Be Thankful in Everything

Classic Christianity – Thanksgiving Part 4 (11-28-19)

Synopsis

Turn to Romans and read along as Bob explains its meaning. The book of Romans is a book of contrast between law and grace. The purpose of the law is for man to recognize his sinfulness, his condition of spiritual death, that he might seek a Savior in Jesus Christ. There is so much that the apostle Paul explains concerning the law; its purpose, it’s inability to make one righteous before God, it’s ministry of death to make man realize his sinful state. The law is like a mirror. A mirror can show dirt on the face but it has no power to remove the dirt. So too is the law to show man he is a sinner but there is no power in the law to make anyone righteous before God.

The law demands perfect obedience, which no man in his weakened sinful state could ever completely obey. As James said, if a man obeyed all of the law but failed at just one point, then he is guilty of breaking all of the law. A law without a penalty is no law at all. The law would have no meaning. God’s penalty for sin is spiritual death.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Thank You Jesus For Forgiveness

Classic Christianity – Thanksgiving Part 3 (11-27-19)

Synopsis

It is so easy to forget. Paul reminds us again and again to be joyful always. How can we be joyful? First of all, do you have the Spirit of the living God living in you? Yes, you say. Then you are given the privilege of participating in the divine nature, the nature to be joyful. Why? What trust did you have for Christ to do for you? What was the biggest thing God did for you? He died for your sins, and indeed the sins of the entire world. Before you were even born, he demonstrated his love for mankind. He also had you in mind, in that while you were yet his enemy, a sinner, he died for you. He died so that the punishment of death required for sin was paid in full. He would bear the full consequence of that sin, and the sins of the entire world, upon himself, a price too great for you to pay. He did this so that when you came to see your condition of death you would look to him for new life. He was raised to new life so that that life that raised him from the dead would raise you from the dead also, and so you could live a new life.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Work of Ministry is to Believe in Jesus

Classic Christianity – Thanksgiving Part 2 (11-26-19)

Synopsis

Where are you in this coming up Thanksgiving season? Are you in a season of your life now where you are free to talk with your mother or your father? Or is that relationship strained? Do you have brothers and sisters in Christ whom you can be with? Well, you are blessed. God tells us to be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. What does that mean? God sees you and rejoices with you when you rejoice but He also grieves with you when you grieve. He is always available for help in time of need. And there is the peace of God that surpasses all understanding because you know Him. You have understood and entered the Sabbath rest with God. That is why we can be thankful. We learn patience and endurance through the things we struggle, the trial and tribulations of life, humbly depending on the Holy Spirit of God, who leads us from within, as a child of God. That is why we can boast in our weaknesses, for when we are weak, He is strong.

2 Corinthians 1:2-4
2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit

Classic Christianity – Thanksgiving Part 1 (11-25-19)

Synopsis

So often people trust the words of their pastor or some person. He could be Calvin or MacArthur or your baptist preacher or your Presbyterian preacher, or your Catholic priest, and you would just trust what they tell you as true. After all, he went to seminary, you think. Or he got trained under 2000 years of church history just like the Jews did, for they had Moses as their teacher. But have you ever stopped to think if what they are saying is true? If you are born again, who is living in you? What did he promised you? That he would guide you into all truth. How do you suppose he is going to do that? If you are born again, did you know that you have the mind of Christ, the ability to discern the things of God and make judgments about all things?

Now, we have the example in scripture where Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Satan quoted scripture, but he did it to deceive. Jesus also responded with scripture. He would say, but scripture also says. Now, how important is the word of God, the scriptures, the 66 books of what is called the bible, to know the truth?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith Says Thank You to God

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P15 (11-20-19)

Synopsis

Have you ever tried to share the gospel with those who have been taught from their traditions hundreds of years? How hard it is to tell someone that everything they have been taught is wrong! So many people today are still approaching righteousness with God based on what they do. This is the same thing Paul faced sharing truth with the Jewish people. They claimed they believed in Moses and have Abraham as their father. The Jews took offense at the fact that the Gentiles, the heathen, idol worshiping Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have received righteousness, and yet they, who work at obeying the law, have not received righteousness from God. Why not? They pursued a righteousness as if by works of the law and not by faith.

So Paul appeals to the Jews, those of his own race and upbringing, to consider what Abraham believed? Abraham believed God and his faith was credited to him as righteousness, and that before the law was given, before he was even circumcised. In those days, circumcision is not unlike baptism of today. It was a sign of someone’s faith. The sign of someone’s faith in God for those in the Old Testament was the sign of circumcision.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith in Jesus Only

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P14 (11-19-19)

Synopsis

The purpose of the law is explained. The law was put in charge to lead us to Christ so that we could be justified by faith and not through obedience to the law. The law could never make anyone righteous. It was never designed for that. The law was added so that man might recognize he is a sinner, and come to the end of himself, saying: “I cannot do this. I keep falling short. What a wretched man I am! Who can save me from this body of death?” The law is to show you that you are dead and in need of life.

Now, if you do not have a clue as to the ministry of the Holy Spirit, you will have to hold onto something in your life. You are going to hang onto the law or be like the total heathen world as it is becoming in this country, where you believe you do not need the law. The heathen says: “I do not need Jesus. I do not need anything. I just let my conscience be my guide and then I do not pay any attention to it either.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
