Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 67 (09-03-19)
Bob shares from the 14th chapter of John. Jesus is soon going to the cross and is sharing final words of instruction and encouragement to his disciples. He is explaining the plan God has laid out for him to accomplish. He is telling his disciples that they should be glad he is going away. For if he does not go away, then the Spirit will not come to them.
Jesus first had to go to the cross. At the cross is where he shed his blood to take away the cause of death, which is sin. Sin is the cause of death, and until that is settled, the next time man sins, he would die again. But once that is done, then he will ascend back to his Father and leave the Holy Spirit to be with man, to those who will receive him and believe in his name. Salvation is receiving new life. New life happens when the Holy Spirit comes to live inside man. That first happened at the day of Pentecost, to those who believed the words of Jesus.

Bob addressed several questions often asked by people even today. Is tithing for today? What about Melchizedek? Does the example of Abraham “tithing” to Melchizedek mean that we should tithe today? If I committed adultery that resulted in divorce, is it okay for me to marry again? Should we celebrate certain Jewish holidays, such as the feast of first fruits, or Pentecost? What should we do about certain things that are not clear in scripture, such as certain topics that do not really have sufficient information and tend toward speculation? Should women serve in the military? Can a woman be a pastor? What is the role of men and women in the home? Are their roles different? What does it mean for a woman to submit to her husband?
Erwin from Vancouver, British Columbia
Erwin called about the importance of Pentecost and asked when we should be celebrating it.
Pentecost occurred fifty days after the resurrection of Christ Jesus. Pente means fifty. So fifty days following the the resurrection of Christ Jesus. This would fall in April. For the birth of Christ, there is some speculation. But the resurrection lines up … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P415 (2-15-19)
Bob answers some basic foundational questions callers asked on salvation as it relates to baptism, salvation, forgiveness of sin, and righteousness. Bob shares several passages of scriptures for each caller, showing from God’s word the truth they needed to ponder, so they can walk in that truth. Bob explained the meaning of scriptures to them so they could grasp the concepts that the Spirit spoke through him that he discerned they lacked in clarity of understanding. The callers asked sincere questions with a heart attitude of wanting to know truth. You can sense in how they asked that they really wanted to know truth and in their current walk in life these truths were being formed in them.
Bob clears up a little confusion Cletis had on what baptism is based on false teaching he was hearing from various things he has heard from new church he was attending. Leadership there were telling him that he should be baptized again. There is water baptism and there is spiritual baptism. There is water baptism, a symbol or picture of what Christ accomplished for us, but does not save you. It is only … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity – Book of John P25 (12-05-18)
Bob George continues teaching from the book of John. He is currently in John 7 where the religious leaders are trying to turn the crowd against Jesus and many of the Jews are not understanding and are divided concerning Jesus. Some say Jesus is the prophet. Others say Jesus is the Messiah. Some Jews who knew some facts from scripture lacked full understanding and so doubted Jesus being the Messiah. Jesus clearly explained who he was, that he came from Heaven. Jesus had a message to shared concerning his death, burial and resurrection. But more than than that. He also told them that he will return to His Father so that he can send the Holy Spirit to dwell in men. Bob explains more thoroughly with other supporting scriptures to explain the significance of the Holy Spirit taking residence in the lives of men. The religious leaders, as well as others, could only think in the natural realm. The religious leaders wondered what he meant by saying he is going away. Is he going away to a far away country? Jesus is going to die, be raised again, and return to His … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
