Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P823 (04-06-23)
How do we Pray Today and What About 1st John 1:9 ?
Why don’t more pastors and teachers teach the truth of 1st John 1:9 today? Because it is not popular.
~ Bob George
“There’s a number of teachers that agree with us on 1st John 1:9, but will not teach it because of denominational pressure. You don’t become, you don’t become popular. And this so called world, Christian world, by teaching a Christian bar soap is not a bar soap. And we have grabbed a hold of something there that God never intended us to grab a hold up, but to the people who study the original language with a sincere and open heart, as I had the challenge, ultimately got my Greek understanding of that by going to the the number one teacher of Greek at the Dallas Theological Seminary, and then ultimately going to the teacher in Greece himself. And finding out that yes, the interpretation of 1st John 1:9 is totally in line with what the Greek says, and so, but if you don’t want to study that, and look at it intently, why, then you’re just gonna keep hanging on to your tradition.”
How are we supposed to pray today? Prayer is not a formula.
~ Bob George
“Well, John, again, you know you can pray anywhere you want to. God didn’t give us the in the Lord’s Prayer. He didn’t give us a prayer he gave us how to pray. And and in that was conditional as an example if you don’t forgive your brother here on Earth, who you can see Your Father will not forgive you. Now, is that true after the cross or is that double talk if there were no New Covenant? It’s double talk if there was not a new covenant that was ushered in where their sins and lawless acts are, remember no more. And where these have been forgiven, there’s no longer any sacrifice for sins. That’s a double talk. If you don’t understand the difference between the two covenants and the fact that the New Covenant went into effect on the death of Christ, not the life of Christ. And so there are many things that Jesus said, like be perfect, we’ll try that one on for size is perfect, because your Father in heaven, that’s all it will do. Jesus said it, and he meant it. But how in the world are you going to accomplish it. And so you have to realize that it’s only as Christ accomplishes that for you, as it says in, in, in Hebrews, no, in Romans, that, by that one offering He made forever perfect in the sight of God, all those whom he made holy in Hebrews 1014. He had to make us perfect, we could not make ourselves perfect. And so that was the purpose of Christ Jesus teaching was to show us what in himself was perfect righteousness, but when in so doing, show us, we don’t have any righteousness. If righteousness could be gained through obedience to the law, Christ died for nothing. And John, as I’ve said before, if anything worked, including the teachings of Christ to the apostles while he was here on Earth, why in the world did he have to have Pentecost shouldn’t should have forgotten that there was no need for it? You guys have been with me for three and a half years. So now go out. And second, there was no need for it. But the fact is that even with they even with the those that walked with him and talked with him and met with him, they couldn’t pull it off, because they had no power, until the day that they were in dwelt permanently, by the Spirit of God on the day of Pentecost. And the same is true with us today until we come to Christ for life, the indwelling of the Spirit we can try. But we can’t pull off the life. And so I guess a long way of answering your question, but the the issue is that Jesus said, When he finally explained to us the Christian life, that he didn’t do anything, unless the Father told him to do it didn’t say anything was the father told him to say it. And then said to you and me, go do likewise. And I have to assume that he’d never prayed anything, unless the Father told him to pray it. So that’s where praying according to His will, comes into play to me that, how would I ever want to pray differently than Jesus prayed at the cross where He said, Father, it’s not my will, but yours be done? And I know teachers, surprisingly enough, John, I’m shocked when I hear that because there’s some things are here. They’re good teachers, that I’ll say anybody that prays in accordance with His will, is just kind of a second rate citizen, that you’ve just negated your prayer. If you pray, that I’m praying according to your will, you’ve just negated your prayer. You’ve taken faith out of it. Well, I have to say nonsense to that. That I don’t want. I don’t want anything except the will of God. I don’t want him to answer my prayer. I want to pray according to His will. So however, however you do that, however, you’re praying according to His will, that’s how you pray how you pull that off how he’s telling you to pull it off. That’s the unique way that the Spirit can can work in your life. So I don’t think there’s a magic formula for it.”
“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,” Hebrews 10:26
