If You Are in Christ, Offer Your Body as a Living Sacrifice

We need to be often reminded, that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. If a person is in Christ Jesus, and Christ is in you, we are told that we are the temple of God. As such, we are to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, that is holy and acceptable to God not based on what we do or what we don’t do, but because God has made us that way. He has made our bodies holy and blameless in His sight.

Romans 12:1
¹ Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Rest From Our Works

So many times, whether lost or saved, people get of the mindset, that they need to work for God. For the lost person, it is simply part of who they are. They are out there trying to perform for God in order for God to do something for them. But the Christian is in a similar mindset also. Especially in light of all the teaching of error that is going on in the pulpit today. However, we are told to enter into the Sabbath Rest. And that is what the book of Hebrews talks about.

Hebrews 4:9-11
⁸ For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. ⁹ There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; ¹⁰ for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. ¹¹ Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

It is so important to understand our identity and the completeness of our identity in Christ Jesus. God makes us a son of God when we receive Him by faith. He will never leave us nor forsake us, nor will he ever not call us a son.

Don’t let Satan put the lie in your head that somehow, by something you do or don’t do, that God is going to disown you. Remember this, if you go into the pigsty, God is right there with you.

So many times we fail to understand everything we have been given in Christ Jesus. So many Christians are still babies in Christ Jesus. Even though they may have been a Christian for years, they still have not grown to maturity. Hebrews 6:1 tells us to go on to maturity.

¹ Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God,
