From scripture Bob explains what the work of ministry really is, to believe in Jesus. So the work of a teacher or pastor is the same work of an evangelist, prophet, or apostle, with the only difference being the audience of primary focus. That is, the primary audience for an evangelist is the lost whereas for the pastor or teacher, is the church. Bob continues to explain what a Christian is, that is, what it means to be saved, to have new life in Jesus Christ. Bob shared about the wickedness of King Herod, God’s choose in creation of mankind with free will, the risk of that, and how in this world we have evil. Yet God chose to reveal himself to man so as to redeem man and restore him to a right relationship to God. So God is sovereign in control. Bob continues in Matthew 2 and closes in Luke 2. Bob emphasized the choice we have as believers to choose to live according to the Spirit or to the flesh. Bob addresses the faith that people should have based on more than enough evidence, and the final evidence that should be enough is the resurrection. When one reads the wickedness of King Herod and the murder of children 2 years old and younger, Bob answers the question many have asked, “Where is God in all this?” Bob answers by explaining the choice God made in making mankind with free will. He explains how God sent Jesus to redeem mankind after he used his free will to choose to be independent and rebellious to God, the same attitude in Satan whom God cast out of heaven. Yet fallen man also has the choice to choose God’s provision in Jesus Christ. Even then free will is not removed. Then we also have revelation by the Holy Spirit through an old man name Simeon and a widow named Anna, both righteous in the sight of God, often in the temple in worship and prayer. Simeon prophesises that salvation is even for the Gentiles. The Gentiles can be saved the same way as the Jew, by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Simeon also says Jesus will cause the rising and falling of many and a sword will pierce your own soul too. Anna prophesises concerning this child to be for the redemption of Israel. Bob shares from Ephesians 4 starting at verse 17. Bob explains the nature of the human flesh, how that is contrary to the Spirit, and as born again believers that struggle is ongoing until the day we die. Because of this struggle, the outward behavior of a believer can look no different than a non-believer. Yet, there is an internal change. Bob states that in order to change one’s actions one must change the way he thinks.

Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
