Synopsis

What is the effect of the word of God on men? When you read the word of God, how is it different from reading another book, one that is written by men? The word of God is God’s word to men to change lives, to set men free. You cannot separate the word of God from the person of God, who is the way, the truth and the life.

The only way to the Father is through Jesus Christ. There is truth that sets men free from bondage to sin and error and lies. That truth is the person of God in Jesus Christ, and has been written down for us, that we may know Him, who is eternal life. In knowing Him, we come to know His thoughts and attitudes of heart. This is a dynamic relationship with the living God, and we get to know Him, who is true, through His word that He has given to us, as we rely on Him to teach us all that He has freely given us, as a born again child of God.

Oftentimes we read about the Pharisees or Judas Iscariot, and we might think we would never be like them. But, do you get caught up in the present affairs of this world, of unfolding events like you read about in Revelation. Instead of keeping your focus on Christ, you want to take matters into your own hands. Well, what if Jesus was walking here today, and you were so focused on your own agenda, to make America free. You do not like the way events are unfolding. So you let anger creep inside of you, and you decide to take matters into your own hands. Synopsis

A question commonly brought up by many, many people is about their fear of losing salvation. People who ask that question do not know what salvation is. If you were to ask people, “What is salvation? What does it mean to you?”, then nine times out of ten you will get the answer back, “Jesus died for my sins.” That is not what salvation is.

Salvation is receiving life. That is why the apostle Paul said that without the resurrection we are still dead in our sins. The issue is not about sin, but about death and your need for life. Sin caused your death and the wages of sin is death. So what a dead man needs is life, and the only life available to man is the resurrected life of Christ Jesus.

The cross is what Jesus had to do to take away the cause of our death, which is sin. That was what Jesus had to do to prepare us to receive life. Now let us look at this wonderful hope we have. If you ever had to sell your car or house, you want to do so to get a good deal, to exchange something of value, such as a car, that someone else deems valuable. You want the money you receive in exchange for selling your car as more valuable to you than the car. That is a good deal. Now, in Christ, we have an incredibly good deal! We exchanged a few brief years on this earth, allowing Christ to live his life in and through us, and in exchange we will one day be present with the Lord with a new glorious body that never gets old and never dies, and is no longer in the presence of sin, nor will ever experience sorrow, sickness or pain again, and we will forever be with the Lord for eternity. Jesus is Head of the Church

Synopsis

This flesh of ours is so contrary to the Spirit. We are instructed in the scriptures to walk in the Spirit so we do not carry out the desires of the flesh. The flesh likes to be puffed up and so prone to becoming proud. Recall that even the apostle Paul testified of his struggle in the flesh. Because of such divine revelations he received from God, God thought it best that Paul needed to be buffeted by a thorn in the flesh lest he is overcome with pride. Paul prayed three times for this thorn to be removed, but God said “No. My grace is sufficient for you.” So the apostle Paul replied to God, and said, “I delight in my weaknesses for when I am weak then I am strong.” So Paul is exhorting believers to not think more highly of themselves than they ought.
