Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P676 (10-01-21)
The Word of God Goes Out and Will Accomplish The Desire of God’s Heart; Rely on the Spirit to Reveal Truth to You
If you are a relatively new believer or have not spent much time in the word, there are many common questions you want answers to. Listen as Bob George answers questions from the scriptures such as, “Is there marriage in heaven?” When you read the scriptures, you will eventually read Matthew 22:29, which provides a clear answer to that. Other questions asked are about being raised on the last day in the passage of scripture in John 6:39-40. As you read that whole chapter and other passages of scripture, then the meaning is more fully understood. Sometimes little things, such as realizing it said “last day”, and not “last days”, gives us insight into the meaning. It refers to the last day you are alive physically on this earth. There are epistles of Paul that goes into greater detail on a lot of these types of things. And on elaborating more fully what the grace of God is, Paul’s writings are very helpful.
Many people also have come from a religious background of one form or another where error was taught, whether Catholic, Protestant, Jehovah Witnesses or something else. So, we must learn to rely on the Holy Spirit, who lives in us, to reveal to us the meaning of his Word. So what religion we come from is not where truth is found. I leave behind every single thing, and I am depending one hundred percent on God and God alone to bring salvation to my soul. God saw my need for salvation and He and He alone provided it through Christ Jesus and I am depending a hundred percent upon Him for that salvation. When a person is able to come to Him in that fashion, he is born again of the Spirit of God. Now the Spirit lives in you and the Spirit of God has promised to be the revealer of the meaning of the word of God to you.
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
From time to time, people call in who really do not know the Lord at all. They may have heard truth, explained from the scriptures, but they are only hearing from a natural mind and so what they hear sounds like foolishness to them.
1 Corinthians 1:18
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Their hearts are still hard, dead to the things of God, and so that needs to be pointed out to them, that they are lost. At some point, the hope is that they will look more intently into the word and reconsider that what they are thinking is serious error. If you do not believe Jesus is God, that is a serious error, for scripture clearly tells us that He is, and we have those eyewitnesses who spoke with and heard the words of Jesus when He was on the earth, and who came to believe He is God, the promised Messiah of Israel.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
11 [Jesus said] Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.
The bible records down what Jesus had said concerning Himself as being the word of life that came from heaven and the miracles that were performed through Him, as prophesied by the Old Testament prophets. And you have the final miracle of the resurrection, that if you do not believe that, then you will never believe.
31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”
So listen as Bob George has conversations with various people, as to where they currently are, whether lost or just got saved a few months ago, and his manner of firmly sharing truth, yet with a tender heart towards them for their good. We love because He first loved us. We too were once lost, considering the things of God as foolishness or with indifference or as some strange teaching to our ears until faith was revealed to us. We know that the word of God does not return void. I am personally thankful for those who pointed me to the word of truth, and encouraged me to look into the scriptures, until the time came that God revealed Himself to me that I was born again. So, as children of God now, we rely on the Spirit to work through us, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the gospel we have received, for apart from Him we can do nothing (John 15).
