Classic Christianity – Book of Hebrews P90 (04-09-24)

Repentance is a Change of Mind of Who Jesus is and What He Did on the Cross

~ Most people have NOT changed their minds about what Jesus did on the cross. They give lip service to Jesus and His finished work on the cross. Jesus, God in flesh, took away the sins of the world. Yet every big box and most small box churches are teaching the lie of ongoing forgiveness. And people are so in love with their false ministers of righteousness, that they don’t care what the bottom line teaching is in regards to forgiveness. These people are dead. They are dead in their unbelief. They think they are saved, yet they hop onto other lies of Satan simply because that is what their itching ears want to hear. And there is nothing new under the sun. Satan has done a masterful job of deceiving the nations (all the people of the world). People love their sports stars, their movie stars, and even use them for quoting other lies of the devil. Then there are those that constantly throw out the word of God because they spread the lie of two different gospels today. One for the Hebrews and another for the Gentiles. They will even dismiss the teaching of Jesus, and elevate Paul above Jesus as though Jesus and Paul are not even teaching the same gospel. Jesus taught to believe in HIM for Life. Paul taught to believe in Jesus for Life. Peter taught to believe in Jesus for Life. John taught to believe in Jesus for Life. Folks, there is only one way of salvation, and that is faith in Jesus and what he did on the cross. Hebrews/Israelites are saved the same EXACT way as a Gentile, by faith in HIM.

And words matter today. Pay attention to the details. All translations have been corrupted in meaning. Key English words that have been used to translate from the Hebrew and Greek words have been changed in meaning also. Don’t even pay attention to the commentaries. They are put there to take away your dependence on the Holy Spirit to teach you the true meaning of the word of God. Use an online concordance and research the various words. The meaning of the word “Repentance” is a key example of one that has been altered in meaning.

Until a person is in Christ, and Christ is in them (through His Holy Spirit living in them), then people will remain confused by this world we live in. If you really want to understand the world we live in, then ask the Holy Spirit to show you TRUTH, ALL Truth, and when your eyes are open to the TRUTH, this world will look much much different than what you ever thought or imagined. Stop listening to the lies of demons and the devil, spread through the mouthpieces of fake ministers of righteousness. And you know who they are. We shouldn’t have to name them, 99.999% of all of them. For the Holy Spirit will point them out for you. Once you realize how fake they really are, then you will realize they are there to deceive you, and to be a gate keeper from ALL TRUTH. And don’t even lean on your own understanding of anything today, for we were all taught lies from birth. And even Bob George had mentioned that numerous times during his teaching days of not trusting in man, even himself. And if Bob George had changed his mind on key aspects of scripture (which he had), he would have told you so (which he did). A person can change their mind of key parts and the meaning of scripture, as the Holy Spirit renews each of our minds today, teaching us TRUTH. And if you have not repented (changed your mind) of anything in the last four years, then you have learned nothing. Don’t be so proud to think you know it all either. For none of us are God, and only God knows it ALL. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you TRUTH, and He will make known the lies of the world.

Pray to God:
“Lord Jesus, teach me the truth of the world today. Thank you God.”

~ "Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For,

“In just a little while,
he who is coming will come
    and will not delay.”

And,

“But my righteous one will live by faith.
    And I take no pleasure
in the one who shrinks back.”

But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved." Hebrews 10:19-39

~ “And so that’s what the book of Hebrews is warning us against is because it’s saying that if we keep insisting after we’ve heard truth, now it does account for this area that we can be. We could just be fooled. We can just be in custom all kinds of things can take place. But it says when you’ve heard truth and refuse then to finalize the truth that you’ve heard. Then he says that is a dangerous thing because it may be that you’ve never changed your mind to begin with. And that’s why it talks about in the sixth chapter of Hebrews that is impossible. In other words for you and me to be brought back to repentance. Well have you ever noticed that you can’t be brought back from where you haven’t been? Have you ever notice that it’s hard to come back from where you haven’t been? Even I can figure that out, tired as I am I got that figured out. It’s hard to come back from where you haven’t been. So when he’s talking that you’d it’s impossible for you to come back to repentance is because you’ve never changed your mind to begin with. And have a person after hearing truth continues to insist on going back to his old system and back to his old system, there’s nothing else you can conclude except for the fact you’ve never changed your mind to begin with. And that’s why he said, My sheep hear my voice. And if you don’t hear the voice, maybe it’s because you’re not his sheep. Because if you keep insisting on doing things your way and our way, instead of when you’ve heard his way, maybe it’s because you’re following a different shepherd. And so it’s a warning to us not to put us on a guilt trip. Because this is not a guilt trip. This is a message of freedom and joy. It is a message that says you can’t but I did. It’s a message of saying there is no way man where you could have provided your own sacrifice for the vileness of your sin. There is no way that a dead human being can make life on his own. A corpse cannot create life. All a corpse could do would be to receive life from outside coming in and restoring life but a corpse cannot produce life, it’s cells are dead. So he said I’ve done it all for you. Now, why do you want to add to that? Why do you want to have a Jesus plus baptism, a Jesus plus tongues, a Jesus plus church attendance? A Jesus plus? Why do you want to add to what I did? Because you’re proud, that’s why. And because your heart is hardened. And you would rather draw attention to yourself and what you’re doing instead of to me and what I did. That’s what Christ is trying to get across to us is get rid of that stupid, hard, proud heart that draws attention to man and what he’s doing instead of God and what he’s doing. And if you insist on going back to drawing attention to yourself, instead of him, something’s wrong. And something’s wrong and your understanding of the grace of God that’s been given to us in Christ Jesus, that you’re not satisfied with me and what I did, and insist on you and what you’re doing. Can you see what he’s saying? What he’s trying to say to us here?” ~ Bob George

And so that’s what the book of Hebrews is warning us against is because it’s saying that if we keep insisting after we’ve heard truth, now it does account for this area that we can be. What he’s trying to say to us here?

So he’s talking about remember now picking up in verse 32. Remember those earlier days after you would received the light, you’d receive the truth, that’s not Hinduism, receiving the light in your chest. It’s not sitting around trying to get light. You receive the light of the gospel, the truth of the gospel, the truth went right into the darkness of our minds, and penetrated those minds of ours with the truth of the gospel. And he said, Remember, in those days after you had received the truth of the gospel, when you stood your ground, in a in in a great contest, in the face of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and to persecution. And at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated, my brother over here is being persecuted. I’ll go stand with him. And say, if you’re going to persecute him, then you persecute me, too, because we believe just alike, to remember those days. So remember, the days when you sympathize with those who were in prison, put in prison as a result of your faith in Jesus. And you joyfully accepted the compensation and confiscation of your property. And I came and took away all your property, joyfully said, take it. Because you knew that you yourselves had a better and lasting possession. You possess something more important than furniture pieces, and trinkets, and homes and cars. You possess something more precious than those things that are going to fade away. Those things that the thief can come in the night and steal, and that rust can destroy. That we possess a more precious possession than that. And that is the living Christ alive living in us, which is our hope of glory. So he said, don’t throw away your confidence. It’ll be richly rewarded. Don’t lose your confidence because of the trials and tribulations that come your way. And we walk around and all I’m just so filled with God. And then you let a trial and tribulation come. And I tell you just look like a skunk that just ate another skunk. I mean, your lower that a belly of a whale. Just where’s God? Where did he go? And in this world, Did not Jesus say in this world, you are going to have trials and tribulations? Didn’t he say that? So he didn’t say come unto Christ, that you’re going to eliminate all your trials and tribulations. The message of the of the cross and the resurrection of Christ isn’t come to me and everything’s gonna be just wonderful. Well, what about Christ? Was everything wonderful for him? I mean, here it was God walking on the earth, Christ Himself God on the earth. How did people respond to Him God? Well some people said, You’re a wine bipper and a glutten, other people said your demon possessed, Beelzebub in the flesh.

Because He was God did not cause people to respond to Him as God and because you’re indwelt by God isn’t going to cause people to respond to you. That in this world, we have to realize we are in the world, but we’re not of the world and in the world, we are enemies in a world in which we live. And we’re going to experience trials and tribulations and heartaches and insults and injuries for the rest of our lives. He said, Don’t give up on that type of thing. Don’t throw away your confidence in the Lord because of adverse circumstances in the world.

I have people that I’ve seen that I’ve been taught and taught and taught and taught and all of a sudden the scripture comes to pass always hearing and never able to come to truth because the least trial and tribulation that comes away, their faith is shattered. Why? Because I didn’t have any to begin with. Our faith gets shattered with the least little thing that comes our way. Whereas God? You know why folks? Because many times we’re taught and we think that God is the good vending machine in the sky. That any time I want a candy bar. Oh, wonderful me All I got to split my little quarter of faith and jerk the knob and out comes the candy bar. And do you see what God did to me? I not only put a quarter in that sucker, man I dumped a buck and a quarter and that thing and I still didn’t get a candy bar and I just got all this faith in there and I’ve been pulled the knob putting it in there and pull the knob, nothing’s coming out. Where’s God he must mean he doesn’t love me animal. God’s not a heavenly vending machine is the world he said persecuted me. They will persecute you. If the world mistreated me, they will mistreat you. That’s a far cry, is it not? From this theological garbage that is being taught today about prosperity gospel. If you’re in Christ, he wants to everyone rich Well, I guess he didn’t like Paul. Paul the in his life was in prison. He said, Would you please to his friend bring my cloak and my parchments I’m cold. Do you have a coat to where? Christ died they all had gambled for him was his robe and do you realize that there are people say yeah, there’s a good robe. Why that was a rich one that was made of the finest cloths. The Bible tells us that anyone who preaches that God ugliness as a means to financial gain as a man of a perverted mind. And Christians are following perverts by the millions and contributing millions of dollars to the ministry of a pervert, according to the Word of God. There is nothing biblical about a prosperity gospel. Now these people, he’s talking about people who are in Christ, He’s saying, don’t lose your confidence. How come? Because everything’s going great for you? What do you need, you lose your confidence and because things are going right for you. You need to persevere. He says, hang in there. So as if when you’ve done the will of God, you’ll receive what He promised for in just a little while it says He who is coming will come and not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I’m not going to be pleased with him on that. But we’re not those who shrink back. He’s talking about us. He’s talking about people who are in Christ, we’re not of those group and shrink back are destroyed. In other words, they’ve taken their steps toward God, they walked out and said, I’m a Christian, but there’s no reality inside. And therefore when the trials and tribulations of life hit, away they go, how come? But John says they went out from among us, because they were never a part of us. It’s because of people that we’ve many times have an enlightened soul but we have an unregenerate spirit. We’ve never been indwelt by the power of God that lives in us, who is Christ Jesus. We came to him for something other than Him. The second chapter of the book of John tells us about that when he said they believed in the miracles he did we have people following miracles, one miracle after another miracle after another miracle, like Jesus is a magician of some kind. And he said they saw the miracles that He did they believed in his name. Why do they believe in his name? Miracle, man, maybe do one for me. Follow him close enough I made to get me one of those good miracles. I need one.

Bob George 14:11
And so we follow him for a motive of a miracle man instead of who he is God that says they believed in his name, we’d say say, no, no, no, keep reading. It says Jesus did not entrust himself to them. They were trying to entrust themselves to him because he was a miracle man. But he said I don’t trust myself to you. Because they said I know man, and I do not need the testimony about man concerning man. I know you I made you. And I don’t need man’s testimony about man. In other words, I do not need Freud to come along to tell me about man. I know man, I made you. And so he he said to us, he said very clearly on that. Why did he not interest himself and people come along after all they were sincere. So because I know you. It was the same thing when people went over to Capernaum and followed him over to Capernaum after he had just fed the 5000. And he did not say to them, the truth of the matter is, is the reason you follow me over here was because I fed those people over there and all you’re looking for is some food. You got and feed somebody today, one meal, and we do that Thanksgiving, do, I’m gonna do some good deed for the year, I’m gonna go feed the poor, and so good and give them a meal. How much good is one meal a year? I mean, just how much is that going to do for you one meal a year? He said, My food is a spiritual food. It’s not a quick fix. It’s the bread of life. You eat from me, you’ll never be hungry again. And then the Lord Jesus Christ was saying, there’s a real bread, there’s a real food, there’s a real drink. When you drink of me, you’ll never thirst again. You say, Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled. You already have the righteousness of Christ. I don’t hunger and thirst after what I already have. I hungered and thirsted until I had it. But today, if you’re in Christ, Christ has imputed to you His righteousness. And I don’t need to hunger and thirst for what I already have. I just need to rejoice in the fact that I have it. And that’s faith, folks, that that is what faith is all about. It is the substance that says the things that we hope for and are certain of what we don’t see. I don’t see, in my own human experience, I don’t see that walk around saying, Hey, I’m righteous. But I know full well on the side of God, that I have the righteousness of Christ, how come? He told me I did. He said, I gave it to you. He said, I’ve clothed you in my righteousness. Do I know that I have Christ living in me? Absolutely. Absolutely. Without question. How long is that going to be? Forever. That’s an eternal deal. Well, if I’m gonna believe that, then what did he say in regard to that? Said Bob I clothed you in my righteousness, you don’t have a righteousness of your own, I figured that I’d only meet faith for that one. So if I’m going to go into the presence of a righteous God, then he had to do something to me. And that was make me righteous, I couldn’t make myself righteous. If I try some people again, try. And we’re told, if you can pray hard enough, speak in tongues enough. get healed enough. Go to church enough, be a Baptist, be a Catholic, whatever it might be, do whatever you want to put into those things that make a difference. Get baptized enough. Put anything you want in there, you’ll be holy, ridiculous. You’re holy only because Christ made you holy. That means to be set apart. He alone set you apart, you don’t set yourself apart by what you do. You’ve been set apart by what he did.

Now, this is what he is talking about here. Then don’t shrink back from these things. Don’t throw away your confidence. Because your confidence is in him and what he is doing, not you and what you’re doing. Don’t throw away your confidence. Now if I have it, my confidence in the Lord is predicated upon me and how I’m feeling and what I am doing, then my confidence is in shaky ground, isn’t it? Let’s turn back, Jesus talked about this and proclaim this. He proclaimed these things. And now Paul is explaning, and the writer of Hebrews explaning them. But he proclaimed that and told us of the forerunner of that back in the 13th chapter of Matthew. So you may want to turn back there for a moment. Jesus was forewarning, His apostles about what was going to occur about what he was we were going to place their faith in. Let me ask you a question was Judas, up until the cross and prior a little before that? Was he a follower of Jesus? Well, of course, he was a follower. Was he saved? No. Was he a follower? Sure. But he didn’t follow him to where he was going. He stopped short before he got to where Jesus went to the cross the burial and the resurrection. But he’s a follower of Christ, and enlightened soul. Sure. Regenerate spirit. Absolutely not. So are there people like that today? Absolutely. And Jesus was talking about that. He said the same day Jesus went out of the house and he sat by the lake. It’s one of the reasons Bob Davis is so fond of Jesus. He likes to likes to sit by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he said he got into a boat. And he sat in it while all the people stood there on the shore. And he told them these many things in these parables, he said, you know, a farmer went out to sow a seed. And he was scattering the seed and this seed that he was sowing, some fell along a path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places where they did not have much soil, it sprang up quickly, all excited about the things of God. But because the soil was shallow, and when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they weathered because he didn’t have any root. Other seed fell among the thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil where it produced a crop 100 fold 60, 30 times what was sown. He said, He who has ears, let him listen. He didn’t say if you have ears, hear, if you got ears, you’re gonna hear. He said Listen. Take in what I’m saying, Don’t just be a hearer. Listen to what’s being said. Those appendages sitting on the side of your head are for a purpose. And it’s not just to take in sounds is to take in sounds so that you can listen to what’s being said here, what I’m saying to you. Well, the disciples came to him and said, Why do you speaking to the people in these parables? He replied, the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, have been given to you to the apostles, but not to them, and whoever has will be given more, and he’ll have an abundance and whoever does not have even what he has will be taken from him. And this is why I speak to them in parables. Now folks, the people he is speaking to had religion. They were the Hebrews, who had knowledge of the coming Messiah. They had knowledge of the fact through the announcement and the pronouncement of John the Baptist that the kingdom of God was near. They had knowledge of the Old Testament scriptures. As a matter of fact, if you were an Orthodox Hebrew, you had most of the Old Testament memorized in one form or another. So it wasn’t the fact that it was an in here, they just didn’t know what it meant. They were listening, but they weren’t listening. They were hearing but they weren’t listening. That’s why Jesus continually was saying, if you’re not ears, why don’t you listen, not just hear sounds, listen to what’s being said, Take it in. Because the kingdom of God is here. You’ve been reading about the Kingdom of God, you knew it was coming, and it’s here and you won’t listen to what it’s saying to you. It’s like the Pharisees were the custodians of the interpretation of the written word. And we know the written word, and we’re students of the book and we know the book and we know the book and we know the book. And we are the interpretation. The interpreters are the custodians of this written word. And all of a sudden, the living word stood in front of the interpreters of the written word. And the Living Word didn’t agree with the interpreters of the written word. So they crucified him hunting to a cross. Now it’s the same type of thing he saying, you see, the Living Word is standing in front of you listen to what he’s saying. So he says, Those scenes they don’t, they don’t see, you see, but you don’t see. Though hearing you don’t hear, or understand. And then Then he said, is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, you will ever be hearing but never understanding. You will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

Do you know people that? There’s people like that I can just tell him I mean, just give truth and I understand. It’s like the old mutual that you need to hit in the head of the two before just get their attention. I don’t understand, Jesus loves you. I don’t understand. What don’t you understand which word Jesus loves? Or you? Which one of those three Don’t you understand which word are you confused over? But folks, he’s saying you don’t understand you don’t why you don’t understand? Because that’s a spiritual truth. And it says that natural man cannot understand spiritual things. It sounds foolish to him. Know why you are having trouble understanding, you know why you don’t understand? It’s because it says you’re a natural man. In other words, you may be religious but you haven’t come to Christ. Because if this book is written by the Spirit of God and you have the Spirit of God living in you, the Spirit living in you testifies to what you’ve just heard the Spirit say to you. And if you’re constantly saying, I don’t understand, I don’t understand there’s a reason. Don’t don’t, you don’t need to be on a guilt trip for that just recognize the reason it’s not that you’re dumb. Because the most intellectual people in the world were students of the Bible, but they didn’t understand Jesus. That’s why the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. Because I don’t understand the cross. Why? Because I’ve never accepted the act of the cross. I’ve never come to Christ except that that that sounds foolish to me, that you give me a religion, something I can do and learn and pass on. I’ll go along with that. But don’t tell me of a man who hung on a cross and did at all, that I don’t have anything to do with that except to by faith that doesn’t challenge my marvelous brain that I have up here. And so natural man cannot understand those spiritual things that sounds foolish to him. But it says we have Christ literally have the mind of Christ and can discern all things spiritually, because spiritual things have to be discerned spiritually. And unless you have the Spirit of God live in and you don’t understand spiritual truths. So why couldn’t they understand? They knew what was said they had ears they were hearing, but they were listening. Why? Couldn’t hear if they did. You’ll always be hearing he said, never understanding. You’ll always be seeing, but you’ll never be perceiving for it says, Here’s the reason his people’s hearts have become calloused. And they hardly hear with their ears and they’ve closed their eyes. Folks, you get people sometimes who say unless I can see it, I don’t believe it. In other words, unless you see it, you don’t believe it. Yeah, I tried. You take a glass of water and put a pencil in it. What do you see that pencil do? Well, it looks like it’s cracked into is that true? No, it isn’t true. It’s an illusion. That’s not true. So do you always believe what you see it better? Better not, never right with that pencil.
