Jesus is the Message of Grace and Truth

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 65 (08-28-19)

Synopsis

Bob George continues sharing from the 13th chapter of John. Here is Peter, like all of us, born spiritually dead, without the spirit of God living in him, living in darkness. But who is he listening to? He is listening to the Light of the world, the man sent from heaven, sent to explain spiritual truth to him. Can he understand what Jesus is saying? No. Neither could we without the Spirit of God living in us. Yet truth is being explained to him. What does he decide to do with the very words of Jesus?

When someone is born again, having the Spirit of God living in him, what is supposed to happen? There is supposed to be a change that takes place. You become a new creation, not an old one. Many times that does not happen overnight. Conversion experiences are all over the place. For some people, their behavior changes immediately. With others, that change in behavior takes a while. The issue is, if you are in Christ, then you will never be happy in your old life style. If you are, then something is wrong with you.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Salvation is Eternal Life in Jesus

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 39 (07-01-19)

Bob George continues sharing from the gospel of John. He shared about how the disciples waited in Galilee to receive the promised Holy Spirit. That day they were born again. When they received the Holy Spirit, they were changed men. Before they were once cowardly and fearful, hiding in a room fearing for their lives, and now they are preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ boldly before men. There are those in the crowd who were drawn to hear the teachings of Jesus. So too was Nicodemus, a religious Pharisee. Unlike the other Pharisees, he wanted to know the will of God. Nicodemus had said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.” The other Pharisees were like Communists or politicians of today, not wanting to hear truth, but just spin a story. They hated Jesus without reason. Jesus came full of grace and truth. This is very evident in John 8 in how he restores a woman caught in adultery. The Pharisees set her up in order try to trap Jesus in his words and see what Jesus would do.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

A Closer Look Bible Studies

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P438 (5-09-19)

Bob addressed several questions often asked by people even today. Is tithing for today? What about Melchizedek? Does the example of Abraham “tithing” to Melchizedek mean that we should tithe today? If I committed adultery that resulted in divorce, is it okay for me to marry again? Should we celebrate certain Jewish holidays, such as the feast of first fruits, or Pentecost? What should we do about certain things that are not clear in scripture, such as certain topics that do not really have sufficient information and tend toward speculation? Should women serve in the military? Can a woman be a pastor? What is the role of men and women in the home? Are their roles different? What does it mean for a woman to submit to her husband?

Erwin from Vancouver, British Columbia

Erwin called about the importance of Pentecost and asked when we should be celebrating it.

Pentecost occurred fifty days after the resurrection of Christ Jesus. Pente means fifty. So fifty days following the the resurrection of Christ Jesus. This would fall in April. For the birth of Christ, there is some speculation. But the resurrection lines up with the feasts.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is the Initiator

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P433 (4-19-19)

These callers called in to the original People to People radio program Bob George was on for over 30 years. Most of the questions were to get clarification of truth on some commonly misunderstood passages of scripture. Laurie asked, “Where do you place Melchizedek in Hebrews 6:16?” Oftentimes by simply reading the verses before and after a scripture that is unclear to you, you can discern what is important to understand in a passage. We often want to focus on a very narrow point rather than get the spiritual truth that Jesus wants you to know. Bob emphasized that Hebrews is about explaining the superiority of Jesus Christ. To the Jew, there is no one greater than Abraham. Hebrews clears this matter up by explaining that Melchizedek is greater than Abraham and Jesus s greater than everyone.

Edwin asked a very common question, typical of those who are new believers or those improperly instructed from religious teaching. He asked what is the difference between baptism of water and baptism of the Holy Spirit. By studying the scriptures the answer is very clear. John the Baptist even spoke of two baptisms in Luke 3:15-17.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
