Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P436 (5-02-19)

Bob George RadioBob George answers questions commonly asked. “Have I committed the unpardonable sin?” “Is there a sin I commit that God will say He has had it with me?” “Do I have to keep asking God for forgiveness of sin?” When a person asks such questions, the person is either not born again or does not have a firm grasp on truth. The only person who really knows he is born again is the person himself, for the Spirit of God will testify within him that he is a child of God. He who has the Son has the life and who does not have the son does not have the life. If a person is believing a lie, then he is living as if he is still spiritually dead, and not in the joy of the Lord. A child of God is living under the grace of a loving heavenly Father who has already taken away the sins of the world, not counting your sins against you. Bob explains the full gospel to Jeremy, who called from Phoenix, AZ. Bob asked Jeremy several questions and Jeremy indicated he may not be born again and wanted to accept Jesus into his life to become a child of God.

Jeremy from Phoenix, AZ

Jeremy expressed his internal thoughts concerning God and salvation to Bob over the air. Jeremy wondered if he is saved. He thinks he has committed the unpardonable sin. He has prayed to receive Christ before but still has doubts and wondered if he has truly repented. At times he wonders about the Trinity, about how God can be three in one. He has these doubts if a certain sin has kept him from God. He gets caught up in continuing to confess sins. Is there a point that a man can go that is impossible to return to the Lord?

Bob replied by proving further information at to what Jesus accomplished in his death, burial and resurrection and made that provision for salvation personal to Jeremy. To die in unbelief is the only unpardonable sin. The only sin attributable to man is the sin of denying or the passive indifference to the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ Jesus. The sins of the world have all been placed on the back of God never to be seen again. The sins of the world were taken away from the eyes of God. God is not looking upon our sins today.

2 Corinthians 5:19
God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.

Hebrews 10:17
Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”

John 16:9
The world’s sin is unbelief in me

He is looking at our sin of the rejection of the Son of God. The only question God will ask you is what did you do with my Son? Did you accept by faith what he came to do for you when he died on the cross to take away your sins and was raised from the dead to give life to you? Or did you ignore that with a passive indifference or active rebellion? Why did God do that? God did that because how are sins going to be judged? How many sins will you have to commit before he says he had it. How many good deeds would you have to do before he could say you are okay? There is no way to determine that. So he neutralized the entire world, both Jew and Gentile, into the area of spiritual death. He took away their sins so man is not being judged by how much or how little he sinned. The only question God asks is this: “Have you come alive in my Son? Did you accept my Son?”

Hebrews 10:5-18
5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;
6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.
7 Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll — I have come to do your will, my God.’”
8 First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them” — though they were offered in accordance with the law.
9 Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second.
10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,
13 and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool.
14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
15 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
16 “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”
17 Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary

God sent his only Son, Jesus, to die to take away the cause of death, which is sin, in order to offer new life to man. We are saved by His resurrected life.

Romans 5:10
For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

From the words of the apostle Paul, without the resurrection we are to be most pitied of all men.

1 Corinthians 15:9
If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

We have to come to the point to claim by faith that he not only died for my sins but the sins of the whole world. That is either a truth or a lie. If it is a lie, then pitch the bible and go ahead and eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you die (1 Corinthians 15:32). But if that is true, and you have not rebelled against the knowledge of the truth (Hebrews 10:26) and accepted that by faith then you do not have to worry about if you have sinned too much or what is this sin going to do in relation to God because that sin is put on the back of God not to be seen again.

Then how is God dealing with me today? He is not dealing with me on the basis of sin. If he was then he would have to deal with you in relation to sin and death.

Romans 8:1-2
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

It is like having a law without a penalty. Law has no meaning without a penalty. Law of speeding has no meaning if there was no ticket or fine when a person is caught speeding. There is no teeth in it. So God is not dealing with us on the basis of sin and death. He is dealing with you on the basis of childhood and fatherhood.

John 1:12
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

Galatians 5:1
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

John 8:32
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Philippians 2:13
for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose

Romans 7:6
But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

He is dealing with you on the basis of renewing the mind, teaching us truth and setting you free. You have been born again to serve in the new way of the Spirit, not in the old way of the law that brings death. Like dealing with a small child, you are constantly admonishing and disciplining them until they mature. That is God’s dealing with you.

There is no condemnation awaiting you. As far as these thoughts you are talking about, that if you are in Christ, and only you can determine that, and that if you are, forget about what you are doing but have saving faith in what he has done. Have you believed beyond a doubt of what God has done? Do you believe Christ was raised from the dead, so that you, who were born dead, could be raised into the newness of life in Him? Have you accepted the fact that you were dead spiritually and God offered his resurrected life and you come to Him by faith that if God did not give me life then I will not enter into the life of God. Your entire confidence is in Jesus and Him alone. If you stand before God and He asks you why you deserve to be in heaven, then the only answer you will ever consider is that you have his Son and that you have accepted Jesus and his provision for me. If those things are true in your life then you are born again.
Satan knows he has lost you eternally for God but will still try to torture you with error. If you are truly born again, it is not unusual for Satan to try to put doubts in your head.

1 Peter 5:8
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

(Recall Ephesians 6 on putting on the helmet of salvation.) But if you know truth, then how you handle those things is you decide not to listen to that error and replace error with truth. So when you know the truth then you know to stop listening to lies.

Where do you think you are Jeremy in relation to truth? Jeremy is afraid that although he prayed a prayer before but has doubt if got into his heart. Praying is not the issue. No one is saved by praying. You are saved by faith. Faith is an expression of the truth that has taken place in your heart. No one is saved by praying. You are saved by faith. When you placed faith in Jesus is when you, in your heart, say to Jesus, this is true. If Jesus did not take away sins then you are still in your sins. If Jesus did not raise the dead then I am still dead. Prayer can or cannot be an extension of truth of what has already taken place in your heart.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures

Jeremy thinks he has not really trusted him. Bob asks him, “Do you think you are ready to do this today? I almost hesitate to ask you to pray with me. If you are ready to trust him is like believing the chair is able to hold you up. Then you have to sit in it. If what you are putting your trust in, and this does not work, then you and I will be in hell. It is placing faith in the truth of the death, burial and resurrection for you. For what he did for you, and not just a historical event. He died for you. When he raised from the dead he was raised with you in mind.

John 11:25-26
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

If you say yes that you do believe this and put faith in that, then you are born again. As a way of expressing that this is what I know to be true from this day forward, is to merely say to God that you believe what he has told me. Bob asks Jeremy, “If you want to do that then I want to pray with you?”

Bob prays with Jeremy and Jeremy repeats the words back. Again, prayer does not save anyone, but prayer is an expression to God of what you believe to be true concerning God’s provision of life for you through his death, burial and resurrection.

“I believe what you said in your word. ‘Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life (1 John 5:12).’ I do not want to remain dead. I therefore ask you to come into my heart as my Lord and Savior and best friend.”

That is the last time you have to do this. For you to have doubts is not unusual for Satan is your enemy. As far as the Trinity, I cannot see Spirit. We cannot comprehend the Spirit. I cannot touch, taste or see Spirit. We try to put flesh and blood on that. God is Spirit. God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I may not be able to comprehend but I can apprehend that. It is stated, therefore I know that to be true. There is one person and exists as God, Father and Holy Spirit. Bob sent him a new believers packet to guide him on a path of growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Bob closed with these words, “Depend on Jesus, who lives in you, to reveal the truth of the meaning of the word of God to you.”

Julie from Kansas City, MO

Julie called to encourage and thank Bob. She was reading in 2 Timothy 2:23 about foolish questioning.

2 Timothy 2:23
23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.

She had noticed that Bob refused to speak to callers who have their own hidden agenda. He does not allow them to speak but makes himself available to those, like Jeremy, who are really seeking. This is not a radio program for those to promote their own agenda. If yo want to promote your own agenda, then get on your own program to do that. We do not get into foolish arguments. We are here to present truth as God has revealed it to us. We are in an arena to be conducive for person listening to hear truth and come to Christ. Sometimes we miss the point on that but on the whole pretty consistent on rejecting those calls.

Julie commented that so many are benefiting and the program is so valuable. Last week, she remembered hearing a fine young man had found a little church where a pastor is open to the grace message. He did not say the name of the church. Julie asked Bob, “Would it be okay to get number off air of that church?” If he is listening then he can give that phone number. She left her number with Bob so that she can connect with a like-minded believer. She gave her number to Bob George so as to connect with listeners in the Kansas City area of like mind.

Donna from Nashville, TN

She was a first time caller. She called to get guidance in how to parent her 18 year old son. He is making bad decisions in relations, and she has evidence he is visiting porn sites, and has confronted him about that. She was trying to speak truth in love and not provoke wrath in him. She is having a hard time in transitioning in parenting him as a young adult and not as a child.

When a child that old, a freshman in college, if he does not have a foundation now, then he has to get his own foundation somehow. He may have to fall on his face to get a foundation. Today, so many young men get into college and get caught up in wild living and drinking, going down to those beaches, and especially men acting like morons and idiots. It is strange to think these young men are the hope of the world acting like that and yet getting interviews upon graduation. These were guys drunk on a beach.

It is a good thing God has to get a hold of us sooner or later. You are in college to get educated but what you really need educated on is how to live. Bob asked, “Are all of you Christians? Does he know the Lord?” Yes, she said. This is the advice Bob told her.

Son, look, you have got choices as a child of God to make any decisions you make, but when you choose to get in to alcohol that alters the mind and destroys the body, those are poor decisions. I come to you as a friend not as a parent for you are beyond parenting now. For your own good, let us reason together. As a parent who loves you, these decisions you are making are going to destroy you if you do not ultimately change your mind and start on a new path.

Bob then asks Julie how long has this behavior been going on. She tells Bob that in high school he was a little rebellious at 16 but at 17 he got more rebellious. When you let kids have liberty in high school then they have a place to come home to. In high school, you have a place to learn these things of life. Let your kids have enough liberty that when they fall on their face, then there is a safe place to come home to and receive guidance as well as unconditional love.

Bob then encourages her in reaching her son, and offers suggestion of what to say. “There is no one going to love you any more than your mom. I am not coming here to chastise you. I am not parenting you anymore. You are beyond that. You seem like you are lost and like you do not know where you are going. I want to talk to you as a friend. I am talking to you as a friend who cares for you.” Do not get shocked by it. Just keep talking to him about the love of God and how much He loves him.
