Follow The Message – Part 2 – 9-09-25
~ “Now I have applied these things, brothers, to myself and Apollos, on account of you, so that in us you may learn, “not beyond what has been written,” so that not one of you should be puffed up for one over the other.” 1 Corinthians 4:6
~ Don’t get puffed up for one person’s teaching over another. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of thinking this modern day Man teacher has it all together today. Or that they have ALL TRUTH figured out. That’s where we go off the tracks, because we trust in the teaching of Man over that of God. We can be directed to the Scriptures by teachers, but it is God that makes things grow.
Not a one of today’s Man teachers has everything figured out of God. In fact, the more indoctrinated a person is in seminary training, the less likely they are to repent in key areas of Scripture of teaching satan’s lies of ongoing forgiveness for example. Can you imagine a pastor today, going to their congregation, and saying, “folks, I’ve got some news, I was teaching you wrong, but now I’ve come to understand TRUTH in the area of forgiveness by God, and I’m going to teach you TRUTH.” Well, that did happen for one pastor, but most will not come to repentance, because they have too much vested in the Lie. Most pastors today, are puffed up on themselves. They could never be wrong, and certainly they would not tell their people that they were wrong in their teaching. Imagine the harsh kickback from the elders (that believe and also teach the LIES) within the local brick and mortar church. Most pastors would be kicked out for teaching heresy.
That is but one example of the LIES being taught in the church today. There are many many more Lies of satan that most have no clue about. And we pass on the lies too, without even realizing it. That is why we need to have our mind renewed by God Himself, and to not trust in our own understanding, or Man’s teaching, or the doctrines of demons but in everything allow the Holy Spirit to teach you ALL TRUTH. And once the flood gates open, of knowing the lies of the world, your world will forever change in Christ Jesus.
Many of you may be wondering over the years, how is it that the teaching of forgiveness has gone so far off the rails? Bob used to call it teaching of error. But the truth of the matter is Satan used the LIE to deceive the church into thinking there is more forgiveness required by God. And Satan loves promoting religion today. It’s the opioid of the people. It keeps people hooked on the lies, and never able to come to the knowledge of TRUTH. We have all been brainwashed from birth to think a certain way, to think as the world thinks, instead of as God thinks. We were born into a world filled with lies and Liars. And if you are not willing to allow the Holy Spirit to expose those lies and Liars, you will constantly be trusting in the teaching of Man and demons instead of God.
So, consider having a small Bible study with those around you, and start teaching Truth, because you as a true born again believer in Jesus are the TRUE church today. Because quite frankly, you are not likely to hear Truth taught in local churches, by seminary trained pastors, that are heavily indoctrinated in Satan’s LIES, and are dead as a hammer themselves. And make no mistake about it, these are intentional LIES that are being taught to the people. Satan knew exactly what he was doing with the deception he has put in place to deceive ALL the nations of the world.
1 Corinthians 4:1-7
1 So let a man regard us as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries. 2 In this case, moreover, it is required in the stewards, that one shall be found faithful.
3 But to me, it is the smallest matter that I be examined by you or by a human court. In fact, neither do I examine myself. 4 For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I have not been justified by this; but the One judging me is the Lord.
5 Therefore do not judge anything before the time, until the Lord shall have come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the motives of the hearts; and then the praise will come to each from God.
6 Now I have applied these things, brothers, to myself and Apollos, on account of you, so that in us you may learn, “not beyond what has been written,” so that not one of you should be puffed up for one over the other. 7 For who makes you any different? And what do you have that you did not receive? And if also you did receive it, why do you boast as not having received it?

Does TRUTH matter? You bet it does. ALL TRUTH matters.

And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”

Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ “So we need to get off of this that this is what some man said, and to get on, here’s what the scripture says. That’s what’s important. Because if you’re talking that so some pastor is a Church of Christ. He’s telling you to get baptized in water, in his water. So what are you going to say? That’s what he says. You can’t depend upon what we say, unless we’re pointing you to this book, my friends. And that’s why this message is the message of God’s grace, pointing people back to God’s grace, a return to the original, classic Christianity, return to the original, getting people back to truth that sets us free. So Paul is dealing with this issue, and he’s saying that don’t deceive yourself. If anyone thinks you’re wise by the standards of this age, he should become a fool, so that he become wise. The wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. So what is he talking about here, folks? He’s talking about people making an intellectual deal out of Christianity. You’ll find a lot of that.” ~ Bob George

So we need to get off of this that this is what some man said, and to get on, here’s what the scripture says. You’ll find a lot of that.
We get calls from people that almost I can detect in their voice, uh oh. We’re on to one of those, because what they try to do is to catch you. Bob, do you believe this? Well, if you believe this, you know, we had a person the other day call. Interesting, interesting concept, and I kind of blew it, because the question was, well, do you believe in the Old Testament scriptures? Yeah. Well, you know, in the New Testament, it says that Jesus died, buried and was raised from the dead, according to the Scriptures, yeah. Well, do you think he was referring to the Old Testament Scriptures? And I think I said, yeah, yeah. Probably so. Well, you do? You know that there, in any place in the Old Testament where it talks about resurrection? You know that’s true. There isn’t anything in the Now, listen to what I’m saying. There isn’t anything in the Old Testament, talking about resurrection. I want to ask you a question, because this came to me later, after I’d already blown the call. When did the New Covenant go into effect? At the death of Christ. So are the gospels in the Old Testament? Are there any old covenant? Aren’t they? We call it Old Testament. God didn’t call it Old Testament. The gospels are old covenant. Jesus taught under the Old Covenant, and in so doing, buried us under the Old Covenant. Why? You can’t live under it. I’ve told people before, if you think the 10 Commandments is hard, try the sermon on the mount on for size and see how well you do Old Covenant. So when you’re talking about the scriptures, what was Paul talking about the scriptures? Well, obviously Jesus revealed the resurrection. Could you say that the talk, the words of Jesus, were not scripture? But I didn’t catch that right then. I’m going to go back Monday and correct it. But I was still thinking about that old testament. Wasn’t even thinking about the Gospels. Gospels were not in my mind with that. I was thinking about the Old Testament and thinking, gee, that’s strange. Nothing’s mentioned in there, and there isn’t anything mentioned. There’s there’s examples. Jonah, but Jesus had to explain Jonah, because I wouldn’t have read Jonah apart from Jesus and said he’s talking about Jesus. You wouldn’t have known anything about Jesus till he came, would you? So my mind went back and again, stopped thinking about the fact that Jesus’ words are scripture. Whether it’s old or new, is irrelevant. The fact is that his words are scripture.
So at any rate, he’s saying here to us that we need to learn to quit intellectualizing the Bible. Why did that person call in regard to that? Because he had talked to some rabbi. I said, What are you doing talking to a rabbi about Jesus? That Rabbi, ain’t going to save you. There is folks. I want you and me to think about these things for a moment, and I want us to think about the importance of this man called Jesus of Nazareth. Why in the world did God bring Jesus, at a point in time in history to this world, if something prior to Jesus could save you? In the Old Covenant before Jesus, how were people saved? That’s God’s business. I say they were saved on a credit card that God gave them salvation, but it hadn’t been paid for until Jesus came. But folks, did Jesus come? Did God send him and did not this Jesus that came, say there is no other name given among men whereby you must be saved. Did he say it or idn’t he? Then, how important is this man, Jesus? Totally important. What was all of the stuff before Jesus, pointing you to Jesus? The whole Old Testament was a pointer, like an Irish setter, a pointer pointing you to Jesus. We don’t worship the tale of the Irish center. You look at what he is pointing you to, and he’s pointing you to Jesus. And from that point on, you don’t talk about salvation in any other way, except through this man called Jesus of Nazareth. That’s how important he is. His blood was of such value that it went back to Adam and forward to eternity, capable of taking away the sins of the world never to see him again. He could have saved us, maybe in other ways, but without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness, is there? So he had to shed his blood. His life was of such precious value that it was capable of doing that for eternity, for the sins of the entire world. All of us have sinned. We know that all of us have fallen short of the glory of God, and he’s the only one who could take those sins away from the eyes of God. For us, important, you better believe it. This is the center point of humanity. Is this man called Jesus of Nazareth, and that’s why Paul is saying, it sounds good to get your eyes on this preacher or this apostle, but we’re not it. We’re not it. He’s it.
And so in chapter four, we pick up in chapter four. So then men ought to regard us. He’s talking about, how are we to regard the apostles. Now you think folks of what people have done today with the admiration of people that we say are advanced apostles. And here’s he’s saying, Here’s what, here’s the way you ought to think about the apostles. Not a Latter Day The apostles. Now, there are people today who are either out of their mind or egotistical enough to claim that they’re apostles. You have apostolic churches where the pastor claims to be an apostle, he must be an old dude, because in the scriptures, in order to write the scriptures that would be written by an apostle or an amanuensis of an apostle, which meant you had to be with Jesus from his baptism, witnessing his death, burial and resurrection. So if you’re an apostle, you are one old one. They’re gone. There are no more apostles. The apostles were used to communicate the good news of the gospel, not to be revered, but to be ministers of the gospel. The apostles were used to write this New Testament that we have in our hands today. So everything that Jesus taught them has been recorded. There’s no need for another apostle. There isn’t any need for it because there’s no need for any further information. When God said, this book is finished, that’s what he meant. It’s finished, and that means that everything that God wants you to know about himself has been revealed to you and me in the person of Christ Jesus. If there’s any more to be learned. He said, I don’t want you to know it. You’re not even going to be able to comprehend what I’ve revealed to you.
But everything that I want you to know about me and the world is in here. Anything else is just just over and above. So he said Men ought to regard us as servants. That’s Paul talking, that’s Peter talking, that’s Apollos talking. That’s all of the apostles talking, that men ought to regard us as servants. That’s Christ as those entrusted with the secret things of God. What are the secret things of God? The things that hadn’t been revealed to man yet. The new covenant was a secret, the fact that the Gentiles were going to come to Christ the same way as the HEBREW, was called a mystery, a Mysterion that was held in the heart of God until God was ready to reveal it to people they were entrusted with those secrets. It is now required that those who have been given a trust might prove faithful. Paul says, I care very little if I’m judged by you or by any human court. Indeed, I don’t even judge myself. Now, why is he saying this, folks? Because people were judging him, the tail was trying to wag the dog. We learned from these people, but then I became smarter than these people. He’s kind of a nice guy. He kind of gave me the gospel, but he’s not real bright. He hadn’t been to Harvard, not real bright, nice person, but just a little dumb. But he did give me the gospel. I’ll give him credit for that. You know, Paul said I didn’t come to you using brilliant words and lofty ideas. He could have, he was brilliant, but he said, I came to you in fear and trembling. I came to you in total humility, because I wanted your faith to be in the message, not in the messenger. What do we do? We elevate people. We idolize them.
I care very little, he said, If I’m judged by you or by any human court, indeed, I don’t even judge myself. He says, My conscience is clear, but that doesn’t make me innocent. You know folks at your conscience, you know, you say, let your conscience be your guide. Well, that’s the best you’ve got when you’re lost, but when you’re saved, you better not depend on your conscience. You can program your conscience. If you, who were a Catholic and years ago, were taught that it was a sin to eat meat on Friday, and then all of a sudden, why God changed his mind and it was okay to eat meat on Friday, but you had been taught all your life that it was a sin to me to eat on meat on Friday, and you started eating meat, you’re going to feel guilty. You can create false guilt in people.

Bob George 14:15
And so that’s your conscience speaking to you. Forget about leaning on your conscience. You now have someone called the Holy Spirit of God living in you that is greater than your conscience. The Holy Spirit of God will never mislead you. Holy Spirit of God would have said to you, where did the Scripture does it say, don’t eat meat on Friday? He told you that a long time ago. But if you don’t know what the Bible says, then the best you got to listen to is who a man that you’ve idolized, a man that makes himself over and above you. That’s why we have this laity. And then you’ve got the ministry. Right? That’s why, in some denominations, the Bible was never able to be read. We understand. So if you want to know what it says, Don’t read it. As a matter of fact, in some cases, they were put to death. If they caught you read it, you got to come to me. Now does that sound like Paul? No. Where’d it come from? Man, not understanding what the Scripture says, not knowing what the Scripture says, and just falling for the lie, the lie that came directly out of the mouth of Satan.
He said, I don’t judge myself. My conscience is clear, but that doesn’t make me innocent. It’s the Lord who judges me. Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time. Wait till the Lord comes. Folks, there again. How many things in our life. Do we judge before we have the facts? You see, that is not of God. We draw conclusions before we have the facts at hand. That’s why you have court trials is to get out the facts. Now, of course, in this day and age, why you’re getting out as many lies as you can dream of. So hopefully you’re going to have to discern between who’s lying and who isn’t. But the issue is that you’re trying to get to facts before you make a decision, because we have this tendency to immediately judge something. We see somebody on the street, he didn’t dress the way that we think they ought to be, and we judge it. We judge it, and we judge it before we know the truth. Folks, caution yourself against that. Caution yourself against it. Don’t judge something and come to a conclusion about something until you got the facts, then you can judge it, but not before. And there’s where the Bible is telling us that don’t judge anything before the appointed time. And in the final analysis, who’s going to be our final judge? The Lord. He’ll bring to light what is hidden in darkness, and will expose the motives of man’s hearts. And guys there’s the key to this whole thing, motive. What is your motive? You see, if I am a child of the living God, and again, that is my true identity. I’m a child of the living God. So will you say? Bob George, who are you? That’s who I am, that as that is who I am, and that’s who I will be throughout eternity. That’s my eternal identity, a child of God. I’m not a Presbyterian, not a Baptist. I could be a child of God who parks at the baptist church on Sunday, the Presbyterian Church, or any of those kind of things. But that’s not who I am. It’s not who I am. I’m a child of God.
And so he’s saying here, what is your motive? What’s your motive for life? Why do you talk to somebody about Jesus? Well, there’s a lot of motives for that. There’s a motive of being able to go back and tell all your buddies about it. There’s a motive that someone’s watching me, I’ve been through that. There’s a motive that the organization that you’re in requires it. So what’s your motive? Got to do it. In my experience, you had to fill out a report every week or month. I don’t remember which one it was as to who you were going to share Christ with, and who did you share Christ with, and did they come to Christ? I am so rebellious about those kind of things. I mean, I’ve just got to admit to you, I’m a rebel when it comes to those things. I used to fill out my report. Who you going to share Christ with? Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Mickey Mantle. Ronald Reagan, why? I knew no one was going to read the report anyway, and no one ever came back to me and said, Bob, how’d you do with Mickey Mouse? No one ever read them. It was just coming from the organizational structure of someone smarter than anyone else, who made us fill out reports, because that was the business way of doing things. You see, you’ve just, you’ve just taken the Holy Spirit and said adios to the Holy Spirit on that kind of stuff. If I’m going to get up and say, my plan today is to go share Christ with him and lead him to Christ, because he’s a senior, a dirty, lousy one too. You just let the Holy Spirit out of it.
Folks, you can plan function, but you cannot plan results. I don’t know the next minute what I’m going to do. I can have a desire. I can plan to say, well tomorrow, if the Lord is willing, and if I’m here tomorrow, I’m going to do this. Tuesday, if the Lord is willing, we’re supposed to have lunch with one of our radio owners. Wednesday, if the Lord’s willing, we’re going to have a Bible study. Every day next week. Going to do a radio program. But I want to tell you something. I can plan function, but I can’t, I can’t plan results. Well, what’s the result of your meeting with the radio? Well, the this, this, and then, sorry, that’s God’s business. What’s the result of you’re doing a radio Minister, I’m going to lead people to Jesus. No, you’re not. God will lead you to Jesus. Let you lead someone to Lord, if he wants you to lead someone to Lord. That’s all God’s business. So we get so egotistical, we think I can plan everything. No, you can’t. Can’t plan anything. Results are in the hands of God. I can’t plan results. I can plan some function if the Lord’s willing. Amy and I, when we kiss each other good night, say, See you tomorrow, if the Lord’s willing, if the Lord’s willing See you tomorrow. May not be not wake up. And so it’s an attitude and a motive of our hearts. What is your motive?
What is your motive for coming to church? You know, I think sometimes with people, and I see this in and out attitude that well, if I don’t, look if you want to come to church to Sunday, get to bed on Saturday night, because it’s too darn late to be staying up till three or four o’clock in the morning and expect to get to church, I wouldn’t even be here. So if that’s your motive, if that’s your if that is what your priority is, then you’re going to plan for the priority. Just say What’s your motive? Your motive is it because I need to be among other Christians, that being in the fellowship of other believers is a need in my life? Christ says, Don’t forsake the assembling of ourselves together. Why? And he compares it to logs. You put a single log on the fire, it’ll go out. You put two to three on they’ll feed on each other. You say, Well, I didn’t particularly get anything among people. Well, then you didn’t stay to visit with anybody. This place. It’s hard to get you out of here on Sunday morning. And that’s good. That’s good that people hang around and interact with each other and talk with each other. That’s where you learn what’s going on with people. And to come in the early church, it said they met daily for the apostles teaching, for fellowship and prayer. That should be your motive. I want to go hear the apostles teaching. I want to fellowship with other believers. I want to pray with other believers. That’s my motivation. Why? I’m a child of God. Now, if you’re a darn drug addict, why then I want to go associate with drug addicts. I want to find some friends who like to get bombed like an idiot.
Guys, think about this. Can you think of anything dumber you talk about Dumb Dumber than wanting to put substance in your body to make you goofy. Why would you want to do that? You’re goofy enough without it. There isn’t anything dumber than that people, than wanting to mess up my mind. And yet this world is full of that, of the altering of our minds. Guys, that mind that you have is the most precious thing God’s ever given you. It’s your mind. It’s what you think with it controls every single thing you and I do. And why would we even think about wanting to mess it up? I don’t want my mind altered. I want my mind renewed. It does need renewed, but it certainly doesn’t need to be more stupid, stupid enough on its own. But look how man migrates to that, pot party going on. Oh, let’s go. Church is going on. Oh, I got to go to sleep. Folks, get your priorities where they belong. If you’re a child of the living God, you belong in an assembly someplace, even if it your home, studying with other people. But you need fellowship of believers. That’s a need. Don’t ignore it.
So he’s talking about here that I don’t care how I’m judged. Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time. Wait for the Lord, till he comes, he’ll bring to light what’s hidden in darkness, expose the motives of a man’s heart. You need, and I need to continually be checking what’s your what’s my motive? Why do I stay in the ministry? What’s my motive? Only I know, and God knows, but it had better be pure if it’s going to work.
Now brothers, Paul says, Here, I have applied these things to myself and to Apollos. There evidently was a real conflict, or a disturbance between Paul and Apollos, I don’t mean with each other. It just, I think Paul or Apollos was really eloquent and probably brilliant, and I think that he probably did use brilliant words and some lofty ideas along the way. And I think Paul just as smart and brilliant as he was, was just, I didn’t use those words, and I think there was a conflict in presentation, probably. Well, I like this smooth teacher, well, I kind of like this crude one.
