Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P606 (02-05-21)
When you are helped by the truth you receive, you are so grateful, especially all the more as you see that truth at work to set you free. So many callers have called to thank Bob for the truth they heard, from either a conversation on the Classic Christianity radio program or from the many resources he has available, as he helps people understand the truth from the scriptures, from what the Lord has revealed to him.
One of the most common questions is in regard to overcoming depression. First of all, depression is not unusual. It is so common to all men. God knows our tendencies, our weaknesses, and how our mind works. He is our creator after all. So why not go to Him for truth on such matters?
So first realize that our emotions respond predictably to what we put in our minds. If you see a scary movie, that scene you saw, your mind does not know the difference between reality and fantasy. So when we hear depressing news, or experience sad things in life, if you dwell on a past event in your life that … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P605 (02-04-21)
All of us struggle with all kinds of things in this fallen flesh of ours. It is good to know the mercy and grace of God. No matter what you are going through, there is hope in God. What a blessing it is when you have someone to talk to, who has been through what you are going through, and has learned to overcome the flesh by the power of the Holy Spirit, having had his mind renewed with truth.
Whether you are struggling with depression or in the process of going through a divorce, there is practical wisdom in Christ to deal with these struggles. The apostle Paul addressed some issues in regard to divorce in terms of the grace of God, under the New Covenant that we live under now. Yes, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. So often believers have not come to understand that they do not live under the law any more. That changes the whole dynamic of how you live and understand those scriptures like the sermon on the mount, and those passages in the epistles of the … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P36 (07-08-20)
You are growing in grace, but you sense in your Spirit that you are not really experiencing all that God wants for you. You read about the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-24, and you ask yourself, “Am I really experiencing those things in my life?” If you are not, you ask yourself, “Why not? What is preventing me from experiencing what is truly life; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self control?”
Could it be you are looking in the wrong places? Could it be that you are still thinking like the world thinks, that money will buy you happiness? Why is it that the world seems to value people who are rich and famous, successful people, who are influential in the eyes of the world. In 1923, Bob George read from the Be Born Free gospel tract about the lives of nine successful men, and what happened in their lives 20 years later. They learned how to make money but they never learned how to live.
Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P35 (07-07-20)
This blessed hope is that what we hold onto, the truth we have heard from God and have put our faith in. This faith and love spring from the hope that is stored up for you. When you know someone who loves you deeply and perfectly, then you trust what He says is true. God has made known to us that He has taken away all our sins, that He has prepared a place for us and that He has already seated us in the heavenly places with Him. There is this hope, a certainty, a fulfilled promised, of being made complete in Christ. Christ will never leave you or forsake you. He has made every provision for you, both now and in a new permanent residence of heaven where there is no more sorrow, sickness, pain, sin or death. We have everything when we are in Christ. That is the blessed hope.
This body of ours we live in today is a tent, a temporary dwelling place for the Spirit of God living in us. We will get a new body some day. This world … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P34 (07-06-20)
Jesus Christ truly is our only hope. No one can live the Christian life. We were never designed to lean on our own understanding. That is how denominations start, with all its various ideas made up by men. We were designed to acknowledge Him, to have the Holy Spirit of God living in us. Yet, we were born without the Spirit of God living in us. That is why God sent His Son to rescue us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. We were without hope, without God in our lives. We could not function as God intended. We were bound up in sin and death, to forever be separated from God if we remain in the state we are in, dead spiritually.
God sent Jesus to die on a cross to take the punishment of death for us. Only He was without sin. Only He had a life to lay down. Only He could be raised from the dead, for He had no sin of His own. Only He can offer life to mankind, for only He existed eternally, with no … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
