Classic Christianity – The Greatest Story – Part 1 – 3-16-26

~ “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” Genesis 3:15

~ The overview of the story of Jesus is given in Genesis 3:15. And God fulfilled it, when Jesus was born of a virgin, died on the cross for ALL of our sins, rose from the dead on the third day, and brought His resurrected Life to live in the True believer when a person places Faith in Him, Jesus God in the flesh who did what He said He would do. That person becomes born again of the Spirit of God, and all things become NEW.

Details matter in everything, and words also matter, especially in the word of God. Pay attention to the details. Because we were ALL deceived. And it’s important that we understand the following details that are coming to the light of TRUTH.

It’s important that we understand, that HEBREWS are not Jews. Most do not understand the significance of the fact that Hebrews are not Jews and Jews are NOT Hebrews. The word Jew was substituted in the word of God in the 18th century and replaced the original words of God with the made-up word ‘Jew’ and was added to the scriptures and replaced the original words Yahudah and Ioudaios. Ἰουδαίους (Ioudaious) and is Judaean, which are obviously NOT the word Jew to even the most casual observer. It’s easy to look up the original words themselves to compare. And well meaning people (including all of us) today have been fooled by this identity theft by Satan, of thinking God’s chosen people are a different race of people than who they really are. And as a reminder, once again, remember that the temple was completely destroyed in 70AD, and ALL the original birth records were ALSO destroyed at the time. So there is no way to prove a certain group of people are who they say they are. Don’t gloss over this detail.

Bottom line, a Jew is not Yahudah (Yahudiym-plural) or Ioudaios. Jews are Canaanite-Edomite Idumeans.

But here is the thing, even researching this today, we can find this of speaking of themselves, of modern Jews “Edom is in modern Jewry” (The Jewish Encyclopedia, 1925 edition, Vol. 5, Page 41).

Isn’t it interesting, that they say that of themselves? And a reminder, Canaanites and Edomites are the enemies of the True Hebrews. Do the research, it’s at your fingertips. Who are the ones who praise Jesus? Who are the ones that completely and utterly deny Jesus and even kiss and bow down to a block wall? Think it through. Identity is key. Nothing is as it seems to be.

…..

And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone. Luke 18:18,19

~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12

~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26

Pray to God:

Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ “And in those three years or so that Jesus walked on the face of this earth, as with his men, some 33 years on the earth, and some three with his disciples, here were men who walked with Jesus, talked with Jesus, learned from Jesus, and yet could not do it. We talked about how that after his death and his burial and His resurrection, these apostles who had lived with Christ for all of these years and loved him, seen his miracles, seen everything that he had done, raised the dead, seen all kinds of things that Jesus had performed, yet were in hiding, fearful for their own lives prior to the day of Pentecost. And on the Day of Pentecost was the day when God restored life to man, restoring in us what we had lost in Adam, that being the Spirit of God, living in us. The day when God gave us what it took to live a life pleasing to God. To restore us to true humanity. Because God in the man is indispensable to the humanity of the man. You take God out of the man. It’s like taking gas out of the car. It’s like taking electricity out of the light bulb. It cannot function, period. This is not a dogmatic thing, folks. It isn’t that you’re anti this or anti that, it’s the most practical thing that God ever did for mankind. He said you are lost and you are dead. You were born dead spiritually. And the only way that you’re going to be able to live is to receive life. And the life that I’m talking about is spiritual life. You already have physical life, and that spiritual life can only come from the one who was raised from the dead, and his name is Christ, Jesus. It isn’t being narrow minded. It’s not being any of those things. This is the only source of life available to humanity.” ~ Bob George

A number of years ago, before I came to Christ, there was a movie that came out called the greatest story ever told. You remember that? And that movie had a great impact on my life as I had the opportunity of seeing it, moved emotionally by it, but still did not have a clue as to how I could know Christ personally. It seemed to me that the idea of a knowledge of Christ was a foreign element to me. It was for others, but I did not know how it was going to apply to me, necessarily. But still, it was probably one of those things that God used in my life along the way, along the path, this journey for me personally, that ultimately was collected when I came to Jesus Christ at age 36 years of age.

The greatest story ever told. That’s what we’re going to talk about today, because this is the greatest story that was ever told. It was a story that began in Genesis. It’s a story that began with the creation of Adam and Eve, that in the beginning, God created all things, and all things were created by Him and for Him. And God created Adam and Eve. We then go through their children, of Cain and Abel. We go through Noah and all of his sons. We go through the story of the Tower of Babel, where man wanted to get together and build this huge tower and and all of us speak in the same language, and God said that isn’t going to work. And so he destroyed that work, because he knew what the outcome of that would be. And we go through other genealogies, and we go to Terah, who was the father of a man named Abraham. And it seems like that’s kind of where it all began, as far as the Old Testament is concerned, because in Genesis 14:13, was the first time that Abraham was identified as a Hebrew. Abraham the Hebrew. So in other words, all men prior and women prior to Abraham were Gentile. Adam and Eve, all of his children, all through Noah, the whole works, they were Gentile by nature. And the first HEBREW that was was created by God started with Abraham and Isaac and Coleman, and his culmination was in in Jacob.

God had to call out from among the people that he had created a distinct and unique people. And that’s what he did with the formation of Abraham, he formed the HEBREW nation. And from that point on, beginning in the 14th chapter of Genesis to the end of the Old Testament of Malachi, it is a story of God dealing with Israel and dealing with the HEBREWS, as we’ve talked about last week, the Old Testament is a recordation of man’s trying to live a life worthy of God and falling flat on their face for 4000 years. Why does that Old Testament that thick, and the New Testament that thick? Well, because God was giving us time to show us that we can’t, until he came to show us that he can. And all through the stories of the Old Testament is the story of man’s trying and failing, falling flat on their face in utter failure. And basically that is what the Old Testament is, is man’s failure and God’s faithfulness in the midst of our failure. We had no power to live the Christian life, or to live a life we didn’t even know what a Christian life was in the Old Testament, but to live any kind of a life that was pleasing to God, we just couldn’t pull it off. He gave us the law, we couldn’t obey it. He gave us the covenant. We couldn’t keep it. And so the whole recording of the Old Testament is man’s failure, and still God’s faithfulness and love in the midst of it. And he did that for over 4000 years. That’s a long time, guys to show man that he cannot do it period. You then enter into the gospel periods. And you enter into the gospels in the introduction of this man called Christ, Jesus. And we’re kind of going a little ahead of the birth story, but we’ll do that, and then return to it.

And in those three years or so that Jesus walked on the face of this earth, as with his men, some 33 years on the earth, and some three with his disciples, here were men who walked with Jesus, talked with Jesus, learned from Jesus, and yet could not do it. This is the only source of life available to humanity.

And so all of this took place as a plan of God, whereby he looked down upon His creation, starting in Adam, and all through the Old Testament, and all through the people who had failed and failed and failed sincere many times, as a heart attack, sincerely wanting to be God’s guy or God’s gal, but totally incapable of doing so, until the day of Pentecost. That’s why, to me, the day of Pentecost is the most important holiday that we as Christians should celebrate. It’s the day that celebrates the day that God came to live in man permanently. And the reason that he came to live in man permanently was because he took away permanently the cause of death, which is sin at the cross, where there He who knew no sin became sin for us, so that we could become the righteousness of God in Him. And from that day forth, when we as human beings, come to the end of ourselves, to come to what God tries to show us. And in the Old Testament and in our own experience, we can’t do it. We make promises, and bless people’s hearts. You know, we’ve got things like the Promise Keepers, and I know they mean well, there’s only one problem. You can’t keep it by the time you get out of the auditorium. It sounds good, but we can’t do it. A promise, a commitment, is saying, I’m going to do it. I’m going to live the Christian life if it kills me, and God says it will. You just keep at it It will. How many of you ever tried to live the Christian life? How many of you have succeeded? You can’t do it, you can’t give it and you can’t live it, and that’s all God wants us to see, because if I don’t see my depravity, how am I going to appreciate his sufficiency? If I don’t see that I am dead spiritually, what appreciation am I going to have for his resurrection? It’s just a religion. It’s not a religion. It’s a fact. It’s a fact where god went to a cross, took away the sins of the entire world from the eyes of God, from the eyes of God, so that raised from the dead, he could give life to you and me. Most practical thing that God ever did for humanity.

And so the story began. I, as I said, began with Adam, went to Abraham. And when you look at the genealogy in Matthew, it’s from Abraham forward. In other words, the HEBREW nation forward. God called out of the Gentile world, a unique people called HEBREWS, and a unique country. And out of that country and out of those people, he gave the HEBREWS the law. The Gentiles never were given the law, folks. We just went over and stole it. But he never gave it to us. He gave it to the HEBREW. With all of the ordinances unique people in the way they look, act and everything else, they were unique to the world, the only, at that time, the only voice on the world of the one true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And there, that story began, and it can, it can continued right down until the day that we’re celebrating next Sunday. The plan was announced for redemption of man in the garden in Genesis. And if you’ll look at what he said to Satan, I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers, and he will crush your head, that’s Jesus, and you will strike his heel. That’s a plan. It was a prophecy. These are prophecies, guys in the Old Testament, to the fact that a day is coming in the heart and the mind of God where I’m going to send my Messiah to you, and He will save the people from their sins. That’s a future event that was prophesied all the way through for again, 4000 years, off and on, through different prophets.

The next prophet was a prophecy of his birth given to Isaiah somewhere around 762 in that area BC. Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and you will call him Immanuel, which means God’s with us. Now, that should have been a tough prophecy to grab a hold of, even back then, wouldn’t it? That that a virgin will be with child? Now, how’s that going to be? But I don’t think anybody stopped to figure that out. I think we just kind of accepted that and read it faster, the way we do today, when we don’t understand things, either shout a little louder and read it faster, but I don’t think they understood it. Of course, they didn’t until it was fulfilled. Then had Micah, Micah 5:2, somewhere around the 750 or 760 BC, when he prophesied the birth the place of Christ. But you, Bethlehem, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me, one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old and ancient times. So the prophecy in regard to his place of birth now you can read it.

Talking about the fact of their virgin is going to give birth to the Messiah, and it’s going to be born in Bethlehem. Pretty, pretty explicit, isn’t it? Now it talks about the slaughter of children. If you remember that after Jesus escaped into Egypt, which is the next prophecy that Herod, sent out a decree that all children under age of two be killed, so that, because he heard that Jesus was there to be a king, and no one was going to take over his kingdom, and so he just killed the kids of Bethlehem, and that was prophesied in Jeremiah, 31:15, this is what the Lord says. A voice is heard in Rhema, mourning and great weeping. Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted because her children are no more.

His childhood in Egypt. You remember that Mary and Joseph escaped into Egypt, and we’re told in Hosea 11 one that also was prophesied when Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt, I called my Son. Now folks, when a plan is put into effect and when a plan is in the plan of the planner, there comes a time when that plan is explained, and this is the time, he said, when the time had fully come, when everything that God did to prepare for the coming of the Messiah, showing man, for all of these years, their total inability to live a life that was worthy of God, and yet showing the faithfulness of God. In the midst of it, there was a time planned when I’m going to send the solution to this, and when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman born under the law. In other words, HEBREW to redeem those under the law that we might receive the full rights as sons. The plan unfolded.

Now we pick up this plan, we’re going to pick up in Luke one, in verse 26. All a plan of God put into the heart of God before the foundation of the earth now time to put into effect his plan for mankind. In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee to a virgin named Mary, and she was engaged to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. And an angel came to Mary and said, Greetings you who are richly blessed, the Lord is with you. That should be pretty good news. Mary saw him and was troubled by his greeting, wondering what he meant by Don’t be afraid, Mary, For you have found favor with God. What does he mean, Don’t be afraid? And so he said, Listen, he’s going to give her some real good news. Now, you will become pregnant and give birth to a son whom you are to name Jesus, and He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord will show the Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David, and he will reign over the descendants of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end. Now here again is the angel announcing to Mary the reigning Messiah. You had two viewpoints of the Messiah in the Old Testament prophecies, you had the reigning Messiah and you had the suffering Messiah. You remember John the Baptist asking a question, Is this the one, or is there another? John the Baptist wasn’t some kind of a little wimp going back and forth. He was just saying, Is there two or is there one? The reigning Messiah that they’re talking about was in this prophecy, but there was also the suffering Messiah. Now, the problem is that people was looking at that as one at the same event, but basically it was like two mountain peaks that you look at that may be hundreds of miles away from each other, but when you look at it from a distance, they look like they’re next to one another. And so you had the reigning Messiah, and you have the suffering Messiah. Now, guess who Israel was waiting wanting? Was waiting for? The reigning Messiah. They wanted Israel saved. So he said, The Lord will give him the throne of his ancestor David, and he will reign over the descendants of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end. Has that occurred yet? That has not occurred yet. Will it occur? Absolutely and in the kingdom, in the kingdom life that we will live from the millennial reign, Jesus Christ will reign over all, and every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. That has not occurred yet, but it was prophesied to Mary.

How is this possible? Mary replied, since I’m still a virgin, how am I going to have a child when I have yet to be with man? And the angel responded, the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. And so the holy one born to you will be called the Son of God. And listen, Elizabeth, your relative has conceived a son, even in her old age, and she is already in her six month. She who was said to be unable to bear children, for with God, nothing, it was impossible. Now this is Elizabeth Mary’s relative. She was six months pregnant, and that was, of course, to John the Baptist.

Mary’s reply to that was, I’m the servant of the Lord. May what you have said Truly happen to me. And then the angel left her. Now, guys, think about this for a minute, because I don’t believe in any way, shape or form, that Mary was dull of mind, and I don’t think that she was naive for as young as she was, I don’t think she was naive enough not to know the ramifications of what this angel had revealed to her. And here she was a young maiden, and she was engaged to Joseph, and engagement was the same as a betrothal, as far as the HEBREW law was concerned. When you were engaged, that was it. The ceremony hadn’t taken place, but that was it. And here she was not yet married. A virgin had not yet been with a man, and he says you’re going to have a baby. Now, do you think that she would have been naive enough to have thought, What in the world are people going to think? What are people going to think now, at the church? Think about it. I’m not married, and I’m going to have a baby, folks, from that day forth, Mary was put in a position of being looked at askance. Only to the believers was Mary made a woman of distinction to everyone else, she was nothing more than a loose woman, and according to tradition, who had been impregnated by a Roman soldier, living with the disgrace of that through all of her life, living with that people discrediting her and looking at her askance because of her pregnancy out of wedlock. Now, guys, again, we have a little bit of difficulty with that, because we don’t realize that how severe that was back in those days because of the way it is now. Now, you know, now you have, you got, you have your baby like Tom Cruise, and then nine, six months later you get married, so that you can have your baby at your wedding. And people think nothing of that anymore. That’s just commonplace. Well, it may be commonplace, but it’s not what God planned for us. That’s kind of out of order. He said to to cleave, not before, but after. But we don’t believe that anymore. You see, again, we live in this generation of situational ethics where nobody knows what’s right and wrong, and so we don’t take the Bible as what’s right and wrong. We just make up our own mind to it. But back then, guys, this was severe. It was even severe in my youth. And of course, that’s almost biblical but, but it was. It’s something we have to keep in mind. We don’t pay the attention of it today the way that we they would have back in in those days.

So for Mary to respond the way she did whatever, whatever happens, happens. And it says the angel left her, and then Mary hurriedly left for the hill country. So here the angel came to her and said, Mary, you’re going to be with child. Your cousin Elizabeth is already six months pregnant. Mary picks up and leaves when she’s six months pregnant, and Mary comes back after she had her kid three months later, is three months pregnant. So now that really it now intensifies and gets worse, because she’s been out of town for three months. You understand what’s going on here? So they went to the hill country, and that’s not down in Austin. Left for the hill country to the city of Judah, and she said she came to Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth, and as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby inside of her jumped, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. He said, You are more blessed than all women. She exclaimed. That’s true for God to have chosen anybody. And the fact that he chose Mary to be the one in whom the Messiah would live in her womb for nine months, that’s a blessing, isn’t it, and for her to be the mother. But I’ve said to people as great as that news is, how much greater is the news that when you became a Christian that God came to live in you permanently? He lived in Mary for nine months. He lives in you through eternity. So I think keep it in its proper perspective. And said, Blessed are you. Is that and blessed is the child that you will bear. Oh, Why has God allowed the mother of my Lord to visit me?

When I heard your greeting, the baby inside of me jumped with joy. You are so blessed for believing that what the Lord told you will really happen. And Mary replied, My soul praises the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior, for he has considered how humble his servant is, and yes, all future generations will call me blessed. And that’s true. For the Mighty One has done great things for me. And holy is his name. From generation to generation His mercy is lavished on those who revere Him. And He has performed mighty deeds with his arm, and he has scattered those whose hearts are proud and brought down rulers from their thrones. And he has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things, but sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering the mercy He promised our ancestors to Abraham and his descendants forever. And Mary stayed with her Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.
