God is the Initiator, We are Responders

~ “In response, Jesus said, “This voice was not for My benefit, but yours. Now judgment is upon this world; now the prince of this world will be cast out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw everyone to Myself.” He said this to indicate the kind of death He was going to die.” John 12:31-33

– God is drawing everyone to Jesus. Jesus died on the cross to take away the sins of the world. “That God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:19 He initiated the process of salvation. We respond by faith by saying thank you to God. Thank you is agreeing with God and responding to Him with thanksgiving in our hearts. When we agree with God, we confess (agree with Him) and receive His Life living in us through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Bob George addresses callers’ questions on prayer, emphasizing it should be a response to God’s initiations rather than repetitive. He clarifies the differences between Christianity and Jehovah’s Witnesses, labeling the latter’s doctrine as anti-Christ. Bob advises a new Christian to rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance and to focus on the New Testament. He reassures a caller that suicide, if committed in faith, does not lead to hell as sins are forgiven. George advises another caller to move on from unforgiveness and to trust God’s work in others. He criticizes a pastor for expelling a divorced man from his church, advocating for grace and forgiveness.

“You’re, you’re, you’re a brand new Christian, you say. And there’s a case in which that is such a joy to know that, on the other hand, it’s probably one of the most dangerous times in your Christian experience because of the fact of being a babe in Christ, that you’re subject to people coming and leading you down a primrose path to destruction. I encourage you, please do not allow that to happen. And let me tell you how you’re going to keep it from happening. Listen to including us, listen to as few people as possible. If you do find somebody that your spirit connects with, I have no problem with listening there, but what I want you to do is to get a Bible. I hope you have one that you can understand and you go into the Scripture with this understanding, and I’ll give that to you, and then I’m going to turn you loose. The Bible has said that the Holy Spirit of God lives in you, and the purpose of him living in you is to guide you into all truth, to take the things of the Lord Jesus and make them known to you. Us and to be your counselor and to be your teacher. They’re also told in the scripture that no eye has seen, nor ear has heard, or mind is conceived of those things that God has prepared for those who love him, but it must be revealed by the Spirit. Now that means this Arthur, that apart from the Spirit of God, who lives in you, and that means, if the Spirit of God does not live in you, you can’t understand anything as to what the Bible means. You can. You can quote what it says. You can come up with your own silly doctrines, like as the Jehovah’s Witness have done, that’s doctrines based on human flesh. But to know what God meant, it has to be revealed to you by the Holy Spirit of God who lives in you. And it says he’ll do that. That’s what he’s there to do. No eye has seen, ear has heard, mind is conceived. Of those things that God has prepared for those who love Him. It must be revealed by the Spirit. So you approach the Word of God with this Lord Jesus, I do not know what this means. And if you do not reveal to me what it means, I’m not going to know what it means. I’ll come up with some man’s theory, but I’m not going to know what it means, and therefore I’m going to depend upon you, who lives in me, regardless of how young I am in Christ or anything else, to reveal truth to me as to what this means. And Arthur, he will do that if you let him. But now, God has taught you, through his word, he has taught you, go into the Bible, stay out of the Old Testament for a period of time, until you understand thoroughly the New Testament. Understand that the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, is the story of Jesus’ life here on this earth, and it’s what prepares you for salvation. The New Covenant, a new agreement between God and man, went into effect at the death of Christ Jesus. So the preparation the Gospels are preparatory. It’s what shows me the depth of my depravity, so that I’m ready now for the cross and the burial and the resurrection. And then you go into the gospel of Romans and into the rest of the teachings of basically the Apostle Paul and Peter and the teachings there, and He’ll teach you what it means you let God be your teacher.
