Salvation is Eternal Life When The Holy Spirit Comes to Live in a Person

~ “And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2

~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12

Behold, the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world. Folks, it’s so important to understand that God is not a vending machine for forgiveness. No one “gets” their sins forgiven today, not even once. For without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness by God. And God took away the sins of the world one time, for all sins, for ALL people. He doesn’t forgive a person over and over and over again. He forgave everyone at the cross. But the cross and forgiveness is NOT life. Life is when a person places Faith in Jesus, God in the flesh, for having taken away their sins, and God is no longer counting them against anyone today. And when a person places Faith in Him, and what He did for them at the cross, the Holy Spirit comes to live in them, and give them eternal life, His Spirit is Eternal, for ALL time. Nor did Jesus atone for sin (as in some of the translations have the word atone). That’s what the blood of bulls and goats did, covered sins. Jesus took away sins forever.

Most people today think they get their sins forgiven when the first time they ask or asked for it. But that is not Faith. That’s a presumption that they are getting their sins forgiven because that is the teaching of Man and demons. So put it to rest, and trust in God to have done it at the cross. Now receive His life. And if you are not sure of your understanding on forgivness, that is simple to fix. Repent, change your mind, and thank God that He forgave you at the cross. It’s as simple as that. A child like Faith that says thank you God!

Bob George addresses a caller, Eric, struggling with drug addiction and offers biblical guidance. Eric acknowledges his personal relationship with Christ but lacks understanding of the full gospel, which includes Christ’s life rather than just forgiveness. Bob emphasizes the need for Eric to accept Christ fully as his Lord. Bob also advises Robert from Waco, Texas, to confront his wife and the youth minister about an inappropriate relationship. He advises Doug from Indianapolis to communicate with his mother-in-law about the boundaries of their relationship. Bob clarifies theological points about faithfulness and disownment in 2 Timothy 2:11-13.

“Eric again, I think can be a part of the problem. I’ve asked this question, I don’t know how many times in the 16 years that we’ve been on the air. And here’s the problem with that, Eric, and it’s because, in my opinion, that we have poor evangelicalism. Dying for your sins is wonderful. Thank God for that. But that was merely the way in which God cleared the deck for the divine action of bringing life to the dead. What I was talking to Janie about, because you got a far greater problem than sins. It’s called Death, The wages or the by product of sin, is death, spiritual death. And so many times people have come to Christ merely with an understanding to get their sins forgiven, kind of a fire insurance policy. I don’t want to go to hell and and I know I’m a sinner, and so Jesus died for the sins of the world. So I’ll come to get my sins forgiven. But we miss what salvation is, because Romans five tells us that while we were yet enemies, and that means lost. We were reconciled to God through the death of his son. How much more having been reconciled shall we be saved by His life? So we’re not saved merely by the death of Christ. You’re saved by the life of Christ, and what we’re saved from is the wages, the consequence of sin, which is death by the gift of God, which is eternal life. And that’s why, when you have the Son, you have what life so many times, Eric, a person says, Well, I’m saved, but I don’t have any power over this flesh of mine, and said, and so what you’re dealing with there is, have you come to him for the fullness of what the gospel is? And that’s not just his death for you, but his life in you, because otherwise you have no power to conquer the very things you’re talking about. So Eric, the first, the first stop that I want to make on this journey is to be sure that if you and your understanding of the gospel, because it says the gospel saves, it’s the truth of the gospel, and the gospel is the work of Christ saves you, that you have a full understanding that. Your salvation is not just getting sins forgiven, but was the receiving of the very life of Christ to come in and take residence in your life. And if you didn’t understand that, and many people don’t, why, then they’re out. They say they think, Well, my sins are forgiven and I’m saved, but I don’t have any power. And so the only thing I can do here is to ask you, where do you think you are in this process? Do you think that you understood these truths, or are you just now coming to understand them?” – Bob George
