Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P692 (12-03-21)

Only The Holy Spirit Can Teach You The Meaning of The Word of God

Many times people want to go get “higher learning” in the area of bible study. So they up and go to seminary, and end up trusting in man to teach them the meaning of the word of God instead of trusting in the Holy Spirit, alive, living in the believer. The bible is unique in that we read the word of God to learn more about Jesus. Yet people refuse to come to Jesus for life. Join Bob George as he addresses these topics and others on the air.

The first caller, Bobby called from San Diego California, after coming to a proper understanding the forgiveness message. Yet, he was going to a bible college and felt like his life was becoming more legalistic under the teachings of men.

Bob shares with him some stories in regards to seminary vs that of being taught by the Holy Spirit. Only the Holy Spirit can teach us what the word of God means. Yet these people want to try and prove God wrong and say to people, that they need to learn this or that in regards to knowledge of the meaning of things in the bible. Yet so often is the case that these teachers actually teach errors and lies that are handed down from one generation to another.

For example, these teachers at bible schools teach progressive sanctification and ongoing forgiveness from God. They will incorrectly teach 1 John 1:9 as though people should keep asking for forgiveness. No one gets their sins forgiven from God by asking. True confession is agreeing with God that your sins have been taken away on the cross. The folks that teach ongoing forgiveness have never repented of their unbelief. They are still dead themselves. They are “always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.” [2 Timothy 3:7] They live in their traditions.

Hebrews 10:14-18
14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16 “This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”
17 Then he adds:
“Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more.”
18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.

Jesus took away all your sins once for all. Many people think there is more forgiveness to be gotten from God. They keep going back to their Day of Atonement as if Jesus keeps on sacrificing himself on the cross on a daily basis for their forgiveness. Jesus did not atone for sin, He took it away. There is a world of difference between the two. The blood of bulls and goats atoned for sin. Atonement was a covering of sin. It was repeatedly done over and over again, and was an annual reminder of sin [Hebrews 10:3] However, with Jesus, He took away the sins of the world [John 1:29], He is the propitiation of our sins, and not just ours but the sins of the whole world. [1 John 2:2 (KJV)]

Hebrews 6:4-6
4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

So, the only thing a person can do by faith is say thank you to God for having taken away their sins.

Now, when a person sins against another person, go and get right with them. God has already forgiven you, but now go set it right with the person you have sinned against [James 5:16].

A Scriptural Journey to Discover the Grace of God

We are saved by Jesus’ life and not by His death.

Another caller, Betty, from Glendale CA called regarding the process of being born again and wanted to know what that meant.

Bob explains the Gospel to her. Jesus took away the sins of the world on the cross and is not counting them against people. However, there is also a consequence to sin, and that is spiritual death. We were all born dead spiritually and needed spiritual life to make us alive to God. We were born physically from our moms, yet we all need Spiritual life, and that life is found only in Jesus. Jesus is Life. When a person places faith in Jesus, and His finished work on the cross, the Spirit of God comes to indwell a believer and they become born again of the Holy Spirit of God.
