Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P1175 (10-22-26)

~ And He Himself continually stands as the propitiation and complete legal satisfaction concerning our sins; and not concerning ours alone, but with absolute certainty, also concerning the legal debt of the entire, undivided world. ~ 1 John 2:2

The program featured three callers asking Bob George about Christian practice and biblical teaching. Randy, from Wallport, Oregon, asked about communion when he wasn’t attending a formal church. Bob described the church as the community of believers rather than a building, and said believers can gather as the church in different settings.

On communion, Bob referred to 1 Corinthians 11 and argued that taking the Lord’s Supper “in an unworthy manner” concerns selfish behavior toward other believers, such as eating and drinking without regard for them. He characterized communion as a visual reminder of belonging to Christ’s body, rather than a ritual of searching oneself for sin.

Randy also asked whether to attend a local church that teaches mostly from the Bible or stay home and listen to the radio program. Bob encouraged him to seek a church grounded in Scripture and to ask pastors for the biblical basis of teachings he found unclear. He acknowledged that, in Bob’s view, staying home would be preferable to sitting under false teaching.

Elizabeth asked whether baptism is necessary for salvation, citing Mark 16:16. Bob questioned using Mark 16:9–20 as the basis for doctrine because, he said, some early manuscripts do not include that passage. He presented salvation as God’s work received through faith, distinguishing water baptism—which he described as a public expression of faith—from spiritual baptism into Christ.

Finally, Kevin asked about Acts 3:19 and the call to repent so that sins may be blotted out. Bob interpreted Peter’s words as addressing people who had rejected Jesus and urging them to turn to him. He emphasized his view that Christ’s work on the cross provided complete forgiveness, and said a believer’s response to sin should be gratitude for that finished work rather than seeking forgiveness again.
