Be Taught By God, NOT by Man

~ Most today do not understand what the word of God means. Oh, many can repeat what the word of God says, but they do not have a clue what the word of God means. The reason they do not understand, is because they do not have the Spirit of Truth living in them. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and He will share with you ALL Truth if you are willing to listen to Him. However, there are many times, even as a true child of God, that we either lean on our own understanding of things, or go to some commentary (regardless of who is actually doing the commenting), even if it is someone that we trust, to try and get some insight on the Truth of the word of God. Scripture tells us that we who are in Christ, and Christ is in us, then we have the mind of God living in us. And He is the one that we ought to trust for ALL Truth. Don’t trust anyone, not even yourself, to think that you know Truth apart from the Truth of the Word of God.

As has been mentioned in the past, we have all been deceived by the things we all were taught in the world, and what our parents passed on down to us (even though they did it with most notably as good intentions), yet they too were deceived by the god of this world (Satan). And if you have not realized this for yourself, that you have been deceived, then you are still living under the Great Deception where all the Nations of the world are deceived which is going on today. You will run for escape in the things of this world. You will be glued to the TV or radio, watching and listening to news to feed your brain of lies, or believing that there is someone in politics that is going to be the answer for everything, or love your television and movies and movie stars, or in love with your singer idols (no matter who they are), or love your sporting events and sports stars, thinking how wonderful they are playing. Or on the other end of the spectrum you will be living in fear, fear of everything. You will be afraid to go out of your home, afraid to go shopping, afraid of even being around people, because after all, that is what they told you to be fearful of. Many will even be in fear of death, exactly as Satan wants people to be. Once a person is held in fear, they can be manipulated left and right in any direction the enemy wants. But we who are in Christ Jesus, He did not give us a Spirit of fear. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Consider having a Bible study yourself and teaching one or two others the Truth of the word of God. Those with ears, they will want to hear. We have many excellent Bible study books that are very easy to use that involve simply reading the word of God and answering the questions provided. The answers themselves are right there in the word of God.

Among the mature, however, we speak a message of wisdom—but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we speak of the mysterious and hidden wisdom of God, which He destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it. For if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. Rather, as it is written:

“No eye has seen,

no ear has heard,

no heart has imagined,

what God has prepared for those who love Him.”

But God has revealed it to us by the Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of man except his own spirit within him? So too, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment. “For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. ^{1 Corinthians 2:6-16}

Lord Jesus, teach me the TRUTH of the world we live in today and the Truth of You.

“Dave, I appreciate your listening, my brother, and keep listening. Keep growing in grace, Dave, I think the most important thing in the world for is if a person has truly been indwelt by the Spirit of God, he has everything that he needs for being able to open up the Word of God and ask God to reveal the meaning of it to him, and have God to do so we don’t have to depend upon it says in there, we don’t need teachers. Now, why did God give us teachers? Well, teachers can encourage us. I believe that God gave me a gift of teaching, and I can certainly teach people what God has revealed to me. But unless God teaches that to you, individually, you’re only taught by me, but you’re not taught by God. So that’s why, in my entire Christian life and I came to Christ in 1969 Dave, I refused as a brand new Christian. I have no idea why I did that. I had no idea at all. I refused to read a commentary. I refused that because there was something inside of me that said that if God can tell that person what the Bible means, he can tell me what it means, and I don’t have to depend upon him. I don’t know why I believe that, but I believed it with all my heart and refused to listen to other people’s opinions on those things. And basically was with an attitude of dependency that Lord, if you don’t teach me, I’m not going to be taught. And so I just encourage you with that, Dave, that if you’ve got the Bible, you’ve got the Holy Spirit living in you continue to study and get to know the depth of Christ and the depth of his love to the point where one of these days, as all of us, one of these days, we’ll be able to literally verbalize what Paul did, that I’m convinced that there’s nothing that can separate me from the love of God. And that’s basically what God is pointing each and every one of us for or toward, is to come to that point in our lives where we know the love of God and that passes understanding.” ~ Bob George
