Classic Christianity – The Greatest Story – Part 2 – 3-17-26
~ “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
~ Share the story of Truth today. People need to hear the Truth of the word of God. Because it is certainly NOT being taught in brick and mortar churches. Most have not placed faith in the finished work of Christ Jesus. They have a head knowledge about Jesus, but do not have a heart knowledge. They have no clue what salvation even is, because they most likely have been brought up in satan’s lies of religion their whole life. And most of those people have never heard the Truth that God is no longer counting their sins against them today. Because if a person truly places faith in this FACT, then they would NOT be doing religion. They would come out from the lies and into the world of TRUTH. And God would have made them a new creation. One that has the Spirit of God living in them and through them to show them ALL Truth. And if a person doesn’t have a firm foundation on this Truth, they will be swept away by every wind of doctrine. For they have built their house on sinking sand, instead of the Rock Himself, Jesus Christ.
So don’t assume a person is saved because they mention the name Jesus, or they go to a “church” building, or they can repeat hundreds of verses throughout the word of God. Because it is easy to act like one is a Christian, but God sees the heart of a person. Actors are hypocrites, that pretend they are something they are not. And we have a lot of great pretenders today, that think they are saved, because that is what someone told them, instead of being indwelt by the Holy Spirit to show all Truth to them.
And during this season of great deception, it’s becoming more and more obvious that people have been deceived into thinking they are saved when they are not. Satan has done a masterful job of the deception, because the evil forces have infiltrated everything around us, including so-called “Christianity.” And that was done through the seminaries where the lies of Satan are taught. Yes, they are lies that are being taught. It should be obvious by now, that we who are truly in Christ Jesus have seen the pushback against forgiveness being finished. Each denomination teaches their own set of lies. And that is why you will not hear Truth taught in most churches today. Because everyone has been brainwashed with the lies.
So the answer is, first make sure you are in Christ Jesus yourself. Then trust in the Holy Spirit to teach you ALL Truth, not just from the word of God, but in EVERYTHING, including the world around us. For the whole world has believed the lies. And so, share your story of salvation with others. They need to hear TRUTH too.

Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ “Mary’s reply to that was, I’m the servant of the Lord. May what you have said Truly happen to me. And then the angel left her. Now, guys, think about this for a minute, because I don’t believe in any way, shape or form, that Mary was dull of mind, and I don’t think that she was naive for as young as she was, I don’t think she was naive enough not to know the ramifications of what this angel had revealed to her. And here she was a young maiden, and she was engaged to Joseph, and engagement was the same as a betrothal, as far as the HEBREW law was concerned. When you were engaged, that was it. The ceremony hadn’t taken place, but that was it. And here she was not yet married. A virgin had not yet been with a man, and he says you’re going to have a baby. Now, do you think that she would have been naive enough to have thought, What in the world are people going to think? What are people going to think now, at the church? Think about it. I’m not married, and I’m going to have a baby, folks, from that day forth, Mary was put in a position of being looked at askance. Only to the believers was Mary made a woman of distinction to everyone else, she was nothing more than a loose woman, and according to tradition, who had been impregnated by a Roman soldier, living with the disgrace of that through all of her life, living with that people discrediting her and looking at her askance because of her pregnancy out of wedlock. Now, guys, again, we have a little bit of difficulty with that, because we don’t realize that how severe that was back in those days because of the way it is now. Now, you know, now you have, you got, you have your baby like Tom Cruise, and then nine, six months later you get married, so that you can have your baby at your wedding. And people think nothing of that anymore. That’s just commonplace. Well, it may be commonplace, but it’s not what God planned for us. That’s kind of out of order. He said to to cleave, not before, but after. But we don’t believe that anymore. You see, again, we live in this generation of situational ethics where nobody knows what’s right and wrong, and so we don’t take the Bible as what’s right and wrong. We just make up our own mind to it. But back then, guys, this was severe. It was even severe in my youth. And of course, that’s almost biblical but, but it was. It’s something we have to keep in mind. We don’t pay the attention of it today the way that we they would have back in in those days.” ~ Bob George

Talking about the fact of their virgin is going to give birth to the Messiah, and it’s going to be born in Bethlehem. Pretty, pretty explicit, isn’t it? Now it talks about the slaughter of children. If you remember that after Jesus escaped into Egypt, which is the next prophecy that Herod, sent out a decree that all children under age of two be killed, so that, because he heard that Jesus was there to be a king, and no one was going to take over his kingdom, and so he just killed the kids of Bethlehem, and that was prophesied in Jeremiah, 31:15, this is what the Lord says. A voice is heard in Rhema, mourning and great weeping. Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted because her children are no more.
His childhood in Egypt. You remember that Mary and Joseph escaped into Egypt, and we’re told in Hosea 11 one that also was prophesied when Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt, I called my Son. Now folks, when a plan is put into effect and when a plan is in the plan of the planner, there comes a time when that plan is explained, and this is the time, he said, when the time had fully come, when everything that God did to prepare for the coming of the Messiah, showing man, for all of these years, their total inability to live a life that was worthy of God, and yet showing the faithfulness of God. In the midst of it, there was a time planned when I’m going to send the solution to this, and when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman born under the law. In other words, HEBREW to redeem those under the law that we might receive the full rights as sons. The plan unfolded.
Now we pick up this plan, we’re going to pick up in Luke one, in verse 26. All a plan of God put into the heart of God before the foundation of the earth now time to put into effect his plan for mankind. In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee to a virgin named Mary, and she was engaged to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. And an angel came to Mary and said, Greetings you who are richly blessed, the Lord is with you. That should be pretty good news. Mary saw him and was troubled by his greeting, wondering what he meant by Don’t be afraid, Mary, For you have found favor with God. What does he mean, Don’t be afraid? And so he said, Listen, he’s going to give her some real good news. Now, you will become pregnant and give birth to a son whom you are to name Jesus, and He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord will show the Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David, and he will reign over the descendants of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end. Now here again is the angel announcing to Mary the reigning Messiah. You had two viewpoints of the Messiah in the Old Testament prophecies, you had the reigning Messiah and you had the suffering Messiah. You remember John the Baptist asking a question, Is this the one, or is there another? John the Baptist wasn’t some kind of a little wimp going back and forth. He was just saying, Is there two or is there one? The reigning Messiah that they’re talking about was in this prophecy, but there was also the suffering Messiah. Now, the problem is that people was looking at that as one at the same event, but basically it was like two mountain peaks that you look at that may be hundreds of miles away from each other, but when you look at it from a distance, they look like they’re next to one another. And so you had the reigning Messiah, and you have the suffering Messiah. Now, guess who Israel was waiting wanting? Was waiting for? The reigning Messiah. They wanted Israel saved. So he said, The Lord will give him the throne of his ancestor David, and he will reign over the descendants of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end. Has that occurred yet? That has not occurred yet. Will it occur? Absolutely and in the kingdom, in the kingdom life that we will live from the millennial reign, Jesus Christ will reign over all, and every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. That has not occurred yet, but it was prophesied to Mary.
How is this possible? Mary replied, since I’m still a virgin, how am I going to have a child when I have yet to be with man? And the angel responded, the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. And so the holy one born to you will be called the Son of God. And listen, Elizabeth, your relative has conceived a son, even in her old age, and she is already in her six month. She who was said to be unable to bear children, for with God, nothing, it was impossible. Now this is Elizabeth Mary’s relative. She was six months pregnant, and that was, of course, to John the Baptist.
Mary’s reply to that was, I’m the servant of the Lord. Now, do you think that she would have been naive enough to have thought, What in the world are people going to think? What are people going to think now, at the church? Think about it. I’m not married, and I’m going to have a baby, folks, from that day forth, Mary was put in a position of being looked at askance. It’s something we have to keep in mind. We don’t pay the attention of it today the way that we they would have back in in those days.
So for Mary to respond the way she did whatever, whatever happens, happens. And it says the angel left her, and then Mary hurriedly left for the hill country. So here the angel came to her and said, Mary, you’re going to be with child. Your cousin Elizabeth is already six months pregnant. Mary picks up and leaves when she’s six months pregnant, and Mary comes back after she had her kid three months later, is three months pregnant. So now that really it now intensifies and gets worse, because she’s been out of town for three months. You understand what’s going on here? So they went to the hill country, and that’s not down in Austin. Left for the hill country to the city of Judah, and she said she came to Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth, and as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby inside of her jumped, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. He said, You are more blessed than all women. She exclaimed. That’s true for God to have chosen anybody. And the fact that he chose Mary to be the one in whom the Messiah would live in her womb for nine months, that’s a blessing, isn’t it, and for her to be the mother. But I’ve said to people as great as that news is, how much greater is the news that when you became a Christian that God came to live in you permanently? He lived in Mary for nine months. He lives in you through eternity. So I think keep it in its proper perspective. And said, Blessed are you. Is that and blessed is the child that you will bear. Oh, Why has God allowed the mother of my Lord to visit me?
When I heard your greeting, the baby inside of me jumped with joy. You are so blessed for believing that what the Lord told you will really happen. And Mary replied, My soul praises the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior, for he has considered how humble his servant is, and yes, all future generations will call me blessed. And that’s true. For the Mighty One has done great things for me. And holy is his name. From generation to generation His mercy is lavished on those who revere Him. And He has performed mighty deeds with his arm, and he has scattered those whose hearts are proud and brought down rulers from their thrones. And he has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things, but sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering the mercy He promised our ancestors to Abraham and his descendants forever. And Mary stayed with her Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.

Now the birth of Jesus happened like this. His mother, Mary, had been engaged to Joseph, but before they came together, in other words, before they had relation, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Now again, like I say, this announcement from the angel of the Lord that, Mary, you’re going to be impregnated. It was not only had I not been with a man, but I haven’t been with my fiance. What’s he going to think? This is a man I love. This is a man that I want to spend the rest of my life with. What is he going to think when I come back after three months with Elizabeth and tell him I’m impregnated by the Holy Spirit? You can just imagine, Sure you are. And I don’t imagine that Joseph, when you read the account, was overly thrilled with this announcement. But Joseph, it says, was a just man. In other words, he was a man of mercy. He was a man who had God’s heart. Do you know, one of the ways that you can tell a man with God’s heart? He has no desire at all to expose he has no desire at all to be a rumor monger. We call him in Christian settings, prayer chains. Where you can rumorize In the name of Jesus, a heart that is there to expose, to cover instead of expose. Here was Joseph. Was a just man, and he said he didn’t want to publicly shame somebody. Somebody has blown it, and let’s let the whole world know about it. That kind of a heart is an evil heart. That’s a kind of a heart that is the very opposite of the heart of God. It’s evil. There’s nothing in it where God belongs. And so he didn’t want to expose her to public shame. Didn’t want that to happen. And so he considered whether he ought to divorce her quietly. Can see this conflict. Here’s a man that’s saying, here’s this young maiden that I love with all my heart and soul, innocent, sweet, beautiful, and all of the things that go with love. She says she’s pregnant, but she says it came from God. And how am I going to know whether it came from God or not? I’ve never heard of a pregnancy coming from God, and so maybe ought to just divorce her quietly. But as he thought about these things, and I think as he thought about him, those things, was this conflict in the heart of what’s right, but I love her, but I love her. And that conflict is in many experiences that we have in this day and age, isn’t it that, yeah, I know what I ought to do. I know I ought to get rid of her, but I love her. And the issue now becomes, can I forgive her, doesn’t it? And that too is out of the heart of God, because the heart that God is looking for is a heart of forgiveness, as the Lord Jesus forgave you. What? So forgive one another.
So he thought about these things, and an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because the baby in her womb is from the Holy Spirit. So this announcement from this angel confirmed what Mary had told him. Now it was coming not from Mary, but from an outside source as well an angel, you have a tendency to listen to them. And so she says she will give birth to a son, and you’re to call him Jesus, and He will save His people from their sins. Last week, we talked about that of how this announcement came, that that your Mary is going to deliver this baby called Jesus, and this Jesus is going to save His people from their sins. And we talk about how he pulled that off and how, through his life now, Jesus, a part of this overall plan, had his own niche, his own plan, and I’m going to come into this world, and I’m going to take upon myself, ultimately, the sins of the entire world, and become a human sacrifice so that my people that I love can have the righteousness of God in them, and to have Christ living in them, their hope of glory. And so as he came, he’s going to save people from their sins. Now it says, all of this, guys, every bit of this happened to fulfill the Lord’s words. So again, you have in the Old Testament the proclamation of the prophecy, and then you’ll have fulfillment. Some of the proclamation that was made in the Old Testament has not yet been fulfilled. Fulfilled. It will be fulfilled when the kingdom of God shows up in visible form, which is during the 1000 Year Millennial reign. And so this all happened to fulfill the Lord’s spoken words through the prophet, Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, meaning God with us.
Guys, don’t you wonder? I think to myself, as I grew up, there was no time of the year that was more exciting to me than Christmas. Back when I was a child, we didn’t have television. We had those great big old radios. They were big ones, not these little ones, great big old box radios. And that was really the center of the family, and that’s where the family would gather to listen to Amos and Andy and the Gildersleeve and all those well known names today to the young people, but that’s what we did.
And I remember at Christmas that it was listening to Christmas music, and I remember like it was yesterday of the days and days and days of my I would lie in front of that radio and listen to Christmas songs and have the tears streaming down my face as they touched my heart. The words and the music touch my heart. How many times did I hear the song that they will you will call his name Emmanuel, which means God with us. And I did not have a clue that Jesus was God, but I heard it, but I didn’t hear it. You know, when Jesus would say on numerous occasions, if you have ears, listen. You know, well, I got ears, but I’m not hearing. I’m not I’m not hearing, I am not absorbing the truth. And I went through all of my life like that. Up until the age of 36 I went knowing about Jesus, knowing about him, but not having a clue that I could know him not having a clue. Was in church all of my life, I was in church. All of my probably never missed a Sunday that I remember in high school. Now that’s the end of that, but high school. Never heard the gospel. I was in a liberal church. Never heard the gospel. Never heard an explanation of you shall call his name Emanuel, which means God with us, never heard an explanation of that. And I never went to the Bible. I had had Bibles. I could have gone to it, but I didn’t. Had no interest in it. Through college, certainly had no interest in going to church necessarily through college, except Easter and Christmas. That’s like, Well, I always appreciated when I’d go on Easter and the pastor would wish me a Merry Christmas, because that’d be the last time he’d see me. So I was always appreciative of that salutation, but never to know Jesus was never in a church that proclaimed the gospel of Christ Jesus. Amy and I got married, certainly thought our kids needed to be in church, so we took them to church and picked them up too. We tried to do both those things diligently. And I always was diligent. I tell you that I was diligent to always put my dollar in the offering plate. You didn’t catch that my dollar? Yeah, some of you say, how come with that much?
But nothing was ever happening. I had been brought up with the philosophy that success was making money. That’s what success is. Go out and make money, and you’ll live a happy life. Get married, have your picket fence, everything is going to be okay. That was kind of the dream of people coming out of World War Two. As we get rid of this war, there’s a new economy on the horizon, and go out and work and have your home and your picket fence and your kids and everything will be great. And I believed that. But as I proceeded in life and proceeded in the business world and became enjoying certain degrees of success, I found out that that success was very shallow, that what I found was every time that you had a degree of success, you were looking for the next degree. Every time you got this degree, you wanted the next degree. You. Every time you hit this, just go to the next. I can I can remember $12,000 a year being the magic figure back in my days, if I could just make 12,000 bucks a year, man, I’d be in hog heaven. You remember those days? Aren’t any of you old enough to remember those kind of figures? And I remember the day that I hit 12,000 I’m shooting for 24 that day I’m shooting for 24 day I hit 24 I was shooting for 48 and it just went right on up the ladder. Never satisfied. Someone asked Rockefeller one time, how much would it take to make you happy? He said, just a little bit more. And so that’s your life, emptiness inside. Became pretty successful in business. Had my own wholesale distributorship in Los Angeles. And you know the population of Los Angeles, and you know what that can lead to? I had a goal of trying to become a millionaire by the time I was 29 or 30, and I was working on that. And so all of these things were happening. The good things so called. The business was going fine. Amy was taking care of the kids. I was taking care of the business, but I wasn’t paying that much attention to the kids, because I was taught that my job is to put food on the table. And so all of this things start happening. I had my big black Lincoln Continental convertible that was kind of showy. Didn’t mean anything, but it was showy. And you know, you you think you’re just something if you can get one of those. I used to love to put the top down, because the trunk would come up and the top go down. It was really nice. I was real proud of that, real proud of my warehouse. Couldn’t wait for my folks to fly out to California to see me, and first place I took him was to my warehouse. Didn’t take him home. Took him to see him a big warehouse. See how big that is. Then my dad got sick. I love my dad more than anyone on the face of the earth, and he got sick, maybe just dying.
