Abide in the Vine, Jesus God

~ “I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

~ Do we really believe this, or do we go out in the energy of the flesh and try to do things for Jesus, as though we can actually do something for Jesus? People give lip service to the Word of God. They really don’t believe that they can do NOTHING, apart from Jesus. Surely the satan (satan means adversary and opposer) whispers in our ears, “surely you can do something for God. After all, God certainly doesn’t expect you to not do anything…” And that is where satan sows to our flesh, and opposes TRUTH. For the flesh wants to make itself look good. It wants to puff itself up and say, “look what I am doing for God.” The flesh loves the accolades and the attention. And the more a person has been taught in the wisdom of the world, the more they are trusting in their flesh to do something for God. You can see the pride that oozes out of a person that has gone to seminary for example. They think they know more than you because they were taught by what they think are brilliant minds, and they got a degree to show it off too. And they discount us, who have studied the word of God for ourselves. And most people think that the seminary taught pastors have something they themselves do not have, more knowledge. What they do have are a boat load of more LIES taught by Satan and his transformed ministers, that they pass on to those that have no clue, even the church historians are lies taught too, and are great deceivers that lead a person away from TRUTH. These seminary taught pastors are the blind leading the blind today. And it is getting easier and easier to identify them all. Start with the PROPER foundation, and see where they stand on Jesus, God, and COMPLETED forgiveness on the cross for ALL sins, for ALL people, for ALL time. And don’t just look there, but listen to what they actually say and do. For you will recognize them by their fruits.

And so we are told in scripture, that the flesh counts for NOTHING and will reap destruction for those living by it. “The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” Ephesians 1:14 And so, focus on Jesus, and stop pretending (being a hypocrite) that you are pleasing God in the flesh. “It is the Spirit giving life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life.” John 6:63 So trust in the Holy Spirit to show you ALL TRUTH. “However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and He will declare to you what is to come.” John 16:13 Trust in Him to explain what has already occurred, what is NOW occurring at this very moment in time, and what He wants you to understand for the future. And live by Faith from first to last. That means abiding in Him moment by moment of everyday to understand and be taught by HIM, and to allow HIM to do His work in and through you.

Bob George addresses callers’ questions on spiritual growth and theological issues. He clarifies that the Holy Spirit indwells believers at New birth and emphasizes the importance of being controlled by the Spirit’s love, not just filled with it. He refutes the idea of needing to “infill” the Spirit and explains that true spiritual growth comes from understanding God’s love. Bob also discusses the deity of Christ. And refuting Gnostic claims. He advises a caller on dealing with guilt over an abortion, emphasizing that sins are forgiven through Christ. Finally, he counsels on approaching loved ones in the gay lifestyle, stressing the need for a personal relationship with Christ.

“Well, Justin, I, you know, again, as a brand new Christian, you cannot work at developing love, joy, peace, patience and goodness. Those are attributes of God that only come from him. Again, if you will, keep in mind that you are a branch. Jesus gave that illustration of the vine and branch. They are a branch, and He is the vine. Now, how much can a branch do apart from the vine? Nothing. Can a branch produce fruit? No way can a branch abide in the vine and bear the fruit of the vine, absolutely, but it cannot produce it. There’s only one way that you can, that you can do that as a branch, and that is by walking totally in dependency upon Christ to produce in you what you have no ability to produce in and of yourself when you abide in Him and He. Abides in you, and he produces in you, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness. You have the privilege of bearing that fruit, but again, you cannot produce it. And so when you’re dealing with things, and I don’t mean to speak disparagingly about something, but when you’re dealing with something or with teaching that is teaching, you can go out and produce that, or you can, you can work at it. That’s false teaching. I don’t care who’s doing it. A Purpose Driven Life is there’s only one purpose in life, as far as God is concerned, for you and me, and that’s to abide in him, so you don’t need chapters on that subject at all. He said that my purpose for you is to abide in me and allow me to do in you what you cannot do in and of yourself. We talked about that in the first segment. Is to walk by faith. The only thing that you can do is to walk by faith and without faith. It’s impossible to please God and to walk one day at a time, and to grow, and I’ll grow you. You can’t grow yourself. You remember Justin, when you were a kid and growing, and how you’d kind of stand at the wall and have your mom to measure, you to see and you’d stretch and try to grow taller and taller and and you just, you just can’t do it. You just have to wait on God to grow you. And that’s the same thing spiritually. But I think the key to it again, Justin is to for you to recognize, I think if you recognize these two things, first of all, the Gospels is not New Covenant, New Covenant Theology, New Covenant which is where your sins now have been taken away from the eyes of God, never to see them again that took place at the death of Christ, not the life of Christ. So the Gospels are recordation of the life of Christ before he was able to usher in the New Covenant, because a covenant is a will, and as it says in Hebrews, a will doesn’t go into effect until the one who made it die, just like if you have a will, it won’t go into effect until you die, not a day sooner. And it’s the same thing. So Jesus had to fulfill the Old Covenant, the Old Testament, with his wife, and then enter into our death with us, so that he could usher in a New Covenant of grace. And that covenant says their sins and lawless acts, I’ll remember no more, and where these have been forgiven, there’s no longer any sacrifice. So he’s saying to man, man, cut out your stuff. There’s no more sacrifices. There’s no more priests to forgive sins. There’s no more keeping short accounts with God. You are a forgiven person that was ushered in at the death of Christ, not the life of Christ. And so therefore, to get into the scriptures, not books, into the scriptures, trusting Christ, who lives in you that He promised to reveal the meaning of the word of God to you, Justin, and he will do that if you let him live in total dependency. Yeah, then live in dependency. When you get into the Word of God, it’s here’s your heart attitude, Jesus, the only reason that I’m studying this Bible is to get to know you. It’s the only book on the face of the earth that the reason you study it is to get to know the author. No other book does that except the Bible. And so I want to know you, and I want to know the depths of your love, and I want to know the meaning of what I’m reading, but I cannot understand the meaning of it if you don’t reveal it to me. And so I’m counting on you to show me the meaning of the word of God. That attitude ” ~ Bob George
