Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P1162 (09-04-26)

Walking In The New Covenant

~ Understanding the New Covenant today is of paramount importance to how we understand Jesus Christ Himself. If we simply view Jesus as a mere man of God, the New Covenant loses its foundational meaning. The truth is found in understanding that Jesus is actually God in the flesh, who came to be our perfect Goel—our Kinsman-Redeemer. To redeem us, He had to become flesh of our flesh, stepping into humanity to fulfill the requirements of redemption. By doing so, He took upon Himself the sins of the whole world. Through faith in Him, we experience a miraculous exchange, allowing us to become the very righteousness of God.

Understand this profound reality: He took away all of your sins at the cross. When you freely accept that finished work, He sends His Holy Spirit to live inside of you for all time. This indwelling presence is a permanent seal. It guarantees that even when your physical body of flesh and blood reaches its finality and stops, you, as a child of God, will never truly die.

Instead of death, you are instantly transported to be with Jesus. You are not destined to live eternally as an ethereal spirit being; rather, you will be clothed in a new, glorified body of flesh and bone. You become a transformed person who has effectively graduated from this mortal life. In that very moment, you are clothed with immortality, and death is permanently swallowed up in victory. It is, without a doubt, a glorious promise to look forward to!

Scriptural Foundation For The New Covenant Reality

1. Jesus Is God In The Flesh

  • John 1:1, 14: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
  • Colossians 2:9: “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”

2. Jesus As Our Kinsman-Redeemer (Flesh Of Our Flesh)

  • Hebrews 2:14-17: “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same… Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God…”

3. Taking Upon Himself The Sins Of The Whole World

  • 1 John 2:2: “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

4. Becoming The Righteousness Of God Through Faith

  • 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

5. The Holy Spirit Sent To Live In You For All Time

  • John 14:16: “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.”
  • Ephesians 1:13: “…in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.”

6. A Child Of God Never Truly Dies (Instantly Present With Jesus)

  • John 11:25-26: “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.”
  • 2 Corinthians 5:8: “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”

7. Clothed In A Glorified Body Of Flesh And Bone (Not A Spirit Being)

  • Luke 24:39: “Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.”
  • Philippians 3:21: “Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”

8. Death Is Swallowed Up In Victory And Clothed With Immortality

  • 1 Corinthians 15:53-54: “For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.”

Bob George addresses a caller from Springfield, Oregon, who is struggling with living outside of marriage. Bob emphasizes that living together is sin and encourages the caller to leave the relationship and seek support from her church. He advises her to focus on her faith and make better choices. Another caller from Richmond, Virginia, shares his gratitude for Bob’s teachings and mentions planning a new church. A third caller from San Francisco discusses her doubts after her husband left her, and Bob advises her to focus on living day by day and not to rely on her husband for spiritual fulfillment. Larry from Texas seeks clarification on a biblical contradiction, which Bob explains as a matter of understanding the consequences of sin.

Bob George 12:02
We’re going to go to Chip in Richmond, Virginia, listening on the internet. Chip, you’re on the air.

Caller 2 12:06
Well, hey, Bob and Bob, how you guys doing tonight?

Bob George 12:09
Doing good, Chip. Thank you.

Caller 2 12:11
Hey, a little quick background on me before I get to my question. I started listening to you back in 1993, and before that, I’ve been in Christ for about about four years, and I just remember being so sincere in my faith, and I was just really living the Christian life in my own flesh and the energy of my own flesh. For example, I just I remember memorizing about 300 Bible passages, and I really thought I was hot stuff. But the problem was I didn’t have any idea or understanding about what the New Covenant was, so I was just utterly confused about what they really meant. For example, I memorized the Sermon on the Mount and really tried to learn how to live righteously. And in the Sermon on the Mount, did what Jesus I think was doing in the Sermon on the Mount. It just killed me. It utterly condemned me. And the more that I would memorize it, the more that I just began to question my own salvation, and really just led me into you know being a double-minded person, and that was pretty soon after that, where I I started listening to the People-to-People broadcast, and really just started understanding a little bit more about the the finality of the cross and what Jesus really did to usher in that New Covenant, and and then I began to experience the reality of the resurrection in my life, and it was kind of funny because all those Bible passages that I memorized then they begin to make sense, and I still kind of wonder how how I got off track, and how it’s just so funny how sometimes we we complicate the gospel so much, and it was just all there in front of me all the time, and and I just can’t thank you enough for the teaching that you guys have been doing for all these years, and it is just setting literally you know 1000s of people across the world free. And and I’m a product of that, so thank you guys so much for that. Just means the world to me.

Bob George 13:54
Well, thank you, Chip, and we appreciate your sharing that with us. You know, that’s one of the things about scripture memorization, people say, is scripture memory good, and I say it just depends. If you memorize scripture in its context, it’s good. But if you don’t, it can be bad because you don’t have any context as to to understand the meaning of something. You certainly have memorized what it says, but to know what it means, you have to have it in its context, and your you know most scripture people that really promote scriptural memory really don’t promote it in its context. Just learn the verse. But once you see the context of those scriptures that you’ve memorized, you know thank God you’ve got them in your heart. And but once you see the context, it all starts falling together for you. So we’re very grateful for you, pal.

Caller 2 14:45
Yeah, another quick encouragement. Just I’m so excited that you guys are on the internet now. I haven’t been able to listen to you probably for about the past five years, but I’m able to get you online now, and I think podcasting is the greatest invention of all time, and so. I’m able to listen to you just kind of whenever I want to now, and it’s just it’s just so good to get that that teaching in me again. And I’m enriching right now, and I’m in the process of of planning a church, and that’s going to be launching probably in March of 2006. And just so you know that, I mean, you might not have a lot of active listeners right now in Richmond, but at the same time, just know that your ministry is touching my life, as you know of right now. But hopefully, we’re going to be touching a lot of other people. So you know, your your ministry is is multiplied, and you just touch so many people that you probably never even get to to hear about. And I believe that you guys are doing God’s work, and I believe that Jesus Christ is saying, “Well done, good and faithful servants, to you now, and also to you when you go to be present with the Lord. So, just thought I’d offer that as an encouragement to you. And again, thank you for all that you do. So,

Bob George 15:53
Well, you’re welcome, Chip. Thank you so much for the encouragement.

John 6:28,29

28 Therefore they said to Him, “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?”

29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.”
