A Closer Look at The Truth About Prayer

~ “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” ^{Ephesians 3:14-21}

“Well, I think everything you’ve said I couldn’t agree with more. Gail, I think that God’s already showing you those things. The idea that the reason that my daughter or something got in an accident is because I wasn’t bathing or in prayer is ludicrous. I mean that the apostle Paul could say, Well, the reason that that I got into shipwreck was because most people weren’t praying for him. And the reason Jesus got nailed on a cross is because people weren’t bathing him in prayer. And the reason that Peter got hung upside down is somebody forgot to mention that mode of death. I mean, it just doesn’t make any sense. So that type of teaching on prayer is a totally erroneous as far as I as far as I’m concerned in regard to the teaching of the Word of God. I believe when we see ourselves As responders rather than initiators, and again, I have to say that everything that Christ did when he was here on Earth, and this was God on earth, he could have done anything he wanted to do. But as a man in his humanity, you will remember he said, I do nothing unless the Father tells me to do it. And I say nothing unless the Father tells me to say it. And I would have to assume in as much as his prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane where He said, Father this is not for our benefit, but for theirs, that he prayed what the Father told him to pray. And so the Lord’s will was in total harmony, the Son of God was in total harmony with his Father. I believe that is what it means to be indwelt by God. I think that’s what it means to ultimately come to a point where it’s the will of the Father is so ingrained in us by nature, that it’s very natural for us to do what we do. So Gail is, you know, as we were talking, as far as that type of thing is concerned, that would be, you’d have to ask yourself, What in the world kind of God would we have, who would say, I really don’t care anything about your daughter, I’m gonna let her get killed if she wants to, unless you bathe her in prayer. And I’ll save her that is such a perversion of who our God.”
