Classic Christianity – The Book of John P68 (07-11-23)
Your Sins Have Already Been Forgiven at the Cross. It is Finished!
“When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, ‘It is finished,’ and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit” John 19:30
~ How many times do we hear the lies, come to Jesus to get your sins forgiven? Walk down the aisle to get your sins forgiven. Go to the confession booth to get your sins forgiven. 1 John 1:9 to get your sins forgiven. Say the Lord’s prayer to get your sins forgiven? On and on it goes and hardly anyone says STOP it, It is Finished! People are much too comfortable in making their flesh feel good. They will say things like, it makes me feel good to ask for forgiveness by God. They in essence are walking around in unbelief and being a controlled opposition spokesperson for Satan, selling the lies for Satan himself. The details are important in our understanding of all things, and if a person is not understanding the details that all your sins were forgiven at the cross, and continues pushing the lies of Satan, Satan ends up having a wonderful field day with them. He will puff them up in person and online with a whole bunch of wonderful “likes” from people that they don’t even know. He will sow to their flesh, and will even put men in front of them that promote the lies of Satan and people will place these same false teachers on a pedestal too.
In reality, most people don’t have a clue about “Tetelestai, it is finished.” They would much rather believe the lies of Satan and the teaching of man than to trust in the Holy Spirit teaching for ALL truth. They bring to themselves false ministers of righteousness, and even promote these same people online that teach what their itching ears want to hear, instead of the Truth of the word of God. We are told that would be the case in the last days, yet people give lip service to the word of God even here, not believing that Satan’s agents are transformed into ministers of righteousness. For most don’t have a clue how evil the world really is and they are even misunderstanding that a child of God judges ALL things. Satan doesn’t want the child of God to know even the truth of judging ALL things. Satan wants a person weak and to operate in the energy of their flesh. So people are afraid in their flesh to tell it like it is, for they think people will judge them back. Because they don’t know the truth of the word of God, they cower to men, instead of being bold in Christ Jesus and abiding in truth. Maybe it is because many of these people are actually not even saved. For they may know what the word of God says, but don’t have a clue what it means.
~ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2 Timothy 4:3,4
~ Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. 2 Corinthians 11:15
~ But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 1 Corinthians 2:15
There is Only One Sin That Needs Repented of, The Sin of Unbelief in Jesus.
~ “Therefore the only sin that is attributable to a man is the rejection of the Son of God who came to do that for you. But you see, we’re fearful. We don’t understand this message of the Holy Spirit. We don’t understand the message that Jesus is alive living in as guiding us into all truth. And so therefore, we’ve got to concentrate on sin. And we’ve got to have our messages and point our bony fingers to everyone that you if you keep on doing what you’re doing, God’s gonna get you. Is that true? No, God already dealt with your sin. Your sin was judged. Where was the judged? At the cross. What was the verdict? Death. Who took it? Jesus. How much of it? All of it. How much is left for you? None. And that’s precisely why it says there’s no condemnation, awaiting those of you who belong to Christ Jesus, for the law of the Spirit of Life, set you free from the law of sin and death. You and I were born under the law of sin and death. And we were freed from that by the law of the resurrected life of Christ Jesus. Precisely why the Apostle Paul said, without the resurrection were to be pitied of all people that are still in our sins, knowing full well a cross had occurred where he took away the sins of the world. But he said, without the resurrection, you’re still lost, because the resurrection is what produced life, the cross produce forgiveness. You don’t raise a person from the dead by forgiving them. You raise a person from the dead by giving them life. And the only life available to us is the life of Christ Jesus, the resurrected one, the one who loved us and gave himself for us. And this is what Jesus was trying to get across to his people, he was saying, I am going to die on a cross that take away the sins of the entire world. Do you realize that Jesus died for Hitler’s sins? Took them away. Is he saved? Or was he saved? Not less, he came to Christ for life. Folks, what was provided for you then, is only received in the resurrected life of Christ Jesus. That’s why he said, Come on to me. all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I’ll give you rest in peace for your soul. He didn’t say come to me for forgiveness, because you’re already forgiven. You don’t tell a person to come and get your sins forgiven. You tell them what the Bible says that God was in Christ already reconciling the world unto Himself, not counting your sins against you. When did he do that? When you were yet enemies, we were reconciled to God to the death of his Son. When were you reconciled? When you were an enemy? What does that mean? You were lost? You were born reconciled to God to the death of your Son. Romans five, eight, but how much more now, having been reconciled, shall you be saved by His life? You’re not saved by the death of Christ, you’re saved for the life of Christ.” ~ Bob George

We’re going to turn into the 14th chapter of John. And here is again, we’re into the last days of Christ Jesus prior to his death, burial and resurrection. We’re coming upon the day that he came for; he was born to die, and to be raised from the dead. That God had looked down on man. And again, seen us in our condition, when Adam died, we all died. And again, guys, I cannot overemphasize that I know you’ve heard this over and over again. But the problem that we had is spiritual death, that we are born into this world dead, spiritually. Death is the absence of life, just like darkness is the absence of light. We were born dead. That’s a dilemma that thought the day that you eat there of you will surely die. And he died spiritually that day, the life of God departed from man, leaving us with a human spirit, dead to the God who created us to be in dwelt in that spirit. And so we’re born dead. And the problem that God had to solve is how can I solve this problem of spiritual death eternally? I know that the only way that you can solve the problem of death is with life. But I also have to solve the reason for spiritual death. And that was sin. And the average person does not understand and the more you go around and talk to people, such as Denver and everyplace else, this the same story, that what we have done in the Christian life is to stop at the cross. The cross is the bridge that you must cross to enter into spiritual life. But your problem is that you’re dead. And in order to come to life eternal, he had to deal eternally with what caused spiritual death, which is sin. And in order to deal with sin, he had to deal with it eternally, once and for all, and take it away from the eyes of God, so that he can offer you and me the solution to the consequence of sin, which is death by his resurrected life. And in order to do that, he had to take away the sins of the world. When God died on the cross, He took away the sins of the entire world. Now we in the Christian world said, Amen, we believe that but no, we don’t believe it. Or we wouldn’t be teaching people that God’s gonna get you if you sin. Because God’s already gotten you if you sin, he got his Son. He took that sin away at the cross. No man will ever go to hell because of his sins. Because your sins have been put behind the back of God, never to see them again. Now you have people say you teach that you’re gonna cause people to sin. That’s why we said in Texas see sin. No, you’re not. Because what you’ve been teaching hasn’t kept anyone from sin. The issue is that had to be done. That was an act of God, that had to be done. If he was going to offer us eternal life. You’re not saved by the death of Christ. You’re saved by the life of Christ. You’re saved from the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life. I came that you might have life. I am the resurrection and the life. He who has the Son has life he does not have the Son of God does not have life. The whole issue of salvation is I was dead and Christ came and gave me life and in order to do that he had to take away the sins of the entire world.
Therefore the only sin that is attributable to a man is the rejection of the Son of God who came to do that for you. You’re not saved by the death of Christ, you’re saved for the life of Christ.
In my experience, we’ve been streaming people down aisles for years and years and years said, come forward and get your sins forgiven. Is that true? No, Your sins already are forgiven. Now come forward and receive the one who did that. Receive the one who provided that for you. The one who was raised from the dead to now cure your problem, death, by his resurrection of life. That’s the good news of the gospel. You don’t go to people and tell them how sinful they are. You go to people and tell you how dead you are. And we’re around trying to tell everybody how sinful they are. Well, I’m gonna tell you something, guys. If you’re gonna gauge people on how sinful you are, you’re gonna have to have a pretty good system. Because of your sins worse than mine. And if yours are worse than mine, somebody’s worse than somebody else’s. The whole issue isn’t how bad you are, or how bad you stinkith, it is how dead you are. And when you’re dead, you’re dead. And if you’re dead, you need life and the only life available to us guys is Jesus. That’s why it isn’t a case of are you a Muslim, or a Buddhist? Who cares what you are, you’re dead. Or a Catholic or a Baptist, you’re dead until you come to him for life. And he’s the only one that can give you life. Buddha can’t give you life. He’s still in his grave. Muhammad can’t give you life, he’s still in his grave. Only Jesus has the empty tomb. So it isn’t a case of religion, it’s a very practical issue. God looked down on his creation and said, I’ve got to provide a solution for my people. My people have been destroyed by Satan, they’re dead, and I got to have a solution, sent his Son. For that solution. He didn’t say Buddha, or Mohammed or the Pope or anybody else. He sent Jesus, to take away the sins of the whole world. And God was in Christ reconciling the whole world unto Himself, not counting their sins against them. That isn’t a religious act, is a practical act. What’s the practicality of my people are dead? And I’m going to give them life. But in order to give them life, I have to take away eternally what caused death, which is sin. How many of you people know today sitting this room that you are a forgiving person? You’re not a person who gets forgiveness. You’re a forgiving person. Why? Because hopefully, you’ve come to Christ for His life. And it says in him, you have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Is that true or not? Are you in him? And what do you have? Redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Now, does that make you say, oh, we’ll be let’s go gets hammered tonight and go out and have an orgy? If that’s what you believe that’s an insult to the Jesus who lives in you isn’t it. And that’s where people said, oh, yeah, who, oh, don’t tell people that don’t tell people their sins are forgiven, don’t just go wild. Well, if they didn’t have the resurrected Christ, living in them, that’s probably true. But if Christ, Jesus came to live at what Jesus is trying to tell us here in this passage, I am coming to live in you. And I’m coming to lead you and to guide you into all truth. Before I came, you are guided by laws written on stone hard as a brick. And I’m going to come and live in you. And I’m going to be your guide. So Jesus says, If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I’ll ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever, forever. And he said, what that counselor is, is the Spirit of Truth. And that means when you come to Jesus, you are indwelt by truth. Now where you gonna find truth apart from Jesus? Reader’s Digest. There’s only one source of truth, folks, you have to have a gauge in your life, you have to have a compass in your life to know what direction you’re going. You got to have a plumb line to build a straight line. To build a building or hang wallpaper, you got to have a plumb line. And our plumb line is the Bible. Our plumb line is the word of God. And that’s where you have to go to find truth. What happened in the Garden of Eden was man stood there and said, I don’t need you God to determine right from wrong or good from evil, I’ll determine that on my own. On the day that they did, they died. And yet God said, in essence, you’re on your own. But there’s a way of redemption. And that’s through my Son.

And so Jesus says, when I go away, I’m with you now in physical form. But it’s good for you that I’m going away. Now, you’re gonna imagine the response of the apostles aren’t that good for us? And you’re going away? They said, Yeah, it is. Because when I do, I’m going to send my Spirit to live in you. And you are going to be by body here on this earth. If you were to look for the body of Christ, 2000 years ago, you’d had to go to Israel, and look up Jesus of Nazareth, and there you would have found the body of Christ, but he said, I’m going away. But my body is still going to be on this earth, but it’s going to be in a mystery form. It’s going to be in you and you are going to be my body. I will always be the head and you are my body. So I’m going to send the counselor. The world can accept him, the world doesn’t know anything about him. I before I was saved when I was 36, I’ve very seldom even knew much about Jesus. I had a cursory understanding, but Holy Spirit, you may as well been talking Swahili to me. World I didn’t know anything about Holy Spirit. The world can’t accept because it neither sees him or knows him. But he says you who are in Christ, you do know him. Why? Look at this guy’s, for he lives with you and will be where? In you. How many of you believe that Jesus lived with his disciples? How many of you believe that? Well, he said, If you believe that, then you’re going to have to believe that I am going to be in you. Because he said, he lives with you. And in essence, in a few days, I’m going to be in you, Christ living in you and me, our only hope of glory. I will not leave you. He’s saying, I’m going away, but I’m not going to leave you. I will come to you. Now, when did he ultimately come to us? What day was that? On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came for the first time to permanently indwell believers. So he said, I’m not going to leave you as an orphan. I’m going to come to you. Before long, the world will not see me any longer I won’t be here on this earth. But you will see me because I live, you also will live. Because I will be raised from the dead, you will be raised from the dead. And on that day, you will realize that I am in the Father, and that you are in Me, and I am in you. I am in Christ Jesus. And Christ Jesus is in me. Whoever has my commands, and obeys them, he’s the one who loves me. We’ll see what those commands are in a minute just two. And he loves Me will be loved by the Father. And I too will love him, and I will show myself to him.
Then Judas, not Judas Iscariot said, But Lord, why do you intend to show Yourself to us and not to the world? And Jesus replied, If anyone loves Me, he will obey my teaching, My Father will love him and we will come to him and make Our home with him. Remember the passage to as many as received Him, to them, he gave the right to become a child of God? You must be born again of the Spirit. And when you’re born again, this Spirit I will come and make my home in you. Christ Jesus lives in you and in me. Now, he says he does not love me will not obey my teaching, he’s not going to obey what I came to do, when you ask a question, why do you intend to show yourselves to us and not to the world is because the world doesn’t want to see him. To the world, it’s like putting a person at the Grand Canyon. And having him say, I can’t see it. Well, why a turn around and look at it. The reason you can’t see it, you got your back turned on it. And you can stand in front of one of the most glorious sights in the world and never see it by just turning your back on it. And that’s the world, why don’t they see Jesus? They got their back turned to Christ, just like I did for 36 years, knew about him, went to church took my kids there and picked him up too, try to be a good father. All of those things, but I had my back turned on what Jesus said, I really didn’t want to know what he said, because I could always plead ignorance. My back was turned, your back was turned until the day you came to Christ. Might have been religious, but your back was turned on what he said. Religion is counting on what your denomination said. But not coming to what he said. And he does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own he said. This is just not my deal. It’s the totality of the Godhead. These words they said that I’m speaking to you belong to the Father who sent Me. All of this I have spoken while still with you. I’ve spoken to these things to you while I was here, but the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send to who? To you, in my name will teach you all things and will remind you of everything that I said to you.
Guys, that’s how we have our Bibles. Is the apostles who were the writers of the Bible were instructed by Jesus either through the direct revelation of the Holy Spirit or for those who are with him, who he said to them, that everything I’ve said to you, by the Spirit will cause to bring back to your memory. So everything we have in the gospels, as an example, was from the apostles, memory, not only their memory, but of the Lord about God Himself, causing them to remember everything that Jesus said to them. And then he said, Peace, I leave with your Shalom. I leave with you. My peace I give you. I don’t give you as the world gives you. Let not charge to your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Now guys in this world, there’s all kinds of peace. You can get peace by going out to a mountain stream with your fishing pole and have a day of peace while you’re there at the mountain stream. When you leave the mountain stream, you’re right back into the whole hassle of the world are you not? In get some temporary peace, partaking the drug probably it’s some temporary peace when the drug wears off, why you’re just back to where you came from. So there is a world peace. And then there’s the peace of God that passes, all understanding. Now if you and I are going to have peace in our hearts, first of all, we’re going to have to understand that we have been justified by faith. That’s where faith that’s where peace ultimately comes from. That is peace with God. And you have peace with God, when you understand that Jesus has done it all. Is it not peacefu and restful? That’s the Sabbath rest He’s talking about it. Is it not guys peaceful and restful? To be able to take a deep breath and to realize who I am. That I’m a child of God, didn’t earn it, couldn’t work for it. It was a gift that I am totally forgiven. Guys, do you see what this Christian world has done to annihilate resting? We don’t want to rest. We want to sing the song He is exalted, and I am exhausted. We don’t want to rest we work our people to death. I used to think of the day of rest in my old days. Down at my old church, it was peaceful. Get up at seven in the morning to hit the eight o’clock service. Drive 14 Miles sitting as the Sunday School for an hour and a half sit in church, zoom, go out and have lunch with somebody and talk about church, church, church, church, church, they’re talking about Jesus just church, run home, change clothes, get back for training union. Go over there train again. And then you go the night service. And then you probably have to go out so you can talk about church with some more people. Day of rest, I was exhausted. Folks, the reason that we do what we do here is because of what I used to do, and I was exhausted and burnout, working for Jesus. And I’ve come to learn something you are busy enough without me trying to keep you busy.
And you all have lives to live. And if you have Jesus living in you, where you and people are you and Jesus are, well I’d say that you gotta come to church and come down to the building on the corner of walk and don’t walk in there you’re in church. Jesus said we’re two or more of the gather together my name there I am in the midst of it’d be a little difficult for me to think that that wasn’t church. Because you are the church. You are the body of Christ, living on this earth. The Universal church is born again believers all over the world at the same time who are born again, not churchgoers, born again. And so as you’re working as you’re going out into the marketplace, who’s out there? You and Jesus, you and Jesus. Where are you going to do your evangelism here? We’re all saved. We’re just preaching to the choir. But you see, we do have that mindset that while there might be one who drifts in so let’s let the hired gun shoot him down on Sunday. And what he’s saying to us is, no where you are. That’s where you and Jesus are are. Where your work where you play, where you exercise, wherever it might be, that’s you and Jesus are there, you’re there together, and you’re aware of people. And if you’re in Christ, you’re probably going to be talking to people. And if you’re talking to people, you’re probably going to start hearing for in a very short period of time have to some of the heartaches that they’re going through, some of the trials that they’re going through, very difficult to talk to somebody for very long, that some of the problems and heartaches of life doesn’t start coming out. That’s when you start applying Jesus, and telling them of the hope that is within you. And to be able to express to them that I too, was in a situation like that, where I didn’t know where I was going, or where I was going. I didn’t know who I was, and how that on a day and time of history, that Jesus reached down and touched your heart, and brought you into a personal relationship with Christ Jesus. That’s where evangelism takes place. And so it is not my intent to work you guys to death. The reason that we meet here on Sunday is to help to build you, in your knowledge of Christ not so that you can come back for 19 meetings this week. But so that you can go out in your natural habitat and share what you’ve learned with the people that you’re running into. You’re already busy. But you’re already around people. When you’re gathered here, we’re probably gathered with a huge percentage of people in this room are in Christ. I would hope all of you I don’t know you all are good to me. But are in Christ. So this is a place to grow and be discipled. Where should evangelism take place in ministry take place? Out there, out where you live, and play. That’s where it takes place.
