Jesus Did The Will of The Father

Synopsis

Our natural fallen flesh wants to be noticed and wants its own way. But as our mind gets renewed we learn to walk in the new way of the Spirit. We look at the example of Jesus as he walked this earth in total dependency on His Father. We see that attitude of humility of Jesus to leave heaven to live among men and become like one of us, who, in his attitude of servitude, came not to be served, but to serve, not to condemn but to save, and to lay down his life as a ransom for many. We zoom in and look at one detail of his life that demonstrates this attitude of not wanting your own way.

Jesus was sent on a rescue mission to rescue mankind from a certain condition of spiritual death and the problem of death is solved by life. If that problem is not solved, there is no hope for mankind. If what caused our death, which is sin, is not taken away first, mankind is lost forever. Jesus Loved Us First

Synopsis

We want to have attitudes of heart formed in us, the same attitude that is in Christ Jesus. A picture of the attitude of Christ Jesus is when he was in the garden of Gethsemane, agonizing over what he will experience for our sakes. Jesus said, “Lord, if there is any other way for this to be done, but it is not my will, but your will be done.”

These attitudes of heart, of servitude, of not wanting our own way, of not putting ourselves first, but honoring one another above ourselves, of going to another who is caught up in sin, not to condemn but to restore, of setting out to make peace with everyone, as far as it depends on you. These attitudes show up, of not having a critical spirit on another brother or sister who is called to a different function with a different gift than you, of not being jealous of another person’s success or notoriety or popularity, of being humble of heart saying if it were not for grace of God there go I.

Jesus Loves You God Forgave You

Synopsis

As we think of attitudes of heart that God wants to form in us, think about the attitude in Christ Jesus, who said, “Not my will but your will be done” and so he proceeded to carry out the will of the Father, which was to sacrifice himself on a cross to take upon the sins of the whole world. Now, that is contrary to the desire of the flesh that wants to save our lives. Recall the words of Jesus to us, “What good is it to gain the whole world and yet forfeit your soul?“ or “Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for my sake will save it.”

Our flesh does not naturally want persecution, hardships and trials, yet we know they will come and we know the things the Lord told us about concerning end time events, and the birth pains we must endure. So when we pray, do we pray like Jesus, and say, “Lord, I know what I want to happen, but Lord, it is not my will that I want. Forgive as the Lord Forgave You

Synopsis

As we read in Philippians, concerning the attitude in Christ Jesus, there are three basic attitudes that God wants to form in us, the attitudes of servitude, humility and dependency on the Father. When we come to Christ by faith in his death, burial and resurrection for us, we are on the starting line, where for the very first time the Spirit of God is placed in us. The mind of Christ is what we now have, to discern the things of God.

We need the mind of Christ so that our minds can be renewed with truth to replace the error of the world, the philosophies and the thinking of the world that has kept us in bondage and is contrary to the life God has given us. We are instructed to renew our minds with the new mind God has freely given us, to be able to walk in the new life. We have this option to participate in the divine nature. We are to have this attitude that if not for the grace of God, there go I.

Forgiveness is Finished

Synopsis

We are to walk by faith in truth. We are to walk by faith in Christ, who gave his life for you so he could give his life to you so he could live his life in you and through you. Indeed, it is by faith in what Christ alone has done, by his death, burial and resurrection that we have become a child of God. As a child of God you have been given the choice to walk in the newness of life, to choose to participate in the divine nature, who lives in you. As a child of God, Christ lives in you. Everything that is a characteristic of God; compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, is in you. You do not have to go get compassion or pray for patience. You already have all of that, who is Christ Jesus, living in you. You access Him. He is already there, in you. You clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. You put it on.

Jesus is Talking to You

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P63 (09-09-20)

Synopsis

So we allow Christ to live His life in us and through us by having our minds renewed with truth, of who God is, so that new attitudes of heart are formed in us, the attitudes of servitude, of humility and dependency that are in Christ Jesus, and modeled perfectly by Christ as He walked on this earth, in appearance as a man, being God, but functioning as a man for our sakes. We imitate His faith, not His actions. Actions are a result of attitudes, a result of dependency on Christ, being internally led by the Spirit of God who lives in us. When you have the Spirit of God living in you, then you can hear His voice like a sheep knows the voice of a shepherd. As a new creation in Christ, we have been given the privilege to participate in the divine nature.

Now, we were not born alive with the Spirit of God living in us. We were born spiritually dead. That is why man feels empty inside, because he is.
