We Have Peace With God in Jesus

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P54 (08-19-20)

Synopsis

It is hard to understand the love of God when you see such prevalent evil all around, whether flaunted on television, presenting homosexuality as glorious, promoting a drag queen in teaching children in a library, or seeing people knocking down monuments, rioting in the city, and seemingly for no reason shoot a little boy in the head. So often people blame the wrong person for our problems, as in those who blame white supremacy or the police for our problems, and it seems God always gets the blame for something He never did.

The fact of the matter is that God is love. That depravity of man, that sin that is in man broke His heart. He knows what sin does to a person, to a city and to a country. It destroys all that He intended for man to be and have, to be able to respond to His love. No matter what the sin, whether a lie, worry, homosexual perversion or murder, it is sin. The root of all sin is unbelief in Jesus.

We were all born in unbelief, already under condemnation of … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

In Jesus There is no Condemnation

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P53 (08-18-20)

Synopsis

Let us focus on this aspect of faith, this access to this grace in which we, who are in Christ, now stand. We know that anything which is not of faith is sin. Sin is what caused our death, but through faith in Christ Jesus, we were born again. The message of the gospel is life in Christ Jesus. It encompasses the totality of what Christ Jesus accomplished for us through His death, burial and resurrection, ultimately leading us to place our faith in His provision and receive eternal life, the life of Christ living in you.

Many of you have heard justification expressed as meaning just as if you had never sinned. That is part of justification, but there is more to justification than dealing with sin. The removal of sin did not save us. That is what prepared us for life to be given and for life to be received.

Dealing with sin is really what reconciliation is, which is what God did for us by sending His Son to shed His blood on a cross to take away the sins of the world. … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

When You See Jesus You See God The Father

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P52 (08-17-20)

Synopsis

We cannot manufacture love. God is Spirit, God is love, and love is a fruit of the Spirit and that can only be produced by the Spirit. So whoever has the Spirit living in Him knows love. As you come to fuller understanding of what you already have in Christ Jesus, you are then compelled to depend on Him, resulting in your love for Him, as evidenced when you show love to one another.

John 13:34-35
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

So often we think we are the initiator and God must respond to us. But that in reverse order. When we pray, we think if we get enough people together praying that God is obligated to answer us. But, that is not true. Yes, we can make our requests be made known to God, with thanksgiving, with open hands, but to expect God to act when we do our “name it and claim … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

God is Creator We are Responders

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P51 (08-12-20)

Synopsis

How then is the Christian life to be lived? Can we live it? Not in the energy of our flesh. Not by what we do, or by trying to love or be a loving person. It is so vitally important to understand who God is, to perceive Him correctly. We must know that we are created beings, and as created beings, we respond to the one who created us. But how we respond is in direct proportion of what we perceive or know God to be like.

Why do we love? Because He loved us first. Someone says, “Boy, this guy is a legalist, but he loves God.” That is a lie. That is an impossibility. How are you going to respond in love to a God who hates you or disappoints you, or always turns His back on you or is always mad at you or a God who says you must do all these things or you have had it. How are you going to love someone like that? How I respond to God or to others is in direct proportion to how I … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Wants His Love to Flow Through Us

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P50 (08-11-20)

Synopsis

It is so easy to generalize, or put people in categories or boxes. We form conclusions, perceptions of people from misinformation or no information. So what happens? I am going to respond through that perception, instead of listening. The issue is what does a person say? I cannot match psychology, men are always like this, women are always like that, “my husband is lazy”, “my wife is critical”, or “Oh, he is a Nazarene, so I am not going to talk to him” against the word of God but I can match what they say up against the word of God just like I can match a preacher or myself up against it. So if I take time to listen to what the person says and match what is said against what God says, now, I am dealing with what is being said instead of a false perception of something. A false perception will produce an adverse response. Why do we have bad responses to each other, in marriage or business? False perception of each other.

So what is the answer to these altercations and confrontations, … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is Above All

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P49 (08-10-20)

Synopsis

If we do not love then we are a noisy, clanging gang. You can do all kinds of activity, good things even, persevering in the faith, calling out false apostles, proclaiming truth, but if you have not love, then that accomplishes nothing. Let us ponder over those passages in 1 Corinthians 13, Revelation 2 and the story of Martha and Mary in Luke 10.

Sometimes we have a speck in our own eye and we just do not see ourselves as God sees what is going on inside us. That is why God disciplines those he loves. That is why in Revelation, we read about God’s correction and rebuke of those leaders of those churches. He wants us to bear fruit, and that only comes by remaining attached to the vine, receiving instruction from the head, who is Christ Jesus.

Man looks on the outside, but God looks on the heart. What are our motives for doing the things we do, the church activities, the preaching to crowds, and being about nickels and noses rather than teaching truth, or getting people involved in programs and activities, … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
