Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P510 (02-07-20)
Many times callers call into the Classic Christianity radio to get answers to common questions, get clarifications or Bob’s thoughts on things they have heard from others, things that just does not sound right or the practical application of living in the new life you have in Christ Jesus. Many times, when you have a basic foundation in truth, these questions can easily be answered. If you know that you are under a New Covenant system of grace and not under the Old Covenant or law, and you know what salvation is, and what Jesus accomplished for you by his death, burial and resurrection, most of these questions can be answered.
Bob made it a point to say that if you put a few basic foundation truths together, such as what salvation is, salvation is by life not death (Romans 5:10), that righteousness is imputed to you (Romans 4:22-25), you do not have any righteousness of your own (Romans 3:10) and Jesus taught under an Old Covenant while proclaiming the New Covenant (Hebrews 7:27; Hebrews 10:14-18), you are under grace and not law (Romans 6:14), then all the findings that … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P509 (02-06-20)
Often times people have called into the Classic Christianity radio program with questions to help them know how to apply teaching or to get clarification on teaching they have heard that seems to conflict with what the Lord is beginning to teach them. Others simply call to thank Bob for the teaching of truth that has helped them to walk free of legalistic teaching, and want to encourage Bob to continue teaching truth.
More often than not, Bob will explain more thoroughly about the New Covenant we are under. Often times people will read something out of the gospels, such as Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, or the book of Acts, and struggle understanding what it means. The starting point to understand truth is to first of all be born again, having the Spirit of God living in you. Then as you read God’s word, you allow the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you.
The common mistakes people make are to read one scripture verse, taken out of its context, and try to explain or make up what it means. That is called leaning on your own understanding, and … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P39 (02-05-20)
What is the conclusion drawn in Romans 9, as Paul addresses both the Jew and the Gentile? It is about appealing to men to come to Christ by faith and faith alone. Do you want to be proud of heart, like the Jew, or do you want to be humble, like the Gentile, who believed the message Paul preached? Do you want God’s mercy? Do you want to receive God’s grace? If you are in Christ, you already have His grace. If you are still alive, it is His mercy that He already took your sins away, and He is long-suffering and patient with you, waiting for you to come to Him to receive new life.
The proud of heart will not come to Christ to receive life? Why not? They would rather trust their religion, how good they are, or rather they think they are, in observing the law. They would rather be a Jew than a Christian, to be more proud of their heritage than becoming a child of God. Others will not come to Christ for fear their deeds will be exposed. The problem is you are dead, … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P38 (02-04-20)
We are now in the 9th chapter of Romans. Recall the reason Paul is addressing the Romans is for the sake of the gospel. He longs for his own people the Jews to be saved. He explains the gospel is for Jew and Gentile alike, and it has always been by faith from first to last. In Romans 9, you read about the heart of love Paul, a Jew himself, has for his own people. As we addressed in Romans 8, God wants us to be convinced of God’s amazing love for us.
Why is it that the religious, particularly the leadership, do not come to Christ. Here are the Jews today, with over 2000 years of history, of Moses, the covenants, the prophets, and yet are stubborn and obstinate, and fail to believe. It was not God’s word that failed. The fault is with the people.
Just as it was then, so too people today will say they have over 2000 years of church history. They will consider you proud for going against church history, as if truth has been handed down from Peter, whom they say is the … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P37 (02-03-20)
What do you ponder over that Jesus did for us, who made us into one body of believers in Christ Jesus? Are you in Christ Jesus? Then you cannot help but say, “Thank you, Jesus”. Can you grasp the magnitude of His love for you? You who once had a heart of stone, have now been given a heart of flesh, a heart that expresses love toward others because of the love poured into you by Christ Jesus. Gratitude of heart is what expresses itself in love in a person who is born again, with the Spirit of God living in him, as He grows in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
What trials and tribulations, famine or sword, danger or hardship or persecution, have you already gone through? Did God ever leave you or forsake you during those times? No, it is in those times our roots go deeper into Christ Jesus. We learn the depth of His love for us. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us. In those deepest days of despair, longing to be with Him, feeling you cannot bear one … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
