Classic Christianity – Lifted by Encouragement – Part 3 – 6-25-25

Lifted by Encouragement Part 3

~ But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, as attested by the Law and the Prophets. And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no distinction, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Romans 3:21-24

A child of God is righteous in the sight of God not based on anything they do, but EVERYTHING Jesus did. And when God looks at us, He sees Christ in us, through the Holy Spirit, and as such, we are to be who we are. Stop walking as the lost do. Stop listening to the flesh, that is stroked by satan and the things of the world today. Put off falsehood. Stop pretending you are goody two-shoes, and tell exactly what is going on in the world today. Quit supporting those who are self-righteous in the sight of God. Stop supporting those who are sharing a different gospel which is no gospel at all. Don’t support what the world thinks. Settle arguments before they get out of hand. Be compassionate to one another. Don’t think of yourself more highly than you ought. Because that does indeed give the devil a foothold in your flesh. And he will stroke that flesh, making it seem as though you are right in your own eyes. Learn to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, and identify the deceptions of the adversary. You might think the Holy Spirit is talking to you, but the TRUTH of the matter will not line up with the word of God when it is coming from the devil. And if you are ignorant of the word of God in one area of Scripture, satan will indeed stroke the flesh in that area to make it seem like you are right in your own eyes. So, if you have an issue with someone, go to them, hear it out, for they might have something meaningful to say.

The things in the book of Ephesians chapter 4 are talking to each of us today. For we ALL have fallen for the schemes of the devil, whether we realize it or not. We have ALL believed the lies of Satan, and have passed those lies on down to our children. Now is the time to set the record straight and wake up to reality. Listen to the Holy Spirit for ALL Truth, and know this, the TRUTH will always match up to the word of God. Ask for wisdom and understanding directly from God and He will give it with great abundance without finding fault. And stop being ignorant about the things of the world, and the TRUTH of the word of God. For they are in enmity with one another. Warning, if you are a friend of the world, then you are not a friend of Jesus, and vice versa.

“You adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore, whoever chooses to be a friend of the world renders himself an enemy of God.” James 4:4

So we are to stop acting like we are a friend of the world and be who we really are, children of God, and focus on Jesus. Stop focusing on our flesh. Turn off that which sows to the flesh, and instead learn how to listen to the Holy Spirit, if He indeed lives in you. And everyone in Christ has the same Spirit. This is what this chapter is all about. Building up the True church of God in service to Him. Make yourself available to God, through the Holy Spirit in you. That is your perfect worship today. These are Life lessons for ALL of us today.

Ephesians 4:17-32

17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sense of shame, they have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity, with a craving for more.

20 But this is not the way you came to know Christ. 21 Surely you heard of Him and were taught in Him—in keeping with the truth that is in Jesus— 22 to put off your former way of life, your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be renewed in the spirit of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one another. 26 “Be angry, yet do not sin.” Do not let the sun set upon your anger, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.

28 He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing good with his own hands, that he may have something to share with the one in need.

29 Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up the one in need and bringing grace to those who listen.

30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, outcry and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and tenderhearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:17-32

…..

And a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, having done what, will I inherit eternal life?”
And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good, except God alone.

~ “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12

~ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one believing in Me, even if he should die, he will live. And everyone living and believing in Me shall never die, to the age. Do you believe this?” John 11:25,26

Pray to God:

Do you really want to know the WHOLE Truth of what is going on today?

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today and give me the wisdom to know the truth and identify the lies of the devil. Thank you God.”

~ “So he wants us to be made new in the attitude of our minds and be put on this new self created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. And you notice there guys, it says to be made, created to be like God in true righteousness, not false righteousness, not self righteousness, true righteousness, not man made holiness. Not you out trying to act holy, because all you do is act obnoxious, but to recognize that you have been made holy by God, and you have been made righteous by God, and you and I are clothed in the righteousness of Christ Jesus. It’s all a part of your identity. Some of you have got some really nice looking clothes on today, but God’s got some better looking clothes for you. It’s called the clothed and the righteousness of God. So when God looks at you, he sees the righteousness of his Son. And that’s what he says he wants us to be clothed with.” ~ Bob George

Bob George 0:27
We really are just ridiculous in thinking that I’m going to make a dog to quit barking. When that’s what dogs do, they bark. Now you can put that under control, but I want to tell you something, you are not going to put that out of control to your husband. God will, but not you, any more than husband, you’re going to put the shopping under control. I’ll guarantee you, the only way you’re going to do that is take the credit card away. God, can. God can control that, but you can’t. And so we’re talking about here of changing an attitude, of allowing God to change an attitude of a mind. Now again, guys, I’m not encouraging all men to be out looking at women or any more than I’m encouraging all you ladies to go to the store. I’m just saying that it is not unnatural. That’s the problem. It is natural. It is natural. That’s the problem. Can it be brought under control? Yeah, under control of the Spirit of God. And when you’re when, when it’s not under control, it just means you’re not allowing God to control your thinking. You still got the thinking of the Gentiles.

So he wants us to be made new in the attitude of our minds and be put on this new self created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. And that’s what he says he wants us to be clothed with.

Therefore each of you, you see, guys, he isn’t sitting here beating you to death. He didn’t there, putting you on guilt trips. He’s saying, therefore you must put off falsehood and do what? Speak truthfully to his neighbor. Why? Because we’re members of one body. He doesn’t just say, Don’t do that. Well, why? Because I told you to, you know, we do that a lot of times as parents, because I told you to, he tells you what not to do. He then tells you what to do, and then he tells you why to do it. Why? In other words, put off falsehood. Well, how come? Well, so that you can speak truthfully to your neighbor. Why? Because we’re all part of one body. One part of one body. You wouldn’t want parts of your body to lie to you. I said my nose was running and and my body said it isn’t running. You’re going to be a mess. You don’t want your body lying to each other. Body says Your nose is running. You pick up a handkerchief, you go blow your nose, serving one another, serving your body in love. So he’s saying, Put off falsehood. Speak truthfully to your neighbor. Why? We’re all members of one body.

In your anger, don’t sin. But why would he have to say that if we didn’t get angry? How many of you ever get angry? How many get angry at your mate if you have one, or if you don’t get angry at you don’t have one? Or did you do either way? It says, In your anger, don’t sin. You say, Well, what in the world does that mean? It says, Don’t let the sun go down while you’re still angry, and don’t give the devil a foothold. Here, it’s telling you what to do. It’s saying in your anger, don’t sin. In other words, straighten it out before you go to sleep. Why? Because if you don’t, Satan’s going to get a foothold, right? A little How many of you, I know it’s embarrassing, but that’s all right, we’re among family. How many of you have gotten mad at your mate and you’re mad and you you’re a Christian, and you know that that Bible says straighten this thing out before you go to bed, before you go to sleep, and you say, No way and just go to sleep. How many have ever done that? Is that all? The rest are you precious people? My goodness, I think I’m going to finish this message out talking to such wonderful, wonderful group. Let me go over that again. How many of you have ever gotten mad at your mate at night, or whenever it is and you know full well the Bible says to straighten this thing out before you go to sleep and you go to bed without straightening it out? I see your hands. Well, that’s better. I don’t mean it’s better, but it just shows that you’re human. But this is true, and it says, Why? Because if you don’t, Satan is going to get a foothold. You know what? You wake up as mad as you went to bed. You’ve settled nothing except you just had a bad night’s sleep. And so all of these things that are told to us, my friends, are told, for our benefit, they’re for us, they’re for our well being, for you and me. So it says, Don’t give the devil a foothold.

He who has been stealing. I won’t ask on that one. Must steal no longer. It’s just saying. Cut it out. Why would you need to go steal if you really believe that God will provide all your needs according to His riches and glory? Can you think of any reason why you’d need to go steal if you believe that? Yeah, you’ll need to. So he says, My God, will supply your needs according to His riches and glory. I think he’s got a lot of riches, don’t you? So what do you need to steal for? So it says, cut it out. And it says, go to work, work and do something useful with your own hands. Why? So that he may have something to share with those in need for. So it says in the scripture, if you have no other motivation for working, it’s so that you will have enough money to share with those in need. So motivation, I’m going to work so that I can share. Most of us say I’m going to work so I can get well, you got to get for you can share, obviously, but the motivation is so that I have enough money to take care of myself and to reach out and to help others who are in need, it’s a blessing to do so. So it’s just all these things are for our own benefit.

Don’t let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths. What’s unwholesome talk? Vile talk. Do you suppose, as it lists down here, that slander would be a part of that vile talk? I think so. It says, Don’t let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs. Do we realize folks that all of us have needs. We have needs for encouragement, don’t we? I find in my life that the older that I get, the more I have a need of encouragement. When I was younger and full of vinegar, I really didn’t need that much encouragement. I was encouraging myself. You get older, you find out that people, really, as a rule, don’t think so much of what you’re saying anymore. It’s basically the youth they kind of look at you as an old geezer whose life is gone. You’re getting older, your body doesn’t function the way that it used to. In many cases, your mind doesn’t function the way it used to or should, and you just find a lot of things lacking the older you get. It’s not you don’t design it that way. It’s just the way it is, isn’t it? Fred. It. You have heart problems sometimes, and you realize that dog gone it. I don’t like these heart problems you get sometimes where your heart doesn’t beat the way it should, and you feel kind of weak and down and it just dog gone it. What’s wrong with this stupid body that your heart isn’t working way ought to. So there’s a lot of things when you get older where it’s easier to get down. And there’s where encouragement comes in, comes in from others.

You know, I have people come up to me and say, Bob, you look as good as you did 20 years ago. And I say, the only thing I can say to that is, I must have looked like the devil 20 years ago. I don’t need that kind of encouragement. That’s just plain lying. But when we do get older, we do need encouragement. We need always need encouragement. You need young people need encouragement. Teenagers need unbelievable amount of encouraging instead of the beating down that many times we do. They need to be encouraged, because, again, they don’t have their minds have not been formed like it is when you’re we’re older, we know that, and so they make mistakes, and that’s what adults are for. Adults are there to correct this, the mistaken thinking many times of younger people to help them through and you’re going to have to have to do that through being an encourager, to encourage people build them up. So it says to build people up according to their needs. Building people up, that’s a big one. Build people up, make them feel good about themselves. So that, how come? So that it may benefit those who listen. What do you mean benefit those who listen? Don’t let unwholesome talk come into your mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up in accordance to their needs, that they may benefit those who listen. Well, it benefits everybody when you’re building somebody up.

There’s a benefit there, and then a passage that people will use, don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, and you’ll hear the people as every time I sin, I grieve God. That’s why I got to keep short accounts of God, because I agree. I thought my if you grieved God every time you sin, you would have the most grieved God that you could ever imagine, and you could imagine all the sin of the world, how grieved this God must be. Basically, he’s talking about getting along with each other. What as a parent, if you have two children, will grieve you the most. If you have two children, what grieves you the most? When they’re doing what? Fighting each other, fighting each other, it grieves you. These are my kids. You belong to each other. You’re brothers and sisters, what are you doing beating on each other? It grieves you. And the same thing is true here that it grieves the Holy Spirit to see his children beating up on each other. And so it says, Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness. Now why does He say to get rid of bitterness? Because we get bitter. Think of your own lives, guys. Do you have any bitterness in your life? Do you have any bitterness toward anybody? Why are you bitter? Well, they didn’t treat me the way that I thought I ought to be treated. A lot of people live into their older age bitter over their parents. Their parents are dead and gone, but Well, I’m bitter. Why? Well, they didn’t treat me the way I wanted to be treated. Well, I know people that were treated beautifully through their lifetime and were just as much as a mess as those who weren’t, because that’s an individual decision, how you’re going to respond. There are many people who have had terrible upbringings who were able to get back and say as bad as it was, they were my parents. They did the best they could, and I’m going to improve that by not doing the same thing to my own kids. Other people live with bitterness and turn around and become the same kind of parent that was treated to them.

Mark, you had a terrible experience in your upbringing. I want you to share it sometimes the group of a father that beat you unmercifully. Isn’t that correct? Am I correct only 30 or times a day? Yeah. And yet you have an option you could live with bitterness toward that. You sit back and say, my dad evidently had a problem. He evidently had a deep problem, and what he did to me was bad, but my God is greater, and I can get rid of that bitterness by not remembering back all the bad things that were done and start recognizing some of the good things and putting the other behind you. Bitterness. Sometimes in your marriage hadn’t been all through your marriage what it should have been. There are a lot of times people are sitting back bitter as can be, over what you were like 30 years ago, even though you may have changed, still bitter. Well, guys on those type of things, what we have to come to an understanding is that number one, I did not deserve to have a perfect life. I did not come into this world saying, God, here I am. I deserve to have perfect parents. I deserve to have a perfect brother and a perfect sister. I deserve to have the perfect dog. I deserve to have money. I deserve to be able to go to college. I deserve to be able to do this. I am here now. God, you take care, because I deserve it. And if that is your mindset, you are going to live as one bitter dude for the rest of your life, because you’re not going to have people who agree with you that you deserve to have a perfect life. The issue is that we have what we have. We play the deck that we’re dealt, whatever that might be and to realize that regardless of what happens to us down here on this earth, that I have a God who is greater than that. I have a God who is greater than the bad decisions that I have made. I have a God who’s greater than the bad things that I’ve done, and that God who is perfect, that God who is perfectly holy, perfectly righteous, saw fit to look down on me and you and say, Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they’re doing. Father, forgive them. And to extend to us mercy and kindness and goodness in spite of us, not because of us. That’s the kind of God we have.

In this world. You’re going to have tribulation. Yes, part of that tribulation is going to be people not treating you right. It’s going to be all kinds of things where you get bitter, you get into a rage, we’re told, anger, brawling, slander along with every form of malice. This word malice, what does it mean? Every form of malice, the dictionary says it’s an evil intent. Every form of evil intent, it’s an active ill will toward another person. It’s not passive, it’s active. It’s a desire to harm another person. They have wronged me, and I’m going to get even. They stole money from me, and I’m going to get them. And it becomes an active ill will toward another person to harm them if I could. I am convinced, guys today, that if people could get away with it, without having to go to jail, they would be murdering you and me as a Christian today, people out there, I’m convinced of that if they could get away with it. So instead of murdering you, they just try to kill you with their tongue. But the issue is that this is from bitterness and rage and anger and brawling and slander and again, every form of malice. And instead of harboring these kind of thoughts inside of you that will ultimately kill you. It gives you an option. It gives you an option be kind and compassionate to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another. How? Just as Christ, God forgave you, just as God forgave you. How did God forgive you? He initiated it. You see how religion is going to affect everything. If you have been taught that the only way that God forgives you is if you go and you crawl up your knees and you beg for God to forgive you. He’ll forgive you. How are you going to treat each other? Identically, the same way, identically. And if you’ve got someone that wronged you, brother, whenever you come and Jim, you really made me mad. You really did me wrong. So whenever you come grumbling and crawling on your knees and begging me to forgive you, I might forgive you. Why? I think that’s the way God does. But how did God forgive you? Did he initiate it, or did he respond to you? He initiated, he said, Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they’re doing. How are we to forgive one another? Same way. Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they’re doing. Father, forgive them. They don’t have to wait for you to come and grovel all over the place and beg. They’re forgiven. It’s not a case of forgiveness. You live in a state of a forgiving person toward one another. So it says to forgive as God forgave you. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ, Jesus forgave you.

Now, folks, I want to ask you a question, Is God ever going to bring up your sins again to you? Has God ever brought up your sins to you? We think he has. Yeah, God put that sin on my heart? No, he didn’t God. That’s behind the back of God, never to see it again. I’ll guarantee you that when God put it there, he said it took it away. So who’s putting it there? Satan. And when you’re bringing up another person’s sins all the time, guess who’s the motivator there? That isn’t God. That isn’t God at all, guys, that’s the enemy of your soul and the enemy of the soul that you’re trying to destroy.

So if you are practicing true forgiveness, that means that subject isn’t going to come up again. That’s exactly what it means, God doesn’t bring it up again, does he? So what are you bringing it up for? All you can do is if you have been wronged, and many of us have been wronged, or you have wronged another in your past, and I keep bringing that up to you about how you wronged me in the past. All you’re doing to that person is causing something that happened yesterday to come up today in your feelings, and it’s just like they did it again to you and to them just like they did to you again. So love doesn’t keep records of wrongs. That’s why it says that doesn’t keep records of wrongs. Do we? If we do, we need to take a look at where we’re walking in the Lord, because we can excuse a lot of things, including ourselves. But the whole issue is, if God says the only thing that counts is faith, expressing itself through love. The issue is, how are we doing in that love department? Do we have a tendency? Do we want to bring things up? Yeah, just natural. Do we want to be angry? Yeah, we do. Feels good. Do we want to be unkind? Oh, yeah, sure. But he says, Let God control that. Do we let him do it all the time? No, certainly not preaching that today for that purpose. And all of us are going to walk out of this room perfect. But guys, this is the game plan. This is the game plan for you from God. This is he said, This is what is possible in your life, if you are abiding in the Vine that will produce that. I’m not interested in your talk. You can talk real easy. What I’m interested in is some action. And I want you to think these things through, and I want you to put them into practice and just see what God can do in your life.
