Bob George sometimes received calls from people who have a general question concerning a scripture that seems out of place and does not make sense in reference to the totality of other scriptures. They call to ask Bob for his understanding. Bob addressed a question by Larry to explain Mark 16:6. Sometimes just common sense can get you through a scripture’s intended meaning. We should not drink poison or drink poison thinking we will not be harmed. Bob also explained how a translation can have a passage that is not in the original manuscripts and to take that into consideration when studying God’s word.

Other times people call just to thank Bob for resources received to share with others so as to grow and be encouraged in the faith. Such was the case with Ted who called thanking Bob for bible study materials he received, such as “Classic Christianity” and “Victory over Depression” that he shared with men he was deployed with in Iraq.

Ephesians 1:15

Bob introduces the topic of being created anew, when someone is born again spiritually. When someone is born again, the Holy Spirit takes residence in you and all things become new. Bob shares from Ephesians 1 and 2 and explains this faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the same faith available to both the Jews and the Gentiles, by which all men are made acceptable to God.

To better explain this concept of both the Jew and Gentile being saved the same way, Bob provides background information on the lifestyle and thinking of the Gentile world in the time period of Paul’s visitation to Ephesus. The Gentile world today is not like what it was like thousands of years ago. Today’s Gentile world is in general still a moral and decent people and quite a contrast to the goddess worship and temple prostitution practiced by those Gentiles in days gone by. Today that moral decency is fading away. Classic Christianity Radio – Heirs of the Promise Part 1 (2-18-19)

Bob shares a message from Ephesians that, as Gentiles, together with the HEBREWs we are heirs of the promise. In part 1 on this topic, Bob shares how to properly discern context from reading Ephesians. So often people read one passage and come to false conclusions about election and predestination. Looking closely at transition words like “Therefore” are clues to the theme or purpose of writing. However, punctuation and chapter divisions can be put in the wrong places. Oftentimes people form incorrect doctrines out of the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and the book of Acts, which are historical recording of events that happened but are not for forming doctrine. The epistles of Paul, like his letter to Ephesians, contain doctrine, yet even then wrong conclusions are drawn. Read the entire letter over and over again and look for the overall meaning and then let the Holy Spirit teach you. It is not the word that sets you free but the truth of the word, the meaning of the word of God, that sets you free. The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but people are tested by the praise they receive.

Many callers today called to thank Bob George for explaining truth. Bob responded in such grace and shared how he was in the crucible of testing throughout his ministry. Bob shared with humility and reiterated the main point that truth is what sets us free and error is what binds us, and really not any more complicated than that. Bob admitted where he did not know something and showed a teachable and humble spirit. For he himself, as we all are, are growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are all continually being renewed in our minds by the Holy Spirit who lives in us and guides us into all truth, and that will continue until the day we die.
