Classic Christianity Radio – The Mystery of God Part 2 (2-12-19)

Bob George provides insights on the subject of the mystery of God from God’s word. It pleased God to make known to you and me the mystery of His will. The Greek word for mystery is Mysterion. This is not like a Perry Mason novel. It is a hidden truth chosen at a time to be revealed to you. It is a revealing at a proper time. At the proper time, God chose to reveal truth to us, the born again.

Bob reminds the listener, those who are born again, of our great salvation, of the mercy and grace we received from God when we heard the truth of the gospel and believed. We received mercy when our sins were not counted against us because Jesus paid the punishment of death for sin that we deserved. Jesus died for the sins of the entire world when he shed his blood on the cross 2000 years ago. In Him, we received the forgiveness of sins.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

Classic Christianity Radio – The Mystery of God Part 1 (2-11-19)

Bob George provides insights on the subject of the mystery of God from God’s word. When many people think of the word mystery, they think of a mystery novel or maybe a detective show on television. In a detective mystery, a detective solves a murder from various clues gathered from interviewing suspects or witnesses and investigations surrounding a crime scene. When one thinks of a mystery in the scriptures, look back in the time period of the Jews and the Gentiles in the Old Testament before the cross. What information was known then? What could be known through the prophets and that which was written down through the Jewish scribes? Even though Moses wrote about Christ, many did not fully understand. How could they? There were clues alright but their meaning was hidden. Not until Jesus Christ came and explained what He came to do and then finished the work He said He came to do was this mystery understood. But not until the Holy Spirit came to dwell in men, where truth was made known in the hearts of men, was this mystery made known. Bob answers questions on different heretical teaching in the world today. The callers called to get help in regards to a friend or relative who was caught up in dangerous teaching. Bob addressed the truth from scriptures that exposes the error in the thinking of men. He edifies and strengthens the believers in their faith in Christ and encourages them to hold onto truth and not be unsettled on these things. He points them to resources to help them grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to hold out the word of life to their friends or loved ones as the opportunity comes. Several books that callers thanked Bob for were “Classic Christianity”, “Growing in Grace”, “Complete in Christ”, and “Overcoming Depression”. He particularly recommended “A Scriptural Journey to Discover the Grace of God” to Junior to share with his father who is involved in the Apostolic Church. Other callers had questions on understanding the will of God, the strange teaching of prophesying over someone, the word of faith teaching, and the false teaching that there are apostles today. Bob George answers a call by Lori from Eugene, Oregon. Her first question was about the purpose of the Sabbath, as she was confused on the different passages of scriptures she had been reading.  Bob explained from Hebrews and from Colossians, two passages of scripture that explains the Sabbath in light of the New Covenant of grace. The Sabbath of the Old Covenant was a shadow of the real Sabbath rest in Christ who completed the work he was sent to do. Since Jesus died to take away sins of the world, we, as children of God can rest from works of the law just as Jesus did from his. That is the real and true meaning of the Sabbath rest. Bob explains this concept of this Sabbath rest in Christ in detail.

After asking such a question, she admitted that she was manic depressive. Bob addressed the lie she is believing from the psychological babble of this world. People are depressed because they think depressing thoughts. People are anxious because they think about anxious things of the future. Bob George discusses insights from God’s word. In part two, Bob addressed where true godly enthusiasm comes from, from God in contrast to worldly knowledge or fleshly zeal and the proud heart. He discusses the church, the people of God, who have been strengthened from God to do the work of the ministry, so in all things God will be praised. So God gives people as gifts to the church so that all will grow in maturity in Christ, to the unity in the faith, to the knowledge of the Son of God, and to the full measure of Christ, to know Him, to grasp how great is His love for you. Through God at work within the church, abiding in Christ, the fruit of the Spirit is made manifest. Bob continues teaching from Ephesians concerning the immature church, being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine and deceitful scheming of men. Bob shares about the proper operation of spiritual gifts in the church for building the church up to maturity in Christ. Bob George discusses insights from God’s word. In part one, Bob addressed the laws of love; to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself. Bob explained man’s inability to love, requiring the need to be born again, to be placed into the body of Christ, the true Church, the Ecclesia. In part two of this three part series, Bob addresses the functioning of the church as the people of God, where this love of Christ is to be worked out, so the people of God can grow in maturity to know the fullness of God. Bob explains that the true church is the Ecclesia, the “called out ones”. He explains that the spiritual gifts are people whom God sent to build up the body of Christ, the church. He explains the role of teachers, prophets and apostles in that proper context. In every case, people are to be dependent on the Holy Spirit in them, as a branch on a vine, to do the work of ministry that God has prepared for them to do.
