Faith in Jesus is Key For Life

~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26

It’s not how much faith a person has, but who the object of our faith is. Faith is actually a very practical word. We all use faith every day of our lives. We get in a car based on the faith that the car will go and get us from point A to point B. Every time we sit down in a chair, we place faith in the chair to hold us.

But when it comes to faith in Jesus, many times a person reverts to thinking about faith in themselves instead of what Jesus did on the cross for them. And many times, a person has never placed faith in the real Jesus to begin with. They have placed faith in an imitation Jesus—one that their religious institution sold to them their whole lives. Most people never want to stop believing in the false Jesus and continue believing the lies that they grew up with. They are not willing to repent of their confession booths or their “1 John 1:9-ing” things to death.

Yet, there are some who, when they hear the truth—that God was in Christ Jesus reconciling the world unto Himself and is no longer counting their sins against them—exercise faith and jump for joy. This is because they have, at that very moment in time, accepted the truth that Jesus did it all for them, and that there is no more forgiveness required by God Himself. He, and He alone, took away all their sins at the cross for all time, and the Holy Spirit comes to live in that person immediately and will never leave them nor forsake them. That is the application of faith. That is the “therefore” of faith.

Bob George discusses the importance of understanding the New Covenant and the Trinity with callers. He explains that water baptism is a symbol of identification with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, not a means of salvation. Bob refutes Jehovah’s Witnesses and other groups that deny the deity of Christ, calling them antichrists. He emphasizes that spiritual gifts are given to spiritual people for the benefit of the body, not for personal edification. Bob also clarifies that faith is in Christ, not in oneself, and that obedience follows from a loving dependence on God. Carlos, it’s not your faith. It’s your. It’s who your faith is in. You and I exercise faith every day. We exercise faith when we sit in a chair that’s going to hold us. We exercise faith when we go into a restaurant that they’re not serving us poison. So we exercise faith every day in something. So it’s but it’s not our faith. It’s who our faith is in, and our faith has to come into the one who claimed to be the way and the truth and the life, and that no one will come to the Father except through me, and that’s Christ Jesus, and that’s where our faith has to be placed in the one who identified our problem, in other words, our condition, when He said, “You all have sinned, all have fallen short of the glory of God. There is none righteous, no, not one. So now He’s identified our condition, and that the wages of sin is death. Now I understand that I’m a sinner, and I understand that there’s a consequence to sin called death, and that’s my condition. Now I’m ready for his provision. His provision was that I went to a cross, and there I, who knew no sin, became sin for you, so that in my resurrected life you could become the righteousness of God. That’s his provision at the cross. But I have to be cured of death, and his solution to death is resurrection life, and that’s why he said, “I am the resurrection, and I am the life. And if you believe in me, though you were dead spiritually, you will come alive, and all who come alive in me will never die. And he said, “Do you believe this? So now I understand my condition. I understand his provision, and faith says, “Thank you, Lord. Thank you that you took away my sins from the eyes of God, never to see them again. And I thank you that, having done so, you are now ready to offer me your eternal life, your resurrected life. If I am dead, I need life, and I’m asking you to come into my heart to be my Lord and Savior. That’s faith. That’s saving faith, Carlos. And if you haven’t done that, that’s all it takes is for you to just to be able to believe God and what He said about you, and what He said about His provision for you, and enter into that brand new relationship with God. ~ Bob George
