God Will Complete The Work He Began in You

~ But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

~ When we get our focus on ourselves, instead of God, we lose sight of TRUTH. We are not to focus on ourselves, but on the Faithful One of God who will carry out to completetion the work He began in us. The adversary would have us to focus on ourselves. And satan has indeed done a good job of keeping our attention on ourselves, instead of reconginzing what Jesus has done for us at the cross, and continues to do in and through us on a moment by moment basis throughout our lives. So focus on Jesus, and do not let satan place you on a guilt trip of your own. It is NOT coming from God. For if God is NOT remembering your sins anymore, why should we be bringing them up? And note that the Holy Spirit is God too, and He is NOT bringing your sins up against you either. Rest in the finality of the cross today. Stop bringing up what God has forgotten.

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23,24

if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. 2 Timothy 2:13

In this Classic Christianity Radio segment, Bob George takes several call-in questions centered on Christian life and doctrine. Francisco asks whether believers will retain their memories when we are with Jesus and about a friend who loves the Lord but feels disqualified from prayer and Bible reading because he can’t quit smoking; Bob responds that when believers are present with Jesus, we will be fully preoccupied with God while still recognizing loved ones, and that smoking is a harmful, unnecessary habit but does not block access to God’s grace, prayer, or Scripture. D.W. then asks how ongoing sin relates to living by faith; Bob explains that sin springs from unbelief, yet God no longer deals with believers on the basis of their sins but on their new life in Christ, using human weakness to keep them dependent on Him. Deborah calls about a Mormon who claims to be Christian, and Bob strongly distinguishes Mormon doctrine (and Jehovah’s Witness teaching) from biblical Christianity, especially regarding the person of Christ, Scripture, and the nature of God. Finally, another caller struggles with the idea that more people may go to hell than be with Jesus and wonders whether that means God “loses”; Bob rejects framing God’s work as a win–lose contest with satan, emphasizing instead that God’s plan is to offer salvation in Christ and that people freely choose to accept or reject that offer.

“And so the issue is that when Jesus took away the sins of the world, He took them away from the eyes of God. He didn’t take the sins away from you. He took them away from the eyes of God till God sees them no more. And God is not dealing with you on the basis of sin today, but on the basis of a new life. The sin issue has been settled. The unpardonable sin of the rejection of Christ Jesus has been settled. You’re now a believer, and now as a believer, you’re in a you’re in a lifelong process of of being conformed into the image of Christ. And quite frankly, D.W. if you never sinned, you’d forget Jesus in a New York minute, and that’s why Paul says to rejoice in your weakness, because it’s in your weakness that God’s strength becomes manifest. If I never sinned, I would, you know, I know how we are as humans. We’d forget Christ. It’s when I realize my weakness is when I depend on Him for His strength, when I realize that Lord I can’t, that’s when I’m going to depend upon Him who can. And so, even though it’s un, it seems like it’s it’s just a terrible thing that we have to live with. There’s a sense in which it’s a God could have saved us and eliminated the sin nature within us. He did. He didn’t do so for a reason, and I think the reason is it’s what keeps us dependent upon Christ. So don’t get preoccupied with your failures. Your failures have been put behind the back of God, never to see them again. What God wants to do now is to deal with you on the basis of a new life. Remember, in the Scripture, everything is permissible, but not all things are profitable. And I think that’s our decision-making process. Is it permissible? Yes, it is. If I can, I go out tonight and get drunk as a born-again believer. Absolutely. Is it permissible? Yes. Is it profitable? Be the dumbest thing I’d ever want to do, and that’s and that’s the decision making process. If it wasn’t permissible, it would be the law, and the power of sin is in the law, make you want to go do it. The issue is, yeah, I can do it if I wanted to, but it would be the dumbest thing in the world for me. It’s not profitable.” ~ Bob George
