Classic Christianity – No Boasting Here – Part 3 – 6-18-25

There is Nothing to Boast About Before God

~ For consider your calling, brothers, that not many were wise according to the flesh, not many powerful, not many of noble birth. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world that He might shame the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world that He might shame the strong; and the low-born of the world, and the things being despised, God also chose—the things not being—that He might annul the things being, so that all flesh may not boast before God. But out of Him, you are in Christ Jesus, who has been made unto us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, in order that, as it has been written: “The one boasting, let him boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:26-31

Have you not noticed how the world boasts about things left and right? And even the religious world boasts of what they are doing for Jesus. Both the world and the religious world are one and the same, both are dead lost. One loves what they are doing in the world, and the other loves what they are doing for themselves, in the name of Jesus. Both take great pride in their works of the flesh. The world doesn’t know Jesus, and the religious world doesn’t know Jesus either, because they have a different Jesus than the True Jesus of the Word of God. The religious world thinks they are saved because Satan told them a bunch of lies to make them think that when they jumped through all the man-made hoops in order to be saved. And yet neither one knows what salvation is. They all think they are wise in their own eyes. They never seek out the wisdom of God. They never seek out TRUTH. They would rather listen to the teaching of Man instead of the Holy Spirit to teach them ALL truth. It’s time to wise up in the Wisdom of God. And there are so many things that we have been deceived about, besides the Truth that ALL your sins were taken away at the cross. And we repeat the lies of Satan without even realizing it today.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it has been written: “He is the One catching the wise in their craftiness.” 1 Corinthians 3:19

And don’t think that satan cannot fool you, because we were ALL deceived by the devil from the day we were born. And the deception is much much deeper than people imagine during this season of great deception. Most people would rather sit on their couches in the evenings, watching their Tell-a-Visions that tell NOTHING but satan’s lies. Most love their TV shows, and news programs, and other late night shows, and the various actors we have ALL followed, and our parents have followed. Most love their politicians, or love talking about them. Most would rather watch and talk about those things, and the things going on in the world today, rather than open up the word of God and read TRUTH. Most would much rather believe the LIES of satan, rather than focus on TRUTH. And Jesus is TRUTH. It’s time to repent (change your mind) of these things, and ask God directly for HIS Wisdom and understanding.

Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

Folks, we ALL lacked wisdom today. ALL of us have followed the wisdom of the world whether we realized it or not. We all need to ask God directly for wisdom, during the season we are in. And God will give wisdom with Great abundance, without finding fault. For God is NOT counting anyone’s sins against them. Rest in that TRUTH to begin with. Nothing you see in the world today is TRUTH. All of it is controlled by the adversary. It’s time to wise up in the Spirit to understand ALL TRUTH. Nothing is as it seems today.

1 Corinthians 2: 14-16

14 The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment. 16 “For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

~ “I have written these things to you, the ones believing in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13

~ I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree together, so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be united in mind and conviction. My brothers, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. What I mean is this: Individuals among you are saying, “I follow Paul,” “I follow Apollos,” “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.”

Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul? I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, so no one can say that you were baptized into my name. Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that I do not remember if I baptized anyone else. For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with words of wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. 1 Corinthians 1:10-17

…..

And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.

~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12

~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26

Pray to God:

Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ “And so we come up with this, that the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than my man’s strength. Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards. Not many were influential. Not many were noble birth, but God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. He chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. You see, we put glamor into strong people, don’t we? But God says, And Paul says, I glory in my weakness. Isn’t that crazy? Does that make sense to the world? Hey, man, I’ve got weakness. I glory in it. You’re supposed to get strong and no, I’m going to glory in my weakness. Why? Why? Because my weakness keeps me dependent on Jesus. And if I didn’t have any weaknesses, folks, I’d forget Jesus in a New York minute I’m talking about me, and so would you. Your weaknesses are what keep you focused on His mercy and His kindness and his goodness to you and me. He has been so good, hasn’t he? He is so forgiving, so loving, so kind. Why would we ever reject Jesus? It’s beyond me. It’s beyond me. Why would you reject somebody who loves you perfectly? Person who comes up to you and say, Bob, I love you perfectly. I’m here to do anything for your benefit to help you, they say, I can’t stand you. Doesn’t make sense, does it, guys?” ~ Bob George

Wisdom From God

Announcer 0:13
Welcome to Classic Christianity Radio with Bob George Bob’s clear, timeless teachings on the complete forgiveness and unconditional love of Jesus Christ will transform your life as you learn about God’s amazing grace. Let’s join Bob as he teaches us from God’s Word.

Bob George 0:29
You see, we can progress to say, make our lives a little bit easier on ourselves, but I. And we normally end up killing ourselves. God says, I’ll give you sugar. And we say, I can improve on that. Let me get some of that artificial stuff. So we put chemicals in us that kill us. We are foolish people. We are foolish people, according to Scripture.

Now it says Christ isn’t divided. Are we all together in regard to this baptism thing, folks? Do you know how big that is? You know how many calls that I’ve had on baptism over these last years that we’ve been on radio? This month, I celebrate being born again in 69 that’s 40 years of being in the Lord. I can’t believe that. I can remember back when I was hearing Dr Bright, when I was a brand new Christian, and hearing Dr Bright said he had been in the Lord for 20 years. 20 years, wow, I’ve been Lord 40 years. Over half of my life is in the Lord. Haven’t improved much. Can still think the dumbest thoughts you ever want to think in your life. How you doing? Same way? We’re all in the same boat, folks. We haven’t changed at all since the pioneer days. We’re just people. Just got a little bit more human education. Any wiser? Not unless we’ve come to the Lord, we’re not going to be wiser. You can go study your little eyeballs out. You can just learn everything that man has to say and not know anything. You can get out of school, get a degree. You can have more degrees than a thermometer and be dumb as a goose. Doesn’t guarantee anything. Doesn’t even guarantee a good job, but if you have wisdom, doesn’t matter whether you’ve got what job you have you have the Lord, which would you rather have an education or have wisdom?

So he says to us, this guys, this message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. You go out again, you go out and tell this message to somebody who’s lost, they look at you like you got three heads. But to us who are being saved, it’s the power of God, for it is written. I’ll destroy the wisdom of the wise. I’ll destroy the wisdom of the wise and the intelligent, of the intelligent I will frustrate. Now guys, I am not suggesting we don’t get a go get an education, but it’s a worldly education. It’ll help you to get along in the world, but it isn’t going to help you get along. God at all. I had a worldly education, I had a worldly job, I had a worldly good job. I had a good worldly business. Didn’t have anything to do with God. As lost as could be, fat, dumb and happy, but lost. So I’ll destroy the wisdom of the wise and the intelligent of the intelligent, I’ll frustrate he said, I’m going to frustrate people who think they’re so smart. I’m not discouraging education. I’m just saying that, as Solomon said, it’s all vanity, because whatever you think you’ve got in your head is going in the grave. Is that right or wrong? Whatever you got you ain’t going to take with you. It’s going to go and so he said. Solomon said, enjoy your life. Enjoy your eat, drink, enjoy your job. Enjoy your work, because everything else is just going to go over the wayside. Do you realize, folks, and I don’t know how much you’ve accumulated in your life, but you know there isn’t going to be any U hauling on the back of a hearse. Whatever you have, you’re ultimately going to leave, and you’ve got to recognize that helps you to live, to know that, and to recognize the truth of that, that this is all temporary down here. Do you understand how temporary this is down here?

Look at the people that we’ve seen die recently. Farrah Fawcett, very beautiful, young girl, actress, popular. Do you ever hear anything about Jesus from her? No. How about Michael Jackson? He’s popular, dominanted the news for weeks. Hear anything about Jesus? No. Walter Cronkite, the world’s most respected man, nice person. Seemed to be an honorable person. You ever hear anything about Jesus coming out of his mouth? No. Ed McMahon, Johnny Carson’s side kick died. Ever hear anything about Jesus coming out of his mouth? No. Got popularity? Did they? Popular, made money. Very successful. Michael Jackson is real successful. He died with with $500 million worth of debt. That’s pretty successful life. You know, somebody said the most successful life in the world is at the end of your life, you’ve spent everything you’ve made and the check to the undertaker bounces that’s a successful life.

Now, guys, the reason for saying these things is this. It puts everything in perspective, that what we have hang on to it loosely, because we can lose it. Hang on to it loosely. And so where is the wise man? And where is the scholar? Again, whether you are wise or whether you are dumb, you are going to take it to the grave. Where is the philosopher of this age? In other words, he’s saying, Where are all these people who are all puffed up over how smart they are? Where are they? They’re dead. Has not God made the foolish the wisdom of the world? For, since the wisdom of God, the world, through its wisdom, didn’t know him. For since, in the wisdom of God, the world, through its wisdom, did not know Him. We became smart in everything else.

Do you know that the one of the greatest scientists in the world that figured out, von Braun, how to get a rocket from here to the moon and back. Now, you want to talk about some intelligence. I hardly know how to get home and back. Took a rocket to the moon and back. It’s pretty smart, but he said, I couldn’t figure out how to get along with my wife. Smart enough to get a rocket to the moon and back, but too dumb to know how to get along with his wife. That’s why he came to Jesus. Came to Christ because of that, it didn’t make sense. How do I have all this intelligence to get a rocket from the earth to the moon and back, and I can’t figure out my wife, I could have told him quit trying. But he came to Christ through that. Isn’t that something? That’s what ultimately led him to Christ, was the fact there’s something wrong down here in this heart.

I went through the same thing in my life. It wasn’t just what I was doing. It was something was missing. And what was missing in my life was a relationship with Christ, Jesus. I knew about Jesus, but I didn’t know Jesus. You see, the denomination that I grew up in had lost its confidence in this book. This was just something to kind of, I call it like an Abbott and Costello deal. You kind of need a hit man there to say something so that the comic can bounce off of it. It was just something to kind of read a little passage and then give your message on the items of the day. They’ve lost confidence in the Word of God, that denomination, as well as so many others, my friends, have totally lost confidence in this book. You realize that up into 70% of the seminaries of this world do not believe this book is true. They don’t believe it’s inerrant. They think it’s just a mystery book. I will tell you something. There have been a lot of miracles through this mystery book, and you tell me any other book that’s ever been written, I don’t care who it is or what it is Who has ever touched and influenced the lives of people like this book.

Folks, we’ve got everything we need at our hands. God. In the Word of God, where is the wise man? For since the wisdom of God, the world, through its wisdom, didn’t know him, God was pleased through foolishness, through the foolishness of what was preached to you to save those who believe. In other words, Paul is saying that the gospel is foolish to the lost. How do you respond to the gospel? If you’re born again? You certainly don’t think it’s foolish at what it’s what changed your life. It’s why you’re who you are today. I look around this room on Sunday sitting up from this vantage point, and you don’t know it, but I look at you and and when I look at you, I see at every table, miracles, miracles. I see this young man sitting here, I remember like it was yesterday that we went to, they came to a seminar. Came out of a Catholic background. Let him share his testimony sometime, came out of a Catholic background. Probably knew about Jesus, but man, he came alive at that conference. I saw him come alive. It was just like something new happened. It wasn’t Paul, and he stayed alive. And he’s still alive, and he’s out, reaching out to people and turning people off all over the place by telling them truth. My friends, this is a message that changed our lives. I don’t care where you are, whether you’re a college student, whether you’re a businessman, whether you’re a housewife, or who you are, the most important thing that is ever going to come to you is, am I in Christ?

Bob George 13:31
Why? Because I’m going to die. They see when you’re young, you’re on a 200 year plan, so you don’t ever think, don’t talk to me about death that man, I got 1000 years to go, but I want to tell you, it didn’t very long before that body of yours is going to start bagging and sagging. I mean, it isn’t very long, believe me, and it isn’t very long before when you used to pop up, you’re now pushing yourself up by your knees. That isn’t very long from now. You youngsters, you think, you just wait. It’s coming. It’s a coming, and there’s a destiny. Everyone’s born to die. And so if you don’t prepare yourself for that, it’s really foolishness, and that’s why it says it’s foolishness.

HEBREWS demanded miraculous signs. The Greek look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified a stumbling block to the HEBREWS and foolishness to the Gentiles. To us Gentiles, it just seems foolish, but to those who God has called both HEBREWS and Greeks. Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Christ is the power of God and Christ is the wisdom of God. That’s why I say we can study wisdom. But friends, Christ is your wisdom. And if you want to be wise, have Christ. If you want to be wise, yield to Christ. We have two sources of information that were available to us. One source is the world, and everything the world teaches you, and the other is comes from God. I look at life this way, if God hasn’t revealed something in the Scripture, he doesn’t want us to know about it. Doesn’t want us know about it. People talk about, Well, is there life on other planets? Who in the heck cares. We haven’t discovered any Bible doesn’t talk about it. So why sit around arguing about it? Who cares? That’s intellectualism. Sit around and think, yours well, maybe, maybe who cares, and God hadn’t spoken to it. That’s just my foolish way of thinking about things. I’m not saying it’s right. I’m just saying that’s my way of thinking. There’s a lot of stuff people come up with and say, Well, what about it? And say, well, the Scripture doesn’t speak to it. Then there’s a lot of stuff Scripture doesn’t speak to. And so I have to look at as far as God is concerned, and what he wants of me. He wants my mind saturated in this book. Anything else that I come up with is worldly, but this is truth. This is solid as a rock guys. When you read this and when you understand this, you are on solid, solid, solid ground.

And so we come up with this, that the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than my man’s strength. Doesn’t make sense, does it, guys?

And so he says that I took the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. I chose the weak things of the world to change the strong shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of the world and to despise things and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ, Jesus, who has become for us, wisdom from God. Are you in Christ? Is Christ in you? Then he has become your wisdom. You want wisdom. It’s there. It isn’t that you have to go seek wisdom. It’s there, living in you. He is our righteousness, He is our holiness, and he is our redemption. What does that mean? You don’t have anything to do with your redemption. You don’t have anything to do with your holiness. You don’t have anything to do with your righteousness. It’s all imputed to you. It’s given to you, I stand in the righteousness of Christ Jesus, praise God because I don’t have any of my own. But I stand clothed in the righteousness of Christ. That means when God looks at me, he sees Jesus, is that good news or not? Not just because it’s me. Because it’s you. It’s good news. When I came to you, he said, I didn’t come to you with eloquence and superior wisdom, as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. Said, I didn’t come to you with lofty words and brilliant ideas, for I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Christ, Jesus and him crucified, I came to you in weakness and fear and with much trembling. In other words, I came to you in total humility. I didn’t come to you with the big dog look that you see on television, where you see these so called ministers with their bouffant hairdos or wigs, strutting around just like King Kong. Back he goes. Folks, think about that this on television that I am going to slay you in the spirit. Where do you find that in the Bible? It is not there. So what is it? Heresy. And yet people give millions of dollars to support that kind of a ministry. It’s beyond me.

So I didn’t come to you with cockiness. Or come to you in arrogance, or come to you in arrogance. I came to you in humility, I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Christ, Jesus and him crucified, I came to you in weakness, fear and in much trembling, my message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith may not rest on man’s wisdom, but on God’s power. My friends, there is no worldly wisdom in how you and I were born again. There is no wisdom from man’s standpoint in that. It cannot be understood each and every person in this room who claims to be born again has a different experience. Mine was a kind of an experience where I was going held or skelter in this direction, and the next day was going held or skelter in another direction. Never had any interest in this book at all. Never had had it open in 36 years of my life. When I came to Christ and opened the Bible, it cracked because it had never been opened. Had no interest in spiritual things. Did I go to church? Yeah, and I think back on that sometimes, why? Why did I go to church? Say, Well, to be with people, just be with people. I had my friends there, and so I’d go and very generously leave my dollar in the offering plate and go home and have lunch with friends and have friends. Did I ever go to church to learn something? Never, never entered my mind. That’s what church was place to go learn about. Jesus never entered my mind.

That was my experience, very dramatic experience, and the people that lived around me at that time saw that. Our kids were younger, but it was, it was a different thing when Debbie came to Christ, same thing. Boy she wanted to know about Jesus. She wanted to know about Jesus so badly that we found a Bible in our house. And I said to Debbie, where’d you get that Bible? I took it. From, where? The church. Why try to try to find out what was in it. She wanted to know about God so she’s grown. Bob was a little slower, but that’s God’s timing. God isn’t through with any of us, yet, is he? A little slower. But he’s there. Young people, a lot of times, don’t see the necessity for having Jesus. I want to tell you something. If you want to save yourself from a ton of heartaches, you just come to Jesus and let Him guide you through your youth, because they’re in a time in your life when you could have possible of making dumber decisions, and when you’re young and your hormones are raging, am I right or wrong? Anybody older want to testify that’s not true? So again, he is such a protector of your life, such a such an influence of being able to restrain sensual indulgence. He’s your friend guys, that’s who Jesus is, your best friend. And we sing what a friend we have in Jesus. That is really what truth is, what a friend we have in Jesus. I wanted your faith not to rest on some men’s wisdom, because that will come and go. But on God’s power, the greatest power that has ever been executed in your life was the day that Jesus came to indwell your body and you were born again. Greatest miracle you’ll ever experience is the day you were born again.

Let’s pray again. Pray together. Father. We’re told that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him, But God has revealed it to us by His Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him. And in the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God, and we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we might understand what God has freely given us. Father, we want to thank you for this. Thank you for embedding these truths into our heart. Let us not take them for granted, but to learn to walk in the newness of life as Christ gave us the example, and it’s in his name we pray. Amen.
