The root cause of marriage is people trying to get a need met from the spouse for love and acceptance. Those are things only God can give you. So when a spouse expects this to be met by her mate then that drains him of energy and puts a strain and burden on the marriage. Such was the case with Katie who called. She called with great emotional pain, having been married for two years but currently separated from her husband for three months now. She also was worried about her future and said she was trying to think positively.

Bob addressed several truths for her to grab a hold of. It is not a matter of thinking positively on a situation or your circumstances but thinking truthfully and realistically. A very common concern people have, and a very important concern, is doubt of their salvation. You are either ignoring the life that is in you or you do not have that life in you. The first Larry that called had this concern. After listening to Bob share truth, he concluded that he did not think he had the life of God living in him. He was not certain he had ever invited the life of God to come into him. He was diagnosed as bipolar by secular psychologists and had been drinking for over 20 years and has now found himself in a mental hospital. Is there hope for him? For you? Of course there is. The problem is really with his heart and his thinking. But even now, I know that whatever you ask will be done.” Here we come to see more about the person of Jesus. When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. Jesus is a real person with a heart. Jesus, being God in the flesh, was at His Father’s side, creating all that exists, the world we see and all of mankind. Mankind was designed to be created with the Spirit of God living in him. Here he is among his own creation. Imagine God weeping at the fall of man, seeing what was intended in his creation, knowing how man was designed to function, destroyed in a moment by the cunning of Satan, once known as Lucifer, a fallen angel, who has become the father of lies and has deceived man and has him bound in sin and death. Bobby called to comment on how sad it is when so many people listen to false teachers, like the Kenneth Copeland‘s. Bob commented that the real issue is where are people going to spend eternity. False teachers have just enough truth to draw people in to listen but intermixed with so much garbage that messes them up for the rest of their life. Is that just like Satan, who is really the one behind this great deception. Bob then addressed the real issue that each person needs to ask himself, “am I saved or am I not saved?” Bob then explained from Hebrews 10:26 what sin keeps someone from being saved from death and the real need of man to have new life in Christ. Bob explained that Jesus death on the cross is when the sins of the entire world was taken away. That does not mean the whole world is saved. Bob received calls from several callers, asking common questions asked in the world still today. Danny asked, “Do you believe in the Trinity?” John asked, “What does Romans 8:17 mean that ‘we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory’?” Sam essentially asked, “What about the person who has never had the opportunity to hear the gospel message?” You may have heard a similar question, “What about the heathen in Africa?” From the scriptures, Bob explains the Trinity, that God is the Father, God is the Son and God is the Holy Spirit but there is only one God; about the sufferings of Christians, that we do not look for suffering but sufferings will inevitably come, and that there is no person who has not heard but even if there was, we leave that decision to God, who will do what is right in accordance with who He is, a perfectly loving and just God.

Sam also asked a more specific question about the Muslim who has never heard, since he was just raised Muslim all his life. So many people are in bondage due to error, whether from legalism or from false teaching or harsh, condemning words they believed to be true. Todd expressed the error he has heard from Baptist churches, that is really double talk, that only leads to being unstable in all your ways and living a defeated life. How can someone say you have to confess your sins to keep in fellowship with God and also say all your past, present and future sins have been forgiven? There is so much incorrect teaching from a poor translation of 1 John 1:9 and from passages in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, where people do not understand the difference between the Old Covenant that the Jews and Jesus lived under and the New Covenant that Jesus spoke about. Because of such error, people are living defeated lives and certainly not the abundant life Jesus promised. Salvation is also not properly taught or understood.
