Synopsis

Many people think God grades on a curve, for they reason, that after all nobody is perfect, so you just do the best you can. Others believe that you have to keep short accounts with God to keep in fellowship or in relationship with God, and others go to a confession booth to get their sins forgiven. But all of this is people relying on their own understanding, not acknowledging God, so that He can make their paths straight. So people who do not know God, what do they do? They form a religion. They develop a system that they think will take care of their sins since they know they cannot keep the demands of the law. It makes no difference whether you say you are Protestant, Catholic or something else.

So let us rely not on our understanding but look at what God has to say on the matter. Certainly God knows what we need. Why would he go through the trouble of sending His Son from heaven to come here to earth to die on a cross? Synopsis

We are continuing in our study on Faith, Hope and Love. Now, in regards to belief and faith, they are different. Belief is based on what is in your head, information, but faith is what you put in your heart, a conviction you live by, and is based on truth. Belief is memorizing something, and even talking about it, but it would be like a parrot merely repeating what it heard. Now faith is a conviction of the heart, with solid convictions formed in you. Faith produces attitudes of the heart. You can place your faith on either a faulty foundation or a firm foundation. If you see a broken chair, you know it will not hold you up. If you see a solid chair, you can place your faith by sitting down on that chair. Your faith is made evident by your action. You live by your faith, the firm convictions and attitudes formed in you by what you know to be true, and are persuaded of and convinced of.

You are growing in grace, but you sense in your Spirit that you are not really experiencing all that God wants for you. You read about the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-24, and you ask yourself, “Am I really experiencing those things in my life?” If you are not, you ask yourself, “Why not? What is preventing me from experiencing what is truly life; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self control?”

Could it be you are looking in the wrong places? Could it be that you are still thinking like the world thinks, that money will buy you happiness? Synopsis

This blessed hope is that what we hold onto, the truth we have heard from God and have put our faith in. This faith and love spring from the hope that is stored up for you. When you know someone who loves you deeply and perfectly, then you trust what He says is true. God has made known to us that He has taken away all our sins, that He has prepared a place for us and that He has already seated us in the heavenly places with Him. There is this hope, a certainty, a fulfilled promised, of being made complete in Christ. Christ will never leave you or forsake you. He has made every provision for you, both now and in a new permanent residence of heaven where there is no more sorrow, sickness, pain, sin or death. We have everything when we are in Christ. That is the blessed hope.

Jesus Christ truly is our only hope. No one can live the Christian life. We were never designed to lean on our own understanding. That is how denominations start, with all its various ideas made up by men. We were designed to acknowledge Him, to have the Holy Spirit of God living in us. Yet, we were born without the Spirit of God living in us. That is why God sent His Son to rescue us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. We were without hope, without God in our lives. We could not function as God intended. We were bound up in sin and death, to forever be separated from God if we remain in the state we are in, dead spiritually.

God sent Jesus to die on a cross to take the punishment of death for us. Only He was without sin. Only He had a life to lay down. Only He could be raised from the dead, for He had no sin of His own. Synopsis

This gospel of God’s grace, of Christ in you and you in Christ, your only hope, is nothing new. It has been preached by the apostles, and by men from generations past. Bob happened to find a book written by a missionary to India around 1929, that his wife Amy found, where the same truth he has been preaching has been preached. It is so encouraging to hear. God raises up men to proclaim truth, teachers na evangelists and missionaries, so that people may know God and His Son, Jesus Christ, to know eternal life.
