Classic Christianity – God’s Absolute Love – 7-06-26
~ “There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love.” 1 John 4:18
~ It’s only when we understand the perfect Love of God for us, that we can stop being in fear of everything, including that of fear of punishment from God. Because once we understand that when we are in Christ Jesus, and He is in us, He did not put a spirit of fear in us, but He placed His Spirit of Love in our hearts. And as He renews our minds with Truth, this gets rid of the fear we have in us and it is His love that gives us the ability for His Love to flow through us, because Love lives in us. Everything is related to understanding the perfect Love of God. And remember, it’s not that we love Him, but that He first Loves us!

And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone. Luke 18:18,19
Jesus is God in flesh: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”
~ Bob George discusses the concept of inheriting Christ’s blessings, using the analogy of receiving a Cadillac and later discovering more inheritance. He emphasizes that the Bible reveals our inheritance in Christ, which includes everything needed for life and godliness. Bob argues that fear and disobedience reveal a lack of understanding of God’s unconditional love. He stresses that eternal life is already ours in Christ, and true faith is reacting to God’s love, not trying to earn it. Bob also addresses the importance of truth in overcoming fear and legalism, and the need for mercy and forgiveness in our relationships.
“Now, folks, the same thing is true with fear, I. All of these things are indicators of where you’re walking. Remember this truth: circumstances don’t cause your nature, they reveal your nature. All those things do is reveal what’s in you. And so, if I am.. if God uses things to reveal what’s in me, that’s good. And you see this stuff come out, and you say, Lord, I’m fearful. I’m not fearful over if a lion comes and attacks me, that’s natural fear. But if the lion’s in the cage and I’m out of the cage and I’m fearful, something’s wrong. I don’t understand the value of bars, not not those kind of bars with you. Also, if I get in the cage with the lion, I’ve got something to fear. And so, if we will look at those bars as God’s love, then I don’t have to fear what’s in the cage. Well, what does the fear do for us? It shows us where we’re walking, and it shows us, Lord, I’m not trusting in your unconditional love. Thank you for showing me that. I’m so dumb, I wouldn’t have known it. And if circumstances don’t reveal where we are, we don’t know to see our deficiency and where to go to get the deficiency met, and so if we don’t know it’s a perfect love of God that is the only counteractant to fear, we’ll start worrying about how to correct fear, won’t we? And off we go.
And so we have to understand that the truth of God’s word is I did not give you a spirit of fear, and so one thing I know, when fear comes to me, God did not give it to me. God doesn’t give you a spirit of fear, but of a sound mind. Now, a sound mind tells me that I have nothing to fear with imagination. My sound mind says fear for reality is a God-given fear. Fear for imagination is of the devil. So, when I’m sitting there fearing what I think is going to happen, who’s given me the fear? Well, it’s not God, because it hadn’t happened. And have you ever noticed in your life how about 90 95% of the things that you fear never happened? How many of you noticed that in your life? That’s just the way it is. It never happens. And so we have to get a grip on these truths, folks, that it is the from from start to finish, from the alpha to the omega, the cure for your and my problems is the love of God, the absolute love of God, and that for some reason does something to our soul, we bring that into our spirit. It does something for our attitudes, and our entire attitude toward life is funneled through that truth that if God before me, then who could be against me.
If you and I were going to stand in front of God in our own righteousness, how many of you would fear death? I got a better question, how many of you would be petrified in regard to death? You know, it’s even better, isn’t it? Is that true or not? Or do you think you’d stand there and say, Lord, you’re so lucky to have me, and hope that his memory is damaged. You see, folks, until we come to see our own wretchedness, how in the world are we going to see his provision? Until I see how weak I am, how am I going to enjoy how strong that He is? And yet the world says to get strong, get strong in the Lord. Bind Satan. I don’t know what people are binding him with, but whatever it is needs to be replaced. But we get into all that stuff, don’t we? And boy, do you see it going on today in the world.” ~ Bob George

Bob George 0:28
When we come to grips with the things of Christ, that how it would be like us sitting in a lawyer’s office and he is trying to explain to us the will and the inheritance that had been left to us, and we’re just sitting there with all of this anticipation as to what he’s going to, what, what your father, whoever it might have been, has left to you, and so the first thing that comes out of the attorney’s mouth is, is Kevin, you got the Cadillac, and Kevin says whoopee, and gets up and runs out and finds that Cadillac, and turns it on, and drives off, and, and, man, he drives that car, and for years and years and years, driving that car, just praising God over his, over the Cadillac that was inherited, but, but in the meantime, he finds out he kind of runs into some financial problems, and also finds out the car just kind of gets old after a while, and all this type of thing. So, here he is, sitting in total moaning over the fact that he doesn’t have anything else except this Cadillac, and all of a sudden he runs into the attorney one day, and he says, “Kevin, for goodness’ sakes, get back in the office,” and you say, ‘Why?’ To read you your inheritance. Well, he said, ‘I already got my inheritance. And, oh no, you only got a 1% of your inheritance. There’s much more. And Kevin all sudden gets a smile on his face and says, ‘Well, let’s go find out what it is.’ And he goes in and he tells him, ‘Well, you also got the other car. Well, he thinks, man, the other one’s kind of gotten a little blase. Leaps up out he goes again. Only this time, why the attorney catches him and says, “Will you please sit down and be still, put the seat belt around you, and let me explain what your inheritance is.”
Now, folks, that’s the way a lot of us look at salvation, and look at our Christian life. We come to Jesus by grace, and, man, we just leap right out of the attorney’s office, and we just go joyfully in the fact that I’ve been saved by grace. Did you get anything else? I don’t know, but I got salvation. I got the car, man, and we drive that car, and we drive the car, and we drive the car, and it’s like anything else, when it’s new, it’s exciting, after a while, it’s blase. Is that right or wrong? So that’s what happens to us, and that’s all we think we have, and you will hear people talk along that line. Well, you’re saved by grace, yeah. But and then the billy goat Christian comes in, but and so what we have to understand is that in that attorney’s office is the entirety of your inheritance, and most of us never sit in the attorney’s office long enough to find out what their inheritance is. That’s the purpose of this Bible. This Bible is a book of your and my inheritance. It isn’t something for us to try to get. It’s a book that we read to see what we got. You don’t go to the attorney’s office to try to get something. You go to the attorney’s office to find out what you got, we need to sit in that office long enough to find out our inheritance, all of these things that we have in Christ Jesus, and our inheritance is full. In other words, when you have Him, you have everything that you need for what? Life and for godliness. Now, folks, if you have been already given everything you need, then what do you need? So, what would we be begging God for? And if we are begging God for something, what is that evidence of? That you don’t know what you got. It’s not complicated. It’s the fact that if I am still seeking, I have not found. Now, let me clarify that it says, ‘Blessed is he that seeks after righteousness.’ Now, let me ask you a question: Are you seeking today after righteousness? Now, if you’re seeking, there’s a problem, and that is that you don’t know that you have it, because it says in Him it is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for you your righteousness.
So I don’t seek righteousness, I have received righteousness. I don’t get it. It, I got it now. On the other hand, do we seek to get to know more of what we got? And that’s why we study the scripture. I’m seeking to find out what else did I get. Lord, the last was pretty good, and this whole book is seeking to find out what God has already given you. It’s not a book to try to learn how to conjure up enough faith to get God to give you something. It’s a book to tell you what you already have, and therefore, here’s how you enter into it. It’s a totally different way of looking again at what faith is. Faith is not something to cause God to react. Faith is reacting to what God has already caused.
As we take a look at all these things, as an example, it says in the scripture that that you and I are already seated in the heavenlies with Christ Jesus. Now, does it say that, or doesn’t it say that? Now, do you see each other seated in the heavenlies with Christ Jesus? No, I don’t see that we’re here, but as far as God is concerned, we’re already there. So, again, if we’re already there, do we have to worry about getting there? No, we don’t have to worry about getting where we already are, and that’s why people sit around in regard to eternal life. He didn’t give you temporal life, he gave you eternal life. Now that life is something, if you are in Christ, you already have. In Christ, you have the Son, and in the Son, you have what? Eternal life. And so eternal life isn’t something that I’m going to get someday. Eternal life is something that I already have, already have eternal life. And so that’s why the life that I have now, I just change locations when I die. As a matter of fact, it merely says we go to sleep and wake up into the arms of Christ Jesus. So we’re already there. If I do not have to fear death, why should I have to fear life? I mean, think about this, folks, but you see, if you’re fearing life, what does it show you? If you’re fearing life, there’s something wrong. You’re probably fearing death too, because if I’m fearing life, I’ve got fear death.
Now we get into this whole issue of fear that is the most paralyzing emotion that we have. Now, what does it say in the scripture about that perfect love casts away how much fear? All of it. So, if you’re fearful, what does it show you about your perfect love? There’s an inadequacy there. Now, is that a big deal? No. Thank God for your fear. It shows me that I don’t know a flip about God’s unconditional love. Now, folks, when I first came, and I was a Christian, and I was going through all of this works orientation, and then you got another group of people all involved in emotionalism and all of this type of thing, which will fail you desperately in the time of fearful circumstances. I had to come down to say, Lord, it says in the scripture that if you love me, you obey me, and I said I’m not obeying you, but the problem isn’t my disobedience. My problem is what you say I don’t love you, and I have to say to you, Lord, I guess I just don’t love you. I can remember when I did when I was first saved, because all I knew was you, but I’ve gotten smart now, and I’ve had some, but I’ve had some experiences, and so I really don’t need you much anymore. I’m going to rely upon my experiences, and I’m going to rely on how smart I’ve become. But, Lord, what I’ve discovered from what you said is I must not love you. Now, is that easy to admit to God? It was not easy to admit, but it was truthful, and I was expecting the Lord to be so disappointed, and it was like the Lord says, “Boy, at last you got it, Bob. It’s not that you love me, but that I loved you first, and until you grab a hold of my love for you, you are never going to be able to say you love me.”
Oh, you can say it with your mouth, but in your heart it is not going to be true until you understand my unconditional love for you. Until you understand and come to the same conclusion as the Apostle Paul, that nothing can separate you from the love of God. Death can’t, so you don’t have to fear that trials, tribulation, can’t you, don’t have to fear any of those things, none of those things, you will have them, but they’ll never separate you from my love, and if God’s for me, who can be against me? And you say, I got it, and when I begin to study the grace of God, not the Cadillac, and run on it, but the entirety of the grace of God, not that thing that saved me, but that thing that sustains me, and that’s God’s love. All of a sudden, I found response taking place, and the response was, I love the God that I’ve now found out who loves me.
Now, folks, the same thing is true with fear, I. And boy, do you see it going on today in the world.
Now that ties into the motives, which we cannot gage, because I can’t see into your heart, so I really don’t know what your motive is. I can see your action, and I can judge your action, but I cannot judge your motive. And folks, that’s what judging is. Judging is not judging a person’s action. If you’re acting like a jerk, you’re acting like a jerk. Now, the issue is, I can’t judge why you’re doing that, and folks, that’s what talking to one another is to get underneath the skin to find out what’s cause of this, what’s what’s the problem here. That’s where that word scourging, remember, he talked about digging deep into something, that doesn’t mean a whip of the boat on it, it means to dig deep into something, like Amy says, our problems are like a laundry basket, they’re down in the bottom and we’re dealing with the top, throwing out the top, but the real issue is down the bottom, and that’s the way we are. We talk about in counseling, people come in, 90% of the initial conversation is about surface, and then finally I have to say, let’s get down to what’s really going on, what’s really going on now, and that’s the scourging, it’s digging deep to find out what’s going on. But do we have people in ministries with false motives? Well, it appears so. And the way that ultimately you can say this really gives the appearance of this is because of the action behind it.
Folks, let me ask you, this is it. If you are proclaiming the truth of God’s word, are you going to suffer and be insulted by people? Amy just got a letter that was addressed to me. She’s been reading more Russian since these books have come out than she ever has in her life, but she got a very, really a pitiful letter from a pastor over in Russia, and with talking about the fact that he had gotten a hold of our books and had read these truths and it just absolutely changed his life, so you know everybody goes excited thinking why everybody will be excited about this, and so he goes back to his denomination and to his church and they just absolutely are ready to burn him at the stake. And so he’s writing what to do on this. This is this is truth, and these people are so legalistic and so bogged down in legalism and mean, and what to do, and what to do. Well, the first thing you have to do is to realize you’re not the Lone Ranger, that if you’re going to proclaim truth, you’re going to get just like Paul insulted, and you’re going to experience some suffering, that’s just the way it is. Why? Because error hates truth. That’s why, when Satan is putting error into your mind, you don’t have to tie him up, you just have to start believing truth. He cannot stand truth, and when he hears truth, he flees from it, and so the right to get rid of Satan or demonic influence is to quote truth counteract what’s being told you in your mind with the truth of what God has renewed your mind with, and it says he’ll flee from you, so you don’t have to go through all these gyrations that people go through, nor do you have to walk around being preoccupied with demons, like you got one in your ice box and every place else. I’ve been in the Lord over 30 years, I have never encountered any of that. I’ve encountered demonic influence on my mind, but I’ve learned how to get rid of that demonic influence, and that’s through truth. And these people that are engaged in all this stuff, I think what’s happened, you’ve climbed in the cage with the lion, and you’re getting mauled to death, and the solution to that is not how to survive in the cage, the solution is get out of the cage, but there are people who love to engage in that stuff. It’s spectacular. It can write books, and you can get on television with those type of things.
Now, folks, again, the Gospel of Christ Jesus is why that is the solution to international peace that everyone’s trying to bring in. You can’t have international peace until you have national peace, and you can’t have national peace until you have local peace, and you can’t have local peace until you have peace within your own home, and you cannot have peace within your own home until you have peace within your own heart, and that’s where Jesus is totally pertinent to international peace. Now, you can have the United Nations and all those things working together as long as they have, and just double it, but you’re never going to bring peace until the Prince of Peace brings peace to your heart. And Paul said in Romans five that you never will have peace until you understand that you’re justified by faith, and by faith alone. Now that we know that we have been justified by faith, we have peace with our Lord Jesus Christ. And so, until we get the peace with God, we will never experience the peace of God. You can’t have the peace of God until you have peace with God. So, if you’re not experiencing peace of God, what’s the problem? You don’t have peace with God, and the reason you don’t have peace with God is because you’re still trying to justify yourself. Now, you can say that even after you’re saved, I’m still trying to keep myself justified, I’m still trying to keep myself acceptable in the sight of God. I’m still trying to make God pleased with me. There’s truth about us that God once revealed, and circumstances reveal that truth about us.
I love what my one of my dear friends that’s on our board, George Reiver, he’s George, is probably maybe in his early 80s by now, but he said in one of our board meetings one time, he said, You know, God gave me the absolute perfect wife, they’ve been married 50 years or so, He gave me the absolute perfect wife, and I was thinking, boy, what a nice thing to say, and He said, Everything that God wants me to know about myself. She has revealed. I thought I like that, but you see, that’s what God wants us to do. If I’m going to function in truth, it’s one thing to know truth about God, but what good is that going to do if I haven’t dealt with truth about me? And if I can’t deal when these things come out of me, if I can’t look at that, and instead of rationalizing it, which is most of us do, and you’ll hear that, well, we’re just human, that’s the problem, when you, when those things come out, that shows me something, it shows me something when I am sitting there anxious over something I think is going to happen. It shows me something, Lord, I’m not trusting your love. If you love me perfectly, what do I care if it happens? So it should show us something about ourselves. I’m fearful, and if that’s the case, that’s not a big deal. You don’t have to sit down and beat yourself to death over that. It shows me something, just like my disobedience showed me something about myself. I don’t love God, so you admit that. I’m not trusting your love, Lord. Regardless what happens, I can trust you. So, what do I have to fear?
Now again, guys, remember your emotions. Do not know whether what you’re thinking is happening now, or it’s imagination. Remember that your emotions predictably respond, whatever you’re thinking. So, if I’m thinking that something bad is going to happen to me tomorrow, my emotions don’t know whether it’s happening or I think they’re happening. They are just predictably responding to what I’m thinking, and so we make ourselves an emotional basket case over thinking imaginary things. We make ourselves an emotional basket case by beating ourselves up over what happened yesterday and the day before and the year before and the year before. And Satan comes along and says, Well, you don’t think God’s forgiven at, do you? Now you see, if you don’t understand forgiveness, what you’re going to say, maybe he didn’t, so maybe I better get forgiven. Is that right? And that’s the way we do it. When that comes up to we who know about who you are in Christ, it’s don’t give me that garbage. Jesus took away my sins 2000 years ago, so there’s no sense in my sitting around beating myself up over what happened yesterday. Yesterday is over, and Jesus has taken it away. And now, whether you do or not is up to you and your God. If you want to sit and remember that about me for the rest of your life, you’re totally.. that’s your choice. You can do that. God’s taken it away, evidently. You’re greater than God, so you keep remembering it.
Now, I have to deal with that in regard to my attitudes toward people, don’t I? That I’m keeping records, or you’re wrong now. God didn’t, but I am now. What’s that showing me? My standards are higher than God’s, or else He forgot about what you did to me. So the way we get out of those things is, for goodness’ sakes, if God, if Christ Jesus hung on a cross 2000 years ago, and took that sin away. Who am I to hold on to it? Who do I think that I am, that I am greater than God, and my standards are higher than God? So, God, you can take it away, but I’m not going to.
Anybody in here that’s never sinned? You know what it says about the scripture that he who’s been forgiven a lot loves a lot, and you know it’s only those of us in this world that have experienced a lot of love and forgiveness are the ones who learn how to love, because you can’t love when you’re judging people, you can’t love when you have an attitude. I could never do that. Like someone said to me, I could never kill somebody. Said, well, then you only need 90% Jesus. Got 10 commandments. If you couldn’t do one of them, then only you need 90% Jesus. If you couldn’t also commit adultery, you don’t need 80% Jesus. You could get so wonderful someday, wouldn’t need him at all. Is there anything you and I are incapable of doing? We may think we couldn’t do something, there’s nothing that we’re incapable of doing, and we have to see that, and we have to see that, and face the truth, that’s me. Now, that’s what causes us to love God, is to say in the midst of the one who knows you best is the one who loves you the most. That’s a miracle, guys. The one that sees every thought that you’ve ever had looks on your heart, not on the outside, but on your heart. Every thought that you’ve ever had, can you imagine that? And still loves you, loves you better than anyone in the world. That shows you Lord want mercy! So if that’s the case, why shouldn’t we show mercy toward one another? And when you don’t see mercy in a man’s heart, I don’t see God in man’s heart. When I don’t see love, I don’t see God. When I see a person refusing to forgive, how can I see the God who forgave all?
And so what he’s saying in here is there are men, and all of these guys that he’s talking about are people who are camped in legalism. Legalism says you had better, you had better cross the t’s and dot the i’s, brother, because if you don’t, God’s going to get you. Is that true? No, God got Jesus. God died for your sins and placed those on Jesus. Why are people still running into people who will not get away from the law? Nothing wrong with the law, Paul said. It’s holy and good, but when it flows through me, what’s it do? Kills me. So, what do you want to do? Hang on to a death sentence. That’s why it says that anyone who’s under the law is under a curse. What is the curse of the law? The wages of sin is what? Death. Want to hang on to the law? How can you hang on to the law and say I’m alive in Jesus? So why do people want to hang on to the law? Because they don’t have a clue about the indwelling Jesus living in you, and he’s there to do what? Teach our minds, control our emotions, direct our wills. Christ lives in you as your what? Teacher, your counselor that God gave us. Why do we want to go to man’s counselor when Jesus said, My counselor lives in you, and my counselor will lead you to what? Truth, and that truth will set you free, free from what? Anything that’s bugging you. And there’s where God lives. Man’s looking on the outside. God says, I’m there to test your hearts. He wants you to see what’s in your heart, and when you got yucky stuff there, get it out. Thank God it’s been revealed to you, so that you can turn it over and let God renew your mind.
