was settled for everyone at the cross. At the cross, He who knew no sin, became sin for us, so that in Him (in Jesus), we might become the righteousness of God.

Now you would think that would cause a person to leap for joy! And those that receive Grace do leap for joy in their hearts, because they know how much God loved them. They know there is no more condemnation for those who have been born again of the Spirit of God. Yet very few pastors teach the Truth of this. And you have to ask yourself why? Why is this not being taught in so-called churches today? And the reason is, most are teaching the lies of Satan because that is what they themselves have been taught, and more than likely those who teach these lies are not born of God. They themselves do not have the Holy Spirit living in them for Truth. They are the blind leading the blind. And the more a pastor has been taught by their seminaries, the more indoctrinated they are with the brainwashing of Satan. So don’t expect there to be a major change in their thinking today. And even the elders of the churches are indoctrinated by the same lies, because that is why they are elders in each particular denomination.

1 Corinthians 2: 14-16

14 The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment. 16 “For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

~ “I have written these things to you, the ones believing in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13

~ I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree together, so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be united in mind and conviction. My brothers, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. What I mean is this: Individuals among you are saying, “I follow Paul,” “I follow Apollos,” “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.”

Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul? I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, so no one can say that you were baptized into my name. Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that I do not remember if I baptized anyone else. For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with words of wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. 1 Corinthians 1:10-17

~ “How much more having been reconciled, shall we be saved by his what? His life. You’re not saved to the death of Christ. This idea of come forward and get your sins forgiven is not truth. Your sins are already forgiven. If you’re going to come forward, you come forward to get life, because you don’t have life. You have forgiveness, but you don’t have life. Where is that forgiveness that was provided received? In his resurrected life. That’s why, when you come to Christ, you come for life, not for forgiveness. You come thanking Him for His forgiveness, that’s an accomplished fact, and receive where that forgiveness is received, resurrected life. I came that you might have what? Life. I am the way and the truth and the life. He who has the Son has what? Life. He who does not have the Son does not have what? Life. You guys want to live dead? Whoopee I’m dead! Listen, my friends, this is an unbelievably serious matter that God is dealing with, that when sin entered into this world, Man died and you are born dead, but you’re born forgiven. Now you see, if you think salvation is getting your sins forgiven, then everyone would be saved. And it’s amazing to me how that when it says this is the gospel that saves you, that we still have teaching that says, in order to be saved, you must put your faith in truth, and the truth is that your sins were forgiven when you were born, and that there’s no more forgiveness to be executed on your behalf, by God, I want you to think it through without the shedding of blood, there is how much forgiveness? None. Is there any more shedding of blood? Are you sure? Well, if there’s no more shedding of blood, then there’s no more forgiveness. And if there isn’t any more forgiveness, what do you have to conclude about the one time where there was forgiveness? What did he cry out from the cross, friends? It’s finished. What did he mean? Paid in full. What’s paid in full mean? There isn’t any more payment. So he said, This is the gospel that saves you. It’s all what he did.” ~ Bob George

Is there any baptism in there? Do you suppose just possibly, that’s why Paul said God didn’t send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, and then explains what the gospel is? I don’t think you have to be indwelt with an ultimate amount of discernment to figure out that baptism is not the gospel. I Right? And yet you have whole denominations that teach, yet you have to be baptized to be saved. Now you can believe that, but I want to tell you, my friends, is that truth according to the scripture? Well, people, said, well, in that book of Acts, people were baptized. I don’t care if they were dunked upside down. It’s not the gospel. If they were baptized, they were baptized for another reason except salvation. And the book of Acts is a historical book. It just is there to tell you what happened. It doesn’t matter where it’s right or wrong, it’s just what happened. Remember when Peter said, Perhaps God will forgive you for this? Is that true, that perhaps God will forgive you for that? Or is it true that God was in Christ, reconciling the whole world unto Himself, not counting their sins against them? And said, which is truth? But he said it so it was recorded. See, that’s how I know the Bible’s true. It records dumb statements. This is the gospel, and this is the gospel, my friends, that saves you if you hold on to it, if you allow yourself to add to it or subtract from it, he says, You’ve never got it because I can’t add in other words, why would I want to add to what has been complete? And if I don’t understand that Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection is what completed the whole issue for me, why would I want to add to it? Why would I want to if I understood the truth of that? So what he’s saying is, you’ve never understood it.

You know, in Romans five, where it says that while we were yet enemies, you and I were reconciled to God through the death of his Son. You know what reconciliation is? It’s an accounting term. Any of you that have taken accounting bookkeeping, you know what it is to reconcile your books. If I had bought from you a million dollars worth of merchandise and I went belly up bankrupt, and you had 100,000 or a million dollars, or whatever I just said, worth of debt on your accounts receivable. You know what you’d do if you wanted to balance your books? You’d write it off. You’d write it off. And that’s what it says that God wrote it off. He took it off of his accounts receivable. You don’t owe the debt anymore. And then has to beg us, because we’re so smart, for by In other words, for goodness sakes, be reconciled to God. Take it off your accounts payable. If I’ve taken it off of my accounts receivable, take it off of your accounts payable, because if you don’t take it off your accounts payable, even though I’ve taken it off of my accounts receivable, every time you get around me, you’re going to feel guilty. You are going to be telling me that one of these days I’m going to pay you back. I’m saying, No, you’re not. It’s off my books, and you’re not going to want to fellowship with me. If you don’t take it off of your accounts payable, you do not want to go into the presence of someone who has taken it off of their accounts receivable, believe me, you don’t want to be around them every time you get around them, you feel guilty. Yeah, he had to take all that off his accounts receivable. My friends, it says while we were yet enemies, we were reconciled, taking it off of his accounts receivable, reconciled to God through the death of his Son. Again. When did that happen? When you were enemies, what does that mean? What’s it mean, guys? Lost. When you’re an enemy of God what are you? Lost before you were born again. Now, what does that mean? I was not born again at birth. That means that when I was born, I was reconciled to God through the death of his Son. Does it or doesn’t it? Think it through. I’m tired of these, of dealing with flimsy understanding. I know people who are 1000 miles wide and a quarter of an inch deep. We need to get depth in our understanding, and you’re not going to do it unless you think through. So I want you to think this through. While you were yet enemies, while you were yet lost, what were you? Reconciled to God through the death of his Son? How many sins did Jesus die for at the cross folks? Were your sins judged? What was the verdict? What was the punishment, and who took it? How much is left for you? That’s why it says there’s no condemnation awaiting you. Who belong to Christ, Jesus, that’s why. Why? Why? Why, Lord? Why is that true? Because he said, the law of the law of life, has freed you from the law of sin and death. You were born under the law of sin and death, and you were freed when you were born again from that law by the law of life. Now that’s why, in the Scripture, it goes ahead to say, while we were yet enemies we were not will be were reconciled to God through the death of his Son. How much more now, having been reconciled that being an accomplished fact. Are we together, guys? That is an accomplished fact.

How much more having been reconciled, shall we be saved by his what? His life. You’re not saved to the death of Christ. This idea of come forward and get your sins forgiven is not truth. What does man in his wisdom, do? We come along and add to it. Now, you got to be baptized, got to speak in tongues, you got to have church attendance. You got to tithe. That’s for sure. Got to tithe. Where is tithing in the New Covenant, it isn’t there, then why do we teach it? You got me because we have a building fund. That’s why we don’t teach tithing. As we paid the building off without teaching tithing,

We add to it. You see, the gospel is God’s wisdom. All of this other stuff is man’s foolishness. Religion. Where did it ever say that we’re supposed to walk around up here with robes on? Where’d that come from? Well, it sets me apart. Well, you better believe it. Go naked under that robe for one or two. Don’t have to worry about buying clothes or anything else. Just buy robes. Where’d all that stuff come from? Got me, but it would make you look good, and we wear collars backwards. I guess that’s supposed to make you look better. It shows you’re walking in the wrong direction. It’s we where did that stuff come up with folks? I’m not trying to be critical. I may have sounds like it. I’m just saying, Where did it come up with? It didn’t come up from there. Paul says, this is the gospel that saves you. It’s all what Jesus did. Didn’t anything you did. It’s all what Jesus did. And we come up and say, no, no, that didn’t make sense. And you know what? It doesn’t make sense from a human level. It doesn’t make sense from a human level. But we are not to be thinking on a human level. We have a better way of thinking if we’re born again, and that’s spiritual. Natural man can’t understand spiritual things. It’s foolish to him. That’s why, if you’re lost, all this sounds nuts to you, and it ought to identify yourself. If it sounds foolish to you, you’re lost. And if you’re lost, my friends, you are in a sad shape, because if you die in that condition, you’re going to spend the rest of your life alienated from God. And I want to tell you that is not a pleasant forecast for life. You say, Well, I don’t believe it. I know you don’t. That’s why you’re lost. If you believe it, you’d be saved. Well, I believe in this. I believe in man’s thoughts.

Well, I’ll tell you, my friends, man hadn’t really progressed very far. Then you stop think back in this country, it wasn’t very long ago that this country was founded, what did we have to for transportation? Horses, horses. Then we built wagons to pull the horses to pull wagons. And our forefathers came across this land, into the West Coast and across mountains and Indians and everything else in covered wagons. They ate as we eat today. They slept as we eat. Sleep today. They had children as we have children today. Everything that you do today, they did no difference. Now we’ve progressed. You say, we call it progression, where we’ve developed cars and bicycles and and tanks and and airplanes and bombers. We we’ve really advanced a long way. But we’re the same people. We have the same emptiness inside. We have the same hunger for food. We haven’t changed a bit. We’ve just gotten into a different mode of transportation. That’s all.

You see, we can progress to say, make our lives a little bit easier on ourselves, but I. And we normally end up killing ourselves. God says, I’ll give you sugar. And we say, I can improve on that. Let me get some of that artificial stuff. So we put chemicals in us that kill us. We are foolish people. We are foolish people, according to Scripture.

Now it says Christ isn’t divided. Are we all together in regard to this baptism thing, folks? Do you know how big that is? You know how many calls that I’ve had on baptism over these last years that we’ve been on radio? This month, I celebrate being born again in 69 that’s 40 years of being in the Lord. I can’t believe that. I can remember back when I was hearing Dr Bright, when I was a brand new Christian, and hearing Dr Bright said he had been in the Lord for 20 years. 20 years, wow, I’ve been Lord 40 years. Over half of my life is in the Lord. Haven’t improved much. Can still think the dumbest thoughts you ever want to think in your life. How you doing? Same way? We’re all in the same boat, folks. We haven’t changed at all since the pioneer days. We’re just people. Just got a little bit more human education. Any wiser? Not unless we’ve come to the Lord, we’re not going to be wiser. You can go study your little eyeballs out. You can just learn everything that man has to say and not know anything. You can get out of school, get a degree. You can have more degrees than a thermometer and be dumb as a goose. Doesn’t guarantee anything. Doesn’t even guarantee a good job, but if you have wisdom, doesn’t matter whether you’ve got what job you have you have the Lord, which would you rather have an education or have wisdom?

So he says to us, this guys, this message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. You go out again, you go out and tell this message to somebody who’s lost, they look at you like you got three heads. But to us who are being saved, it’s the power of God, for it is written. I’ll destroy the wisdom of the wise. I’ll destroy the wisdom of the wise and the intelligent, of the intelligent I will frustrate. Now guys, I am not suggesting we don’t get a go get an education, but it’s a worldly education. It’ll help you to get along in the world, but it isn’t going to help you get along. God at all. I had a worldly education, I had a worldly job, I had a worldly good job. I had a good worldly business. Didn’t have anything to do with God. As lost as could be, fat, dumb and happy, but lost. So I’ll destroy the wisdom of the wise and the intelligent of the intelligent, I’ll frustrate he said, I’m going to frustrate people who think they’re so smart. I’m not discouraging education. I’m just saying that, as Solomon said, it’s all vanity, because whatever you think you’ve got in your head is going in the grave. Is that right or wrong? Whatever you got you ain’t going to take with you. It’s going to go and so he said. Solomon said, enjoy your life. Enjoy your eat, drink, enjoy your job. Enjoy your work, because everything else is just going to go over the wayside. Do you realize, folks, and I don’t know how much you’ve accumulated in your life, but you know there isn’t going to be any U hauling on the back of a hearse. Whatever you have, you’re ultimately going to leave, and you’ve got to recognize that helps you to live, to know that, and to recognize the truth of that, that this is all temporary down here. Do you understand how temporary this is down here?

Look at the people that we’ve seen die recently. Farrah Fawcett, very beautiful, young girl, actress, popular. Do you ever hear anything about Jesus from her? No. How about Michael Jackson? He’s popular, dominanted the news for weeks. Hear anything about Jesus? No. Walter Cronkite, the world’s most respected man, nice person. Seemed to be an honorable person. You ever hear anything about Jesus coming out of his mouth? No. Ed McMahon, Johnny Carson’s side kick died. Ever hear anything about Jesus coming out of his mouth? No. Got popularity? Did they? Popular, made money. Very successful. Michael Jackson is real successful. He died with with $500 million worth of debt. That’s pretty successful life. You know, somebody said the most successful life in the world is at the end of your life, you’ve spent everything you’ve made and the check to the undertaker bounces that’s a successful life.

Now, guys, the reason for saying these things is this. It puts everything in perspective, that what we have hang on to it loosely, because we can lose it. Hang on to it loosely. And so where is the wise man? And where is the scholar? Again, whether you are wise or whether you are dumb, you are going to take it to the grave. Where is the philosopher of this age? In other words, he’s saying, Where are all these people who are all puffed up over how smart they are? Where are they? They’re dead. Has not God made the foolish the wisdom of the world? For, since the wisdom of God, the world, through its wisdom, didn’t know him. For since, in the wisdom of God, the world, through its wisdom, did not know Him. We became smart in everything else.

Do you know that the one of the greatest scientists in the world that figured out, von Braun, how to get a rocket from here to the moon and back. Now, you want to talk about some intelligence. I hardly know how to get home and back. Took a rocket to the moon and back. It’s pretty smart, but he said, I couldn’t figure out how to get along with my wife. Smart enough to get a rocket to the moon and back, but too dumb to know how to get along with his wife. That’s why he came to Jesus. Came to Christ because of that, it didn’t make sense. How do I have all this intelligence to get a rocket from the earth to the moon and back, and I can’t figure out my wife, I could have told him quit trying. But he came to Christ through that. Isn’t that something? That’s what ultimately led him to Christ, was the fact there’s something wrong down here in this heart.

I went through the same thing in my life. It wasn’t just what I was doing. It was something was missing. And what was missing in my life was a relationship with Christ, Jesus. I knew about Jesus, but I didn’t know Jesus. You see, the denomination that I grew up in had lost its confidence in this book. This was just something to kind of, I call it like an Abbott and Costello deal. You kind of need a hit man there to say something so that the comic can bounce off of it. It was just something to kind of read a little passage and then give your message on the items of the day. They’ve lost confidence in the Word of God, that denomination, as well as so many others, my friends, have totally lost confidence in this book. You realize that up into 70% of the seminaries of this world do not believe this book is true. They don’t believe it’s inerrant. They think it’s just a mystery book. I will tell you something. There have been a lot of miracles through this mystery book, and you tell me any other book that’s ever been written, I don’t care who it is or what it is Who has ever touched and influenced the lives of people like this book.

Folks, we’ve got everything we need at our hands. God. In the Word of God, where is the wise man? For since the wisdom of God, the world, through its wisdom, didn’t know him, God was pleased through foolishness, through the foolishness of what was preached to you to save those who believe. In other words, Paul is saying that the gospel is foolish to the lost. How do you respond to the gospel? If you’re born again? You certainly don’t think it’s foolish at what it’s what changed your life. It’s why you’re who you are today. I look around this room on Sunday sitting up from this vantage point, and you don’t know it, but I look at you and and when I look at you, I see at every table, miracles, miracles. I see this young man sitting here, I remember like it was yesterday that we went to, they came to a seminar. Came out of a Catholic background. Let him share his testimony sometime, came out of a Catholic background. Probably knew about Jesus, but man, he came alive at that conference. I saw him come alive. It was just like something new happened. It wasn’t Paul, and he stayed alive. And he’s still alive, and he’s out, reaching out to people and turning people off all over the place by telling them truth. My friends, this is a message that changed our lives. I don’t care where you are, whether you’re a college student, whether you’re a businessman, whether you’re a housewife, or who you are, the most important thing that is ever going to come to you is, am I in Christ?
