Classic Christianity – Move on to Maturity – 5-27-26
~ What you learn here, is meant to be used out there. Don’t just be hearers of the Word of God, but be doers of the Word. When we say doers of the Word, that is allowing the Holy Spirit to abide in you, and setting the record straight between the Old and the New Covenants with people and living by Faith in the New Covenant today. That is using the Old Covenant Law as the Law was meant to be used, to lead a person to Christ Jesus. The Law of the Spirit of Life set us free from the Law of sin and death. Most in the lost world have no idea of what we are even talking about right here and now. That completely goes over their heads, because most in the religous world of “Christianity” think they are saved, when they have no clue what salvation is. They still live as if they think salvation is “getting” sins forgiven on an ongoing basis. So learn how to listen to the Spirit of God in you, and speak TRUTH when the Spirit would have you speak. That means, even with family and friends or online, when you hear the teaching of satan’s lies, and you have a moment to speak up, Speak up and tell it like it is. These are key moments in the lives of others to hear Truth. Where else are they going to hear Truth? Certainly not in their brick and mortar “churches” they have attended their whole lives.
And when the Spirit is using you, you will NOT want to be quiet about teaching Truth. For the Truth of God set you free Himself, and His TRUTH wants to flow out of you. So share that TRUTH with others so that they too might know the righteousness of God come alive in them, through Faith. For Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the WORD of God. So teach the New Covenant we are under. It is a New Law. It is the Law of the Spirit. It is the Law of Faith and Life, and Not the law of Sin and Death. This is key for us to understand for today. Be bold in your proclaimation of TRUTH, and stop listening to those that are dogs.
And as a reminder, Bob said to always check out things to see if what he said was true, and he could be lieing to us, or he could be misinformed and teaching error and be saying something improperly because he himself may have been taught something improperly and passed it on to others. He changed his mind about ongoing forgiveness by God, and set the record straight. The word is HEBREW here which is key, not J__.. The J word was inserted during the 18th century in to ALL Bible translations to make is seem as though a current identity of people was tied back to the Temple of God. How could it be, when ALL the record were destroyed in 70 AD at the destruction of the temple of who what a true HEBREW by birth and who was NOT? That is one way we have ALL been deceived by satan today. Nothing is as it seems. True identity theft has taken place.
Book to the Hebrews 7:1-28 Follows:
1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, the one having met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and having blessed him, 2 to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth of all, first indeed being translated, “king of righteousness;” and then also, “king of Salem,” which is, “king of peace,” 3 without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but having been made like the Son of God, remains a priest in perpetuity.
4 Now behold how great this one was, to whom even Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth out of the best spoils. 5 And indeed, those out from the sons of Levi receiving the priesthood have a commandment to take a tenth from the people, according to the law—that is, from their brothers, though having come forth out of the loin of Abraham. 6 But the one not tracing his descent out from them has collected a tenth from Abraham and has blessed the one having the promises. 7 And apart from all dispute, the lesser is blessed by the greater.
8 And here indeed, dying men receive the tenths; but there, it is being testified that he lives. 9 Aand so to say a word, even Levi, the one receiving the tenths, has paid the tenth through Abraham. 10 For he was still in the loin of his father when Melchizedek met him.
11 Then indeed, if perfection were by the Levitical priesthood (for upon it the people had received the law) what need was still for another priest to arise, according to the order of Melchizedek and not to be called according to the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, out of necessity a change of law also takes place.
13 For he of whom these things are said belonged to another tribe, from which no one has attended at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord has sprung out of Judah, a tribe in regard to which Moses spoke nothing about priests.
15 And it is yet more abundantly evident if another priest according to the likeness of Melchizedek arises, 16 who has become such not according to a law of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an indestructible life. 17 For it is testified:
“You are a priest to the age,
according to the order of Melchizedek.”
18 For indeed, there is a putting away of the preceding commandment because of its weakness and uselessness 19 (for the law perfected nothing), and the introduction of a better hope, by which we draw near to God.
20 And inasmuch as it was not without an oath (for those indeed apart from an oath are become priests), 21the One, however, was with an oath through the One saying to Him:
“The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind;
‘You are a priest to the age.’”
22 By so much also, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.
23 And indeed those having become priests are many, because of by death being prevented from continuing. 24 But because of His remaining to the age, He has the permanent priesthood, 25 wherefore also He is able to save to the uttermost† those drawing near to God through Him, always living to intercede for them.
26 For such for us indeed was fitting—a high priest holy, innocent, undefiled, having been separated from sinners, and having become higher than the heavens, 27 who has no need every day, as the first high priests, to offer up sacrifices for his own sins, then for those of the people; for He did this once for all, having offered up Himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men having weakness; but the word of the oath, which is after the law, appoints a Son having been perfected to the age.

And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone. Luke 18:18,19
Jesus is God in flesh: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

Pray to God:
Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?
Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”
~ Bob George discusses the superiority of Christ over the Old Covenant and the Levitical priesthood, emphasizing Hebrews 4:14-16. He explains that Jesus, as our high priest, sympathizes with our weaknesses and was tempted in every way but without sin. Bob critiques the practice of tithing in the New Covenant, arguing it’s not biblically mandated and instead advocates for free will giving. He stresses the importance of maturing in faith, moving beyond milk (basic teachings) to solid food (deeper understanding of Christ). Bob also highlights the role of experiences in validating faith and the need for evangelism outside the assembly.
~ “Again, I sometimes think of people who will not let go of the law. We studied that in our conference, the difference between law and grace. The scriptures tell us that we’ve been separated from the law, that we’re no longer under the law, and anyone who is under the under the law cannot be led by the Spirit, and if you’re not led by the Spirit, it may be if the Spirit of God doesn’t live in you. We still hang on to the things of the law when it’s convenient to us. Obviously, we don’t have sacrificial systems, we don’t kill bulls and goats on Sunday. Obviously, we eat all the pork chops we want, and if they got a little shrimp along with it, we’ll take that as well. So we take those kind of things and dismiss those, but boy, when I need a building project, that tithing is very, very strong. And guys, the reason we don’t teach tithing is because tithing is not in the new covenant, and the issue is, are you under the old covenant, or are you under the new covenant? Now, if you’re under the old covenant, then Levi’s your priest, Jesus is not, because Jesus replaced Levi, and if you haven’t replaced him, then you’re still under the Levitical priesthood, and if that’s the case, you ought to be tithing, and as the scripture says, obeying all the law, because if you’re going to obey one, then you’re obligated to be at all, and that’s what he said in regard to circumcision. If you’re going to allow yourself to be circumcised, then you are committed to obeying the entire law. So get under all of it, don’t be a mealy mouse legalist, be a good one.” ~ Bob George

Bob George 0:28
As we’ve explained, the book of Hebrews was surprisingly enough written to the Hebrews, and that is what the goal of the writing was, was to tell truth to people who had been steeped in HEBREWISM, had been steeped in teaching that came from God in the Old Testament, but was misconstrued by people. And so one of the things that had taken place, or some of the things had taken place in HEBREWISM during that period of time was the fact that they believed in different things. They believed that angels were greater than anybody. They believed that Moses was their follower, and that’s where Jesus said to them, “You believe in Moses, you think he’s the way to eternal life, but he’s the one who wrote about me, and yet he refused to come to me for life. It’s a book of showing the superiority of Christ Jesus to all things, the things of Moses, greater than the old covenant, greater than the Levitical priesthood. And that is basically what we’re going to be studying today is Jesus is greater than the priesthood.
And so let’s pick up in verse 14. Therefore, we have a high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God. Let us hold firmly to the faith that we profess, for we don’t have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with us and our weakness, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, and yet was without sin. Now, we talked about this passage last week, that when you’re talking about Jesus being tempted, it’s all as we have, it doesn’t mean that Jesus was sent there sitting there struggling with temptation, but it does mean that He was exposed to all temptation, and I gave the illustration as an example in my life that I have never been around drugs, I’ve never been tempted with drugs, and by the grace of God, I don’t think I ever would be tempted with drugs, I think you could fill this room up with drugs, and it wouldn’t be a temptation at all to me. That’s the only thing I can think of in life. So I’m just using one illustration, because that’s the only one I can think of. But the issue is that that’s what it means when Jesus is talking about being tempted. He was exposed to all of the temptations of the world, but yet without sin, was not tempted, and so we have to keep that in mind as we read these passages.
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. My friends, when we seek the mercy of God, and when we need the mercy of God, don’t we? It says to us very, very clearly that it is only the grace of God that is going to comfort the heart of man. It’s only in the midst of your trials and tribulation, and the midst many times of your rejections from man that you can receive the comfort from God that says, if God is for you, who can be against you? In other words, there’s a certain degree in which the scripture is saying, so what? So, if man rejects you, they rejected me. If man beats you up, man also beat me up. When we stop to think of the God of this universe who allowed himself to be tortured by little old punies, you and me, it’s amazing. And again, that’s what it’s called, amazing grace, because he didn’t have to do that. It was just that he had to do that if he was going to save you and me. And so we realize the fact that the only comfort that we’re ever going to get into our hearts when we’re running through trials and tribulation, facing death, facing death of loved ones, facing any kinds of trials and tribulation, it’s the grace of God that is going to comfort your heart. And that’s why it is so imperative that we grab a hold of the totality of the grace of God, and not just use it as a word. You have many, many people that just use the word grace all over the place, grace here and grace here, and they don’t know what the grace of God is. But again, in the book of Hebrews, he is. He’s going to be having to deal with all of these issues in order to show the superiority of Christ and the superiority of the grace of God over the law.
And so it says, let us approach then the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace in our time of need. Now, every high priest, and you all know that in HEBREWISM there was a high priest that was selected every year from among men and is appointed to represent them in matters related to God to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. Now, again, when we hear this, we haven’t been through that, so this is to the HEBREW. We have no point of reference on this kind of thing at all, but we read it because that was what they were going through, and they had the high priests in the temple. Gentiles have never had those things, but we still read them because there’s a lesson to be learned here, and so he is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness, and that is why he had to offer sacrifices first for his own sins, as well as the sins of the people. So, a high priest that was selected is saying here that he’s able to deal gently with those who he calls them ignorant and going astray, because he himself is ignorant and has gone astray, and so you have something to relate to of your own weaknesses, and realize that when you do recognize your own weakness, that’s when you have sympathy for the weakness of other people, isn’t it? And people that have no mercy, and people that have no sympathy for the weaknesses of other people are people that are so blind, as it says, and ignorant that they do not recognize their own trial, their own weakness, and their own sinfulness.
Now he says no one takes this honor upon himself. In other words, you don’t self-appoint yourself as a high priest, but he must be called by God, just as Aaron was. So Christ also did not take upon himself the glory of becoming a high priest, but God said to him, You are my Son, and today I have become your Father. And he says in another place, you are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek, now I imagine all the people who have been beat up with teaching tithing as a result of Melchizedek are now having a cheering session, because they’re their, their one justification supposedly for tithing is poor old Melchizedek, who did not appear on the scene to teach people to tithe. He appeared on the scene as an example of the oncoming Christ, but we’ve made a tithing testimony out of him.
Again, I sometimes think of people who will not let go of the law. So get under all of it, don’t be a mealy mouse legalist, be a good one.
Tithing is not in the new covenant. No place is it mentioned in the new covenant. What is mentioned in the New Covenant is two entire chapters on free will giving, how to give joyfully, how to give without compulsion. Why know what’s wrong with teaching that to people? Why is that so such an obnoxious thing to teach to somebody? That the Bible teaches that I want you to give joyfully, abundantly, and I want you to give in accordance to what you do have, not what you don’t have, which annihilates tithing. What’s so wrong with that? What’s what’s wrong with letting people be free to give what God puts on your heart? I’ll tell you what’s wrong with it. I can’t get my building project done, and we think the only way that we’re going to do is putting people on guilt trips, because that’s what tithing does – it puts you on guilt. This is an obligation that you have, and if that doesn’t work well, then you’re going to have to teach that tithing that if you tithe, God will bless you. You’re not going to teach that God’s already blessed you, therefore go tithe, but you’re going to teach that God will bless you. And so, if you give me $100 God will give you 1000 and you hear that taught, you give me $100, God will give you 1000. He’ll multiply that, it’s a promise, it’s a seed, you sow that seed, he’ll multiply it, and you get hammered with that. And I love what a lady in West Texas wrote to a pastor one time, said it seemed like you need a lot more money than I do, so why don’t you give me $100 and let him give you 1000.
The issue is that we pull in what’s convenient. The law has done its work. The law was never ever ever given as a means of righteousness. It says the law is not for the righteous, the law is for the unrighteous. The law is not for the saved. The law is for the lost. What is the purpose of the law? Passage of scripture starts. What’s the purpose of the law? And it tells you, in order to lead you to Christ, to show you your sinfulness, and to show you the consequence of sin. That’s what the law does. The law says you violated it, and here’s the consequence: the wages of sin under the law is what? Death, not a paddling, it’s not out of fellowship, it’s death. That’s why it says in the scripture that you have been freed from the law, and now there is no condemnation awaiting you who belong to Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit has now set you free from the law of sin and death, and we are now to walk in the newness of life, not in the oldness of life, and we’re to give in the newness of life, not in the oldness. I believe the only reason old Melchizedek was mentioned in the Old Testament was so that Paul could give that illustration that someone is greater than Moses and someone is greater than Abraham, because to the HEBREW that was unheard of. No one is greater than Father Abraham, and it said, is that so? Then, how come Abraham tithe to Melchizedek? Because you don’t tie to someone lesser than you, only greater than you, and I believe the only reason he was ever even mentioned in the Old Testament was so that that illustration could be given to us in the New Testament, that someone is greater there than Abraham.

And so, folks, when it comes to giving, the same thing happens. Unfortunately, is we do not have the faith to trust people to give as God puts it on your heart to give. Now, when it, when you say to people that you’re not under the obligation of tithing, that does not mean that God says you don’t have to give anything, and the issue is, no, you don’t have to give anything, you don’t, and God isn’t going to zap you if you don’t, but you’re going to miss the blessing of giving to some place that is leading people to Christ and discipling people, in other words, being a part of a movement greater than yourself. You tithe always to something greater than yourself. So, if I’m going to give to a ministry, then I’m going to give to a ministry that, in whole, is doing something greater than than I can do. I can go out and share Christ with people like I used to do as a businessman or go to jails or whatever it might be, that’s fine, and I’m doing that, but there’s organizations that are doing far greater than that, and so what you’re giving to is so that someone can do something greater than you yourself can do and accomplish, if you want to see the gospel spread, and if you want to see people grow and mature in the Lord. Then, if that’s a desire your heart, then you give to that. If you don’t care, then you don’t. And it doesn’t make any difference whether I’m teaching tithing or free will giving, you’re not going to budge anyway. And that’s why, if you really look at who and how many people are literally tithing, even in a place that teaches tithing, you would find out it would be very small, and I said to a pastor one time, let me see your IRS report, because I want to see if you’re doing what you’re preaching. If you’re tithing, I want to see your IRS report, and then you get, well, I don’t tithe on the gross, just on the net, you know, that’s it used to be. Do you tithe on your net or the gross? Well, just depends on how much you want to be blessed. Folks. I don’t know why we make such silly statements as people who are supposed to have the mind of Christ. God wants us to be free to give, to give with a heart of sincerity, not obligation. Just like we give our lives to Christ, not because we have to, but because God has put on our hearts to make us want to. And so we’ve got poor old Melchizedek there.
Now it talks about the fact that what do we have, it says to say about this. He said it’s hard to explain, because you’re slow to learn. In fact, he says to the people there, by this time you ought to be teachers. You need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food, and anyone who lives on milk, still being an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. Now, look, let’s look at this. It’s hard to explain, explain what? Explain what this Jesus came to do, and explain the fact that Jesus came to do more than just die on the cross. Thank God for that. That’s what took away our sins. That means that if you’re in Christ, you are a forgiven person. He was raised from the dead in order to give you life. Now, folks, if that’s the end of it, you’re in a dead sea religion. In other words, if that’s all it is, is Jesus lives in me, and so he’s just kind of stagnant living in there, but he’s there, and I’m going to heaven, but he’s just there. You’ve missed the whole point of why he’s there. If Christ gave his life for you in order to give his life to you, in order to live his life through you, he didn’t give his life for you just to give his life to you, so you can sit and rejoice in the fact Jesus lives in me. He lives in you, so that he can live his life through you. Why? Because you can’t live the life any more than a branch can produce the fruit. You cannot produce the fruit of God. Only God can produce God fruit. Now you can produce a lot of man fruit, and you can produce a lot of energy in the flesh fruit, but you cannot produce what God is looking for. That’s why He says the only thing that counts is what? Faith expressing itself through love. Can you produce love? No, the only thing you can do is to yield to the author of love, and let that kind of love, and I’m talking about agape love. You and I can, you can go and do phileo love. We can do that love, friendship stuff, but the unconditional love of God. There’s no way you and I can pull that off. That has to come from God. The source is God. We bear the fruit, but only He can produce the fruit. Are we together on that?
Now He’s saying to us that you ought to be teachers of this by now. This ought to be a reality in your lives, but you see, there are people that never want to get off of milk, and as we talked about, and I’m not being critical, but I am being observant that in some evangelical churches the reason people never grow beyond milk is because we have reversed the process and said that evangelism should take place in the assembly instead of out in the harvest field. Whereby Paul said to the Corinthians, dealing with tongues, but still it’s all applicable that in the event just so happens that a lost person should come into your assembly, they’re going to think you’re all crazy, which means that lost people aren’t coming into your assembly. Why? Because lost people are out there, and the place where evangelism should take place is out there. You take evangelism, you take place in your office, out where you work, where you play, that’s where evangelism should take place. What do you do with those that you evangelize? Bring them into the assembly for maturity. When you forget that and reverse the process of it, and evangelism is now up to the hired gun. So old Bob’s strapped with two guns to bring him in here, and let me shoot him down on Sunday morning, and that becomes the mentality. Then every week you got to hear a salvation message, and so you sit there for 50 years, saying, “Man, I saved 50 years ago. Isn’t there anything else besides salvation? Why? Because we brought salvation into the assembly, which should be the place for maturing of the saints, instead of evangelizing, maturing them.
Now it does say that when you are teaching the deeper things of God and a non-Christian should come in, they’re going to see that there’s something going on here, and before long they can come to Christ, but that’s not the purpose of this assembly, and it shouldn’t be the purpose of any assembly. Evangelism is not the purpose of the assembly, this is a place to mature the saints and to allow you to grow in your knowledge of Christ Jesus, so that when you leave here, you can’t shut up about Jesus, because you’ve grown in your knowledge of Him, and you’ve grown in the depths of what he came to do and perform for you, so when you go out into the harvest field, you’re out and available for Christ Jesus, who lives in you, to live his life in and through you. You can see how subtle that is with the reverse of that? And so he’s saying to us, as you need someone to teach you elementary truths of God all over again.
Guys, if you don’t, if you do not continue in this word, and how many times I can’t emphasize that enough. I, as a teacher, can teach you what God has revealed to me, but I’ve been telling you for 20 or more years, 22 years on the radio, and prior to that, don’t believe what I’m telling you. I could be lying to you. I could either be lying to you or I could just be misinformed. I could not have any intention of lying to you, but I’m just passing on what I learned in cemetery or seminary, excuse me, so it’s, it’s just one of those, one of those things, maybe it’s not intentional, but if I’m not teaching the truth of the meaning of the word of God, I’m lying to you any way you want to look at it. And so the only way you’re going to know whether someone is teaching you truth or not is for you to get into the word of God, and let the spirit of God reveal the truth to you. So the Bible is saying to us here, you need someone to teach you elementary truths about God all over again. You need milk, not solid food. You’re not growing, you’re still feeding milk, you’re still being fed on milk. A little baby, granddaughter of Richard’s she’s in here eating on Sunday. She’s out eating some more, probably now. What’s she eating? Steak, no milk. Why? She’s a little baby. But that little baby, if she is 16, in here with a bottle in her mouth, we’d think she’s an imbecile. It’s the time you grow up, you need milk, not solid food. Anyone who lives on milk, still being an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness, still looking for your own righteousness, still trying to find your own righteousness in the energy of your own flesh, instead of realizing I don’t have any righteousness, and therefore yielding to the one who gave you his righteousness, and that’s Christ Jesus.
This kind of solid food that you’re talking about is for the mature, it’s for people who are growing, people who are growing up and becoming mature in their understanding of Christ. And again, guys, what is maturity in Christ Jesus? It isn’t necessarily having a head full of knowledge, although you can’t mature without the knowledge of Christ Jesus, but it’s applying it, and that’s what he says, is we did not combine what we’ve heard with faith, and so growing up and becoming mature is where what you have learned is real to you. We’ve talked about that in numerous occasions, is how God will use experiences in your life to show you, hey, my faith is real, it’s genuine. You face death and you find out I’m not afraid of death. You say, hey, this is working, my faith is genuine, because. I’ve been faced with something that I prove to myself that I’m not afraid of death. This is great, Lord, you’re maturing me. Or I’ve run into difficulties in life. Thought of the story that Amy tells of her life, and you look back on that, and here are people living over in Russia, and here’s her dad, who’s an educated, intelligent man, did nothing except just say that what’s going on in the government doesn’t seem to be right, taken away, tortured, beaten, left for dead, family starved out, eat grass to live, sell your wedding ring for a piece of bread, and all of those different things, and then go in from that environment into the German concentration camp and live under Nazi Germany and live in that kind of an environment, and then go finally the war over, come back, move into a place where they too were slaves as the war was going on, right across the street from a church, and there’s Amy and you heard about Jesus, did God work that experience together for their good? Yeah, did they know it at the time? No, sure didn’t. And all of the things that ultimately happened to their family is a picture of God taking an adverse circumstance and working it together for your good. Will he do that with you? Yeah, he does. Is he going to do it in the same way he did with Amy’s family? No. Why does he do that one place and done do it another? I don’t know. That’s his business. It’s not mine. So things may not go on too well right now, but if you will believe what God says, that I’ll cause all things to work together for your good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. You can believe that God is going to keep that promise.

Listen to the Salvation message today!
Stand on the firmness of truth. Don’t keep going back and forth. Thank Him that the forgiveness issue is settled.
Let’s pray together:
- Lord Jesus,
- I thank you for taking away my sins on the cross,
- never ever to see them again.
- Having done that, I now thank you for giving me eternal life,
- through your resurrection.
- I now receive that life.
- And I am going stand in the fact that I am a child of the living God.
- In Jesus Holy name I pray.
- Amen
All believers are now brothers and sisters in Christ.
