The Holy Spirit Indwelt People on the Day of Pentecost

~ “And during the arriving of the day of Pentecost, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a sound like a violent rushing wind came out of heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them dividing tongues as of fire and sat upon each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit was giving to them to utter forth.” Acts 2:1-4

– It wasn’t until the day of Pentecost, after Jesus had risen from the dead, that He sent the Holy Spirit to indwell people. Prior to that, in Old testament days, the Spirit came upon people for service, but did not indwell them permanently, as on the Day that the Holy Spirit came forth to indwell New Testament believers. The Holy Spirit never leaves a person today, no matter what. When you have the Spirit, you Have Life that is eternal. It is not something you get in the future, after you fall asleep in this body of flesh. A person who is in Christ Jesus is absent from the body and present with the Lord immediately transformed into a new body of flesh and bone. A child of God never dies.

“Well again, obviously they didn’t receive him that day because the Holy Spirit had not been given. It was given on the day of Pentecost. So when he said, receive, that was a future event to take place, that when it is offered, which it was offered to not only them, but to all people on the day of Pentecost, why to? Don’t deny that, but receive. It is the thing that some denomination has confused, unbelievably, is the forgiveness of sins there. If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. Well, if that’s the case, well, that means that he didn’t die and forgive the sins of the whole world. But we forgive sins because they are forgiven and and if you don’t forgive, it’s because they’re not well. The only sin that is not forgiven is the unpardonable sin, or the rejection of the Son of God. And we have as born again believers, people who are indwelt by the Spirit of God have the absolute authority of going into the world and saying to a person that your sins are forgiven. I certainly don’t tell a person that your sins can be forgiven. Your sins are forgiven, but you haven’t received those that forgiveness yet, if you have not come to the life that is available to you through the resurrection. So we do have the privilege of saying that to any born again believer that if you forgive a person’s sins, it’s because they are ready already forgiven, and therefore you forgive them. And the only unforgivable sin, as I said, Bill, is the sin of the rejection of the Son of God. Precisely why Jesus said in the earlier chapters of John that the world’s sin is unbelief in me.” – Bob George
