Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P900 (01-19-24)

According to the Will of God

~ Jesus replied, “The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.” John 6:9 The will of God is first and foremost we believe in Jesus. That’s the main thing that counts with everything. And once a person believes and places faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit enters into a person and brings eternal life to them immediately. From there, we are to abide in the the Holy Spirit. We are to listen to the Holy Spirit teach us all truth. And folks, there is much much truth that needs to be taught to all of us. Don’t ever think you know it all, because that is the flesh talking. The Holy Spirit will also show you the meaning of everything if you study and pay attention to the details. Jesus gave an example of a woman who never stopped pleading for justice to an UNJUST judge. The judge finally relented and essentially was tired of her pleadings, and so he granted her justice against her adversary. The judge didn’t fear God, nor did he care what the people thought of him, he simply did it because he didn’t want the woman to attack him.

So then, in comparison, God, is a JUST judge, and he will see that justice is done quickly, but Jesus also warns us today, “However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” You know, most people think that years are a long time with God. We see all the evil in the world that has been going on for years, and say to ourselves, “when is God going to take care of all of this?” Don’t forget that this time down here in our physical bodies, is but a blink of an eye as far as eternity is concerned. Focus on understanding the word of God in context, and don’t be out there asking God for a new car. All of that junk is going to disappear someday, and it is pointless to ask for something that sows to the flesh anyways. Focus instead on sharing Christ Jesus with others, for that is the will of God, that none should perish, and that people should come to repentance.

“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:8,9

Pay attention to the details.

~ Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”^{Luke 18:1-8}

~ “Again don’t don’t get on one parable, I mean you’re gonna have to put that parable in the light of the rest of the teaching of the Word of God. And again you cannot, there’s no way to combine that one in the Gospel with what it says in the scriptures that anything we asked according to his will he hears this and answers. You can’t bring those two together one is saying ask according to his will, the other saying keep banging on the door given a parable of banging on the door. I got to put all that in context and say which one is the way I’m going to live my life? And it certainly isn’t going to be bugging God for what I what I don’t need I’m gonna be praying according to His will. And quite frankly, if I’m in Christ Jesus I want to be living with a day to day moment by moment trust relationship, that he’s in control of things and I can count on him. So no, I’m not gonna be banging on the door for God to give me something that that maybe it’s not his will for me to have so my prayer to God is God if it’s your will ye that you know what my heart’s desire is just like Jesus he said, If there any way to take this away, do it, but it’s not my will. It’s yours. And I think that’s exactly how we approach God.” ~ Bob George
