Understanding the Word of God in Context is Key to Our Proper Understanding

~ “To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” ^{Romans 2:7}

~ Some people will take a single verse of scripture and twist the meaning of it because it is taken out of context. It is so important to study the word of God in the proper context to understand the true meaning of things. Don’t allow yourself to be swayed by a doctrine of man, taking something out of context and build a false doctrine of law on top of the word of God.

~ Cletus asks, “I have a question on Romans two, seven. I think I caught one of the days you were explaining it to somebody but I cut the end part of it. So I don’t know if you can help to explain that to me about sounds like Paul is contradicting salvation. I know it’s not a contradiction. So I just need a little bit of explanation on that.”

~ “Again, you have to take that, in context there and so where I would start is in chapter two, he’s talking to the people that say that, that you have no excuse you who pass judgment on someone else. For at whatever point you judge another, you’re condemning yourself because you who pass judgment do the same thing. So. So basically, you’re dealing with people who are claiming to be holy and claiming to be wonderful and good and all this and blaming other people and judging people. And Paul saying to them, Why do you do that you do the same thing. We know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth, do what things judge people unjustly so when you Emir man pass judgment on them and yet do the same things? Do you think you’ll escape God’s judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness and his tolerance and his patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you to repentance? And that’s really a true statement there, Cletus is, is it is God’s kindness that leads us to repentance. Godly sorrow is what leads us to repentance. When when his man sorrow being put upon us, it leads us to rebellion. But it says, because of your stubbornness, and your unrepentant heart, now again, you’re talking to basically who he’s talking to our legalistic people who are not accepting the grace of God, and are hanging on to their self righteousness, your stubborn and your unrepentant heart, you’re storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath when his righteous judgment will be revealed. Now again, what is the wrath of God for the rejection of Christ Jesus? It’s it’s death, isn’t it? And he’s just saying to them, you’re stubborn and your unrepentant heart? What do you mean unrepentant heart, you have not repented and come to Jesus, you’re hanging on to your legalism. You’re hanging on to denominational persuasion, and said, is what instead of what is revealed in the Word of God, and you have an unrepentant heart. And so you’re storing up for itself the wrath of God, which is death. Now God will give to each person according to what he has done that What are you talking about, according to what he has done? Well, to a person who has done what God says to do in regard to salvation, and that is to claim by faith, the final the finished work of Christ Jesus, I want his work, then then it said that I’m gonna give to each person according to that, but then to those who by persistence and doing good seek, glory, honor and immortality, he’ll seek it, he’ll give eternal life. Now, what’s his? What’s he talking about? There? That’s what your question is. These are people who are in Christ Jesus. And because they are in Christ, Jesus, the works of Christ Jesus are being done in and through them. And therefore the things that they’re seeking are not self glory, but he is. They’re not seeking honor to themselves, but to Jesus, and his immortality instead of, of seeking eternal life through your own works. And to people who are doing these things because they’re allowing Christ quite frankly, Jesus to do them through them, He will give eternal life. But for those who are self seeking, who reject the truth of Jesus, and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger, there will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil first for the Jew, then for the Gentile, but honor and glory and peace for everyone who does good first, for the Jew, then for the Gentile, for God does not show favoritism. And so he’s just merely saying that if you have true faith, Cletus, and a true Jesus that Jesus works are going to be flowing in through you. In other words, if you’re a branch and you are truly abiding in the vine, the vine will be producing fruit and then through you a branch. You cannot produce it on your own. It only comes from abiding. But when you are abiding, these things that he’s talking about, are going to be evident in your life. You’re going to be seeking the glory of God and honored of God, you’re going to be you’re going to be praising him for his immortality. And to those who are self seeking who are rejecting the truth. He said there’s going to be there’s going to be wrath and anger, and they read and the only wrath that is upon mankind for disobedience is disobedience to the gospel. To obey the gospel, Cletus, is to agree with God, that He came to this earth, to take away the sins of the world, and was raised from the dead in order to give life to us who were born dead. And when we refuse that truth and say, No, I’m going to seek My own righteousness. I’m going to show God how good I am. He says you’re still dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your sinful nature.”
