Classic Christianity – The Book of John P67 (07-10-23)
We Who Are In Christ Jesus Have The Mind of God. Abide in Him for ALL Truth.
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18
~ If we are in Christ Jesus, and He is in us (born again of the Spirit), then we are told that we have the mind of God living in us. But here is the thing, we have to depend on Him for all understanding of everything and for the teaching of all truth. Even those that are in Christ Jesus, they still tend to listen to their flesh, listening to the teaching of men, and listening to the world for truth, instead of allowing Him (the Holy Spirit living in us) to teach us ALL truth. In fact, for some it can be somewhat scary to give up their flesh, because after all, most of us have been living in the flesh for a long long time and that’s what we get comfortable with. We haven’t really wanted to submit to God, for there might be something that I learn that goes totally against the teaching of men or my traditions. And I wouldn’t want someone to think I was strange or something like that. But I guarantee you, people will think you are peculiar whether you think, they think that of you or not. So you ought to listen to the teachings of God rather than man. After all, Scripture tells us that we are indeed a peculiar people, and we should shew forth the praises of Him, not the praises of man. God has much to teach us. It’s not just about the forgiveness issue (It is finished), but there are so many lies that the enemy has sown that we need to be taught completely anew. For nothing in the world is as it seems and as we are in the last days, God has told us knowledge shall increase. Do you believe that? If a person has not grown in knowledge and understanding in these recent days, then maybe they need to reexamine themselves to see if they really are in the faith, because there is much that is happening in the world today that can only be explained by knowledge and understanding from God. And what you do with that knowledge is a key indication of Faith. Faith is cumulative and Faith is also a responder. For we know one plus one equals two, but do you know what two plus two equals? Based on proper faith reasoning skills we should also be able to understand (add up) the things of the world and the things of God based on what the Word of God has said to us and having the mind of Christ living in us. God says, “Come let us reason together says the Lord.” Do we also believe that, or do you want to use your own reasoning skills based on the teachings of the world? Don’t you really think that God wants to share with us, ALL Truth today? Have you not heard the voice of God in your heart? Are you ready to apply proper faith skills to everything and lean not on our own understanding of anything? That’s a scary question for some people for sure.
~ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; 1 Peter 2:9
~ For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16
~ And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2
~ But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. Daniel 12:4
~ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. proverbs 3:5-6
God Wants to Teach You The Meaning of All Things
~ “I remember I was speaking in Atlanta, Georgia at an Exchange Life conference a number of years ago. And at that one, at the end of one of those lectures. This young lady came up and said, Bob, can I talk to you? And we sat down and started crying and pulled out her Bible and showed me a date in her Bible. And she said, Bob, that was, I heard you speak, on imputed righteousness. There’s the date that it happened. And my whole life changed. I heard your message on imputed righteousness, and my life changed. And I looked at her and I said, Well, I’m glad it did something for you. Because it hadn’t done anything for me yet. I knew what it said and I could teach what it said. But I had not yet come to understand what it meant. That did not happen until later, when it hit what it meant to me, and have the righteousness of Christ Jesus imputed to me.” ~ Bob George

And we as Christians have got to call things as they are. We have to call that if I’m a worrier. It’s not that I have a healthy concern. I’m worried and worry is not of God. We have to understand the truth of these things. What do the lost do? What is the normal lifestyle of a normal lost person? Where do they meet with their friends in the coffee shops or the bars? You know the answer to that and so do I. If you’re in Christ Jesus We don’t belong in the bars anymore. You don’t belong there anymore. That’s I spent enough time in them. I drank all I needed before I came to Christ. And I tell people that alcohol destroys brain cells, and I have no more to lose. We have to understand the truth of that. There is behavior that is associated with lost people, God says, I want you to get over here, I want you to start living as a new creation. I want the words that come out of your mouth to be encouraging words, to be able to think as God has taught us to think. And that’s what Jesus is trying to do here. I want us to get rid of that pride that says, Don’t tell me to wash somebody’s feet. That servants job over there. He says, that’s an attitude you need to dismiss. That God has called us to be servants. Well, Peter didn’t understand that. He said, You’re never going to wash my feet, Lord, that’s the job of a servant. And Jesus answered in this way, Peter, unless I watch you, you’ll have no part with Me. He said something unless you allow me to cleanse you of all of your unrighteousness. And unless you allow me to take away your sins, you will have no part of me at all. You can’t come to me until you allow me to do what I came to do. Take away your sins at the cross and give life to you who are dead. You will have no part from me. You’re gonna have no part if saying, Well, I want Jesus resurrection, but I don’t want his cross. He said, I’m sorry, that doesn’t work that way you had to be you have to come to me by faith and what I accomplished for you. I love Peters reply. Well he said, If that’s the case, Lord, not just my feet, but my hands and my head as well. In other words, to scrub me from top to bottom. Great reply isn’t? Peter always had his foot in his mouth. So I guess when Jesus had to wash his feet, he probably got his lips wet as well, because he always had his foot in his mouth. But he had a heart. And Jesus answered, a person who’s only had a bath only needs to wash his feet. His whole body is clean, and you are clean. You are clean, though not every one of you, Who’s he talking about? Judas. For he knew who was going to betray him. And that was why he said, not everyone was clean.
When they had finished washing their feet, all of them, he put on his clothes and returned to the place at the meal. And then he asked that question, do you understand what I’ve done for you? And guys, this gets down to what we’ve talked about so many times, that we have to go to the meaning of the word of God. We can go to what the Bible says, and never know what it means. And that’s where, you know, God said it, I believe it that settles and I said nonsense. If God said it, that settles it, whether you believe it or not. But that’s not the issue that God said. And I believe it. The issue is God said it and I now know what it means. And the reason I know what it means is because I’ve allowed the Spirit of God who lives in me to reveal what it means because apart from the Spirit of God, revealing the meaning of the word of God, you will know what it says, but you’re not going to know what it means. A computer knows what it says. But no eye has seen or ear has heard or mind is conceived of those things that God has prepared for those who love Him. But it must be what? Revealed by who? The Spirit of God living in you. And that’s exactly why we can sit and memorize Scripture and not have a clue what it means.
I remember I was speaking in Atlanta, Georgia at an Exchange Life conference a number of years ago. That did not happen until later, when it hit what it meant to me, and have the righteousness of Christ Jesus imputed to me.
So he’s saying, do you understand what I’ve done for you? Because you could go tell somebody what I did. But do you understand what I have done and why I have done it? He said, You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightfully so for that’s what I am. But now that I, your Lord and Teacher have washed your feet, you should also wash one another’s feet. I’ve set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Now, again, I don’t think that it’s the footwashing that he’s talking about, I think he can say I shined your shoes today, and you shine mine, or shine others. But the whole issue isn’t in what he’s doing. The issue is that is to be a servant is to have the attitude of servitude, that there’s no assignment that I would not do to try to serve my brother and to help my brother. So I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master. This is the essence of what he is trying to get out of this passage, no servant is greater than his master. Nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you’ll be blessed if you do them. I don’t know what that says to you. What that says to me as a teacher, Minister, whatever I am, is that if I’ve been sent by God to be a messenger, I’m certainly no greater than you. And if you had been sent to be a messenger, you’re no greater than me. So why don’t we walk around acting like we’re greater than each other? Isn’t it strange how the apostle Paul and said, Who’s Peter and who’s Paul? Now man, if you couldn’t brag on Peter and Paul, you just don’t have a bragging rights. But he said, Who’s petered who’s Paul, we’re only servants. We sow the seeds, we water them, but God has to make them grow. He never saw himself as a big deal. Never saw himself as the one who was going to govern the Church of Jesus Christ, he, he saw himself as apostles the same way that we should see ourselves and that is out of the eyes of Christ Jesus, that no servant is greater than his master, nor a messenger greater than the one who sent him. And now that you do these things, or know these things, you’ll be blessed if you do them.
Now, guys, again, he’s saying, if you know these things, you’re going to be blessed if you do them. When you do them, you’re putting into practice what he said to do. So that’s where the obedience comes in. And it’s my love of God, that results in my dependency upon God that then results in my obedience to God. And so obedience comes from my attitude of dependency, and my attitude of dependency comes from my understanding of the love of God. It’s not that I loved him, but that he loved me first. And who reached down to me, he’s the God who reached down to you and me, met us where we were, and pulled us out of that miry clay, that we were in that condition that we were in into salvation. He did that for us. So he said, now that you and I know these things, you’re going to be blessed if you do them. And that’s true. When God says, to do something, we’re going to be blessed when we do it. It’s more blessed to do what? Give than to receive. Do we believe that? I mean, I sometimes wonder about that. Do I really believe that? That is more blessed to give than to receive. Well if that’s the case why don’t we do more giving? We know we cannot outgive God, why don’t we do more of that? Why don’t we do more giving with one another? You see someone in need. Give to them. What happens when you do? You’re blessed by it, makes you feel good. So he said, I’ve set this example that I want you to do. You’re going to be blessed if you do it. He’s not saying that if you don’t do it, I’m gonna zap you. Because he isn’t. He’s saying you’re gonna be blessed if you do it. And that doesn’t mean that I give you something he’s going to give you 10 times more. It means that you’re going to be blessed by what you’ve done. Whether you ever get thing that came back or not, that’s between you and God. But you don’t give in order to get. You give because there’s a need. And if there’s a need, you give to meet that need. And he says, when you do, you’ll be blessed for that.
He said, I’m not referring to all of you. I know those I’ve chosen. But this is to fill the scripture that says, He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel against me. I’m telling you now, before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe that I am He. I tell you the truth that Whoever accepts anyone I send, accepts me. And Whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me. Do you know guys, you go out? You’re a child of God are you? If you’re in Christ, you’re a child of God. You go out where you work, or play or wherever it might be. And you tell people about this marvelous Jesus, that you have come to know personally. And they reject you. Who are they rejecting? Who does Jesus say they’re rejecting? Him. Him and when you reject him, you reject the God who sent him. You’re rejecting the totality of God, when God has sent a servant here on this earth, and you reject that servant, you are rejecting God who sent them. Whether you think they’re worthy, or whether you don’t think they’re worthy is not the issue. The issue is, if God has sent you, and you’re rejected, they’re rejecting the God who sent you. Now, there’s a lot of people who say that I’m sent by God. And one of the ways that you can tell whether or not they’re sent by God is what are they teaching? Because what sets you apart and how God sets you apart, is not in the way you dress, or the way you act, or how many radio stations you own or how many radio stations you’re on. But he accepts you predicated on. How do you know truth?

Truth is what separates you from the world. Not what you’re doing, but truth. And so when a person is set apart by God, and if a person is listening to the voice of God, then they’re going to be teaching what? Truth. isn’t God the one who is full of grace and what? Truth. What else you got to be teaching? Grace. Now Paul, was stringent on this guy’s when people were commingling, long grace, he was saying you people have lost your mind. You foolish, idiotic Galatians you can say you dumb Dalasites. Who has fooled you who’s cast a spell upon you? He said you used to see the meaning of Christ’s death as clearly as though I placed a place card in front of you said if you’ve gone man, listen to what Paul said about people commingling on Grace. Have you gone crazy? I want to ask you a question. Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law or by believing what you heard? What’s the answer to that guy’s? Believe in what you heard. Well, then after starting by faith, why are you now trying to perfect yourself by human effort? You’re set apart by what you believe, and how you act upon what you believe. That’s what sets you apart. This is what I believe and this is what I’m gonna do. That’s what sets you apart. How do you know if ministers or people are set apart? By what they teach. If I came into here and said, Guys, come on, we’re going to have a little slain in the Spirit service. Got to come down, knock you over. That’s what Spirit of God came to do is knock you over. I thought the Bible said the Spirit of God came to give you life, didn’t you? They said no, it came knock you down. You know something about that guy. He’s a charlatan. I don’t care how big he is. I don’t care how many people he draws. It just means that you got a whole bunch of people that are stupidly following a charlatan. Is that all over? Is it popular? Sure, draws 1000s of people. And everybody says must be good. No, it isn’t good. It’s false.
Come down and say the way you’re saved is to get baptized. By who? I’ve been baptized every way there is to get baptized. I was dunked in a Christian church three times and named the Father and Son and Holy Spirit like to drown me. Join the Presbyterian Church and was sprinkled, join the Baptist Church was dunked. So if you’re saved for baptism, I’ve had a triple whammy. Not a one of those save me, not a one. I asked a guy called any radio the other night who believes a baptismal regeneration. I said, who died for your sins? He said, Jesus. Who was raised from the dead? Jesus. Who baptized you? My pastor. Where you find that in the Bible? salvation is two thirds Jesus one third your pastor. So do you don’t believe that you save a baptism, you believe that you’re saved by baptism and your church, by your pastor dunked in your waters? And where you’re going to find that in the Scripture, people are teaching that’s teaching a false doctrine. How do you know they’re not set apart by God? Because of what they’re teaching. I’ve told you guys, and I’ve told people on the radio for 20 years, do not believe it, I’m telling you, I could be lying out my teeth to you. You don’t have to be honest to be on the radio or on television for sure. Any old charlatan will do. So if I’m telling you something, and I’m sharing something with you, you go into the Word of God and let God reveal that to you. Because when he reveals it, you’re taught. Otherwise, you’re just believing what I believe.
We must get into the Word of God. You’re never going to grow in Christ until you get in the Word of God. You can’t use that Bible to sit on your bed and use it when you need it. You need it every day. It’s food. I don’t notice too many of you are missing meals. But we’re missing the meal of the Scripture. We need to get into the Word of God and meditate upon it and ponder it and ask the Spirit of God who lives in us. What does this mean? Or what does this mean? To me? When that happens, we’re going to grow. But I want us to understand that when you go into this world, number one, you go out into this world. And you talk about Jesus to people, you may as well forget about running for sheriff, you’re not gonna be real popular with the world. But they’re not rejecting you. You’re just a Western Union boy. You’re just delivering the message. They’re rejecting the messenger. And that’s exactly what he’s saying here. That I tell you the truth that Whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me. And Whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.
After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in SPIRIT and He testified that tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me. His disciples His disciples stared at one another at a loss to know which one did He mean? So guys, it didn’t seem to be too much evidence in Judas. That he was the one who was going to betray them. It seemed like they didn’t know who it was it was going to betray them. So Judas must have been acting pretty good. You know, we all become actors. We’re like parrots and apes. We can act like Christian and parrot the verbiage of Christian but so he sounded like he was one of the guys. Evidently, because they didn’t had didn’t have a clue who it was. One of them the disciple who love Jesus, and that’s referring to the apostle John was reclining next to him and Simon Peter motion to this disciple and said, ask him which one he means. You wonder, why didn’t Peter asking? Probably because he’s afraid he and say you. So leaning back against Jesus, the apostle John asked him, Lord, who is it? And Jesus answered it’s the one to whom I give this piece of bread when I’ve dipped it in the dish. And then dipping the piece of bread. He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. And as soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. Can Satan enter into a believer, a true believer? No. was Judas a true believer? I want to ask you another question. Were any of the disciples at that time, what you and I would call a true believer? Now how come because Pentecost hadn’t occurred yet. Pentecost was the day when the Holy Spirit of God was going to ascend upon born again, people, people who are willing to accept the truth that God had revealed to us that we are sinners, and that we are dead, and we are in need of life. And on the Day of Pentecost was the first day that everyone was born again, as we are born again today. In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit came upon believers for divine service and then left. And until Pentecost, none of us were permanently indwelt by the Holy Spirit of God. But if the Spirit of God we’re told does not live in us, then we’re not a part of him. So you couldn’t be BORN AGAIN of the Spirit apart from the invasion of the Holy Spirit of God into our lives. And that’s why we’re born again. That’s why we’re alive the Spirit of God is is who brought life to us who were dead. The cross took away the cause of death, and the Spirit brought us life is the only solution to death. And so until the day of Pentecost, no one was born again as we are today. So think about that for a moment. As to only in these 2000 or so years, were people born again, such as you are, and I am today, permanently, indwelt by the Spirit with no way in the world for the Spirit of God to depart from us. You teach you can lose salvation, why don’t we just call salvation what salvation is? It’s life. And so you’re saying, can I lose life spiritual life? No way. Why? Because of the cross where He took away the cause of death. To me, it isn’t even a theological issue. It’s a very practical issue, that I am dead spiritually. The Spirit of God does not live in me [when I’m dead spirtually].
He took away the cause of spiritual death before he could give me life, Had he given me life and not taken away the cause of spiritual death, which is sin. The next time I said, What would happen to me? I’d die again. And the reason that I know that I have eternal life is because of the eternal consequence of the cross of Christ Jesus, where he took away the sins of the entire world. Is that good news, guys? And that’s why you and I can rest in the fact that we are eternally secure in Christ Jesus, He gave us an eternal inheritance. And eternal inheritance means it lasts forever. He didn’t give you temporal life, he gave you eternal life. He didn’t give you a temporal inheritance. He gave us an eternal inheritance. It’s forever. That’s why there should be no fear of death for a believer. Because for a believer, it’s a promotion day. It’s the day you get promoted out of this junk body of ours into the presence of Christ Jesus. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Isn’t that good news? So if you don’t have to fear death, why should you have to fear life?
So he said to Judas, what you’re about to do do quickly. But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this, then they still didn’t understand that Judas was the culprit here. Since Judas had charge of the money that ought to tell them something. Isn’t that right Bob Christopher?
Some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the feast or to give something to the poor. But as soon as Jesus had taken the bread, he went out, and it was night. When he was gone, Jesus said, now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. He’s made known now. If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the son in himself and will glorify him at once. “My children,” isn’t that some term, oh, God, calling us His children? My little children, I’ll be with you for only a little longer. You’ll look for me. And just as I told the Judaeans [Ἰουδαίοις (Ioudaiois)], so I tell you now where I’m going, you cannot come. A new command I give you, Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. And By this all men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another. He didn’t say that. all men will know you’re my disciples by your church attendance by your tithing record. By cross necklace, by your bumper sticker. By the plaque card on the back of the donkey, saying snort if you love Jesus. He said that the world will know that your disciples if you love one another.

John 3:3
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
