Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P1114 (03-19-26)
Salvation is Life
~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12
~ When we are in Christ Jesus, we will be bombarded by temptations of the flesh in more ways than one. And satan will stroke those desires by what we see and hear around us. So it’s important to understand where those temptations are coming from and to also recognize that we will have those temptations until we are absent from the body of this flesh and blood and present with the Lord in our new bodies. So, don’t beat yourself up when you are tempted in the flesh. It is normal. Simply go back to Him and focus on Truth. And don’t let satan put you on a guilt trip either. Because that is another desire of the flesh also. It’s all tied together. Many times we think the temptation that we fall into is the only desire of the flesh, but then we overlook that our feeling guilty is the other aspect that satan wants us to focus on. Both of which focus on self instead of the Truth of the word of God. Bottom line, Jesus took away ALL your sins at the cross. Place Faith always in that Truth, no matter what. Don’t let anyone place you on a guilt trip today, not even yourself.

Bob George addresses callers’ questions on faith and Christian living. He advises against disassociating from a son living in homosexuality, emphasizing the need to ensure the son understands the true gospel of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. He stresses that salvation is about receiving life, not just forgiveness. Bob also counsels a caller from Denver to encourage his nephew to study the Bible and discern error, rather than dictating church attendance. He reassures a caller from Corpus Christi that temptations are normal but can be overcome by focusing on truth and the Holy Spirit. Bob encourages listeners to seek truth and live according to their identity in Christ.
“Well, Rick, the issue is, as long as you’re in this body, this body of yours contains indwelling sin. It’s called flesh. And as long as you’re in this body, then that part of you, the humanity, part of you, is what flesh is, and that is indwelt by indwelling sin. And there’s the conflict is between the desires of the flesh and the desires of the Spirit that live in you. And we’re told that we have the ability to participate in the divine nature that lives in you. In other words, you’re going to either participate in your flesh, or you’re going to participate in this new nature of Christ, Jesus, that lives in you. And so the temptations will always be there. You will have those temptations till the day you fall in the grave. That’s one of the beauties of us, being released from these bodies of ours and entering into what the world calls death. But to us, it really is the entering into eternal life, into Christ Jesus, and to shed these bodies that contain indwelling sin, and to be able to see him, it says, as he is, and become like him. But until that time, there’s going to be these conflicts. Now, what you have to do Rick is to understand that Christ, Jesus, if you’re truly born again, then you came to Christ for far more than his forgiveness, because that’s not what salvation is. Salvation involves forgiveness, but salvation is what cleared the deck for for salvation. The Cross cleared the deck for salvation. Salvation is being saved from the consequence of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life. And so when, when we’re truly saved, and when the dynamic of the Christian life is evident in our life, is when we have come to Christ, recognizing that I had a problem far greater than sin, and it’s the consequence called death. And until I see myself as dead, why would I ever have any appreciation for him bringing me resurrection life? And we, many times, have a half Jesus, Rick because we, in our evangelicalism, has just come to Jesus to get your sins forgiven. Well, your sins are already forgiven. You’re born into this world with your sins forgiven. The whole world’s sins were forgiven. But not all people are saved. Because salvation is not just getting your sins forgiven, it’s being saved from the consequence of sin, which is death by the gift of God, which is life, and that’s resurrection. So there’s two things we have to understand about our condition. Rick, one, we’re a sinner and no sins need forgiven, and we are dead and death needs corrected. Forgiveness does not bring life to the dead. Life brings life to the dead, and the only life available to us is the resurrected life of Christ, Jesus, and that’s why Paul is able to say, without the resurrection, we’re to be pitied of all people and are still in our sins, knowing full well that a cross had occurred where Jesus took away our sins, but also knowing full well that what was provided then is received only in the resurrected life of Christ, Jesus. Okay, and so when we recognize that I have come to Christ, and I don’t walk around with a half gospel, that I have a full gospel, I came to him thanking him for the forgiveness that was given to me at the cross and receiving the resurrected life, that is the only solution to the consequence of sin, which is death. And I am alive now in Christ, Jesus, I’m alive in him, and he’s alive in me. Now, if the Spirit of God is living in you, he’s going to be directing you into all truth and setting you free with that. So when these temptations come, you don’t have to wonder who’s putting it in your head. It’s not God, it’s Satan. It’s Satan. So so your deal is to quit listening, or you can’t stop listening, but quit internalizing these temptations, recognizing where they’re coming from, and telling Satan to go get lost and current and start fulfilling and filling your mind full of truth from God’s word, discounting the error that is in Satan’s instructions to you, Satan cannot stand truth. And when temptations come, when you start meditating and quoting truth in your mind or out loud, whatever it is. He’s going to flee. He can’t stand listening to that. Okay? And so, you know, you say, Well, yeah, you know, you can get by with this if you lie. And God says no, truth will always set you free. Rick and those are two voices, and you’ve got to have a choice as to which one you’re going to give into. But, but your temptations are always going to be there.” ~ Bob George

John 6:28,29
28 Therefore they said to Him, “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?”
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.”
