Bob George shares from Ephesians about being created anew, that both the Jew and the Gentile, as one body in Christ Jesus, are saved the same way.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Bob explains mercy and grace and how God provided both mercy and grace to us in Christ Jesus. God showed mercy when he withheld death from us, who deserved and earned death because of sin. God extended grace to us when he offered eternal life as a gift, something we never deserved and could never earn. Bob then explained the difference between belief and faith. Belief is necessary for faith but is not automatic in the faith. True faith is putting trust in Jesus Christ, in what he accomplished for you in his death, burial and resurrection.

Faith Counting on Christ Alone

Ephesians 1:15

Bob introduces the topic of being created anew, when someone is born again spiritually. When someone is born again, the Holy Spirit takes residence in you and all things become new. Bob shares from Ephesians 1 and 2 and explains this faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the same faith available to both the Jews and the Gentiles, by which all men are made acceptable to God.

To better explain this concept of both the Jew and Gentile being saved the same way, Bob provides background information on the lifestyle and thinking of the Gentile world in the time period of Paul’s visitation to Ephesus. The Gentile world today is not like what it was like thousands of years ago. Today’s Gentile world is in general still a moral and decent people and quite a contrast to the goddess worship and temple prostitution practiced by those Gentiles in days gone by. Today that moral decency is fading away. Bob George continues sharing from Ephesians a mystery that has now been revealed to the Gentiles. In this mystery is the gospel message of God’s grace, applicable to all men, Hebrew and Gentile, that in Christ all will be made holy and blameless before God. The wall of hostility between Hebrews and Gentiles has been set aside.

Romans 3:9-12
9 What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! Bob George continues teaching from the book of Ephesians concerning a mystery that the Gentile is saved the same way as the HEBREW, by faith in Jesus Christ. God planned before the creation of the world that in Him we were chosen to be made holy and blameless. Jesus Christ is the object of our faith. Sin entered the world through one man, Adam, and death through sin, so death came to all men because all sinned.

Romans 5:12
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned

Sin, the cause of death, had to be solved for man to have new life, to be made holy and blameless. Only God is perfectly holy and blameless.

Psalm 99:5
Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.

So what man needs is the very life of God. The problem of sin was solved by the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Now, man is free to come to Jesus Christ for life. Classic Christianity Radio – Heirs of the Promise Part 3 (2-20-19)

Bob shares that the New Covenant is for us today from Hebrews 10. Now that Jesus shed his blood on the cross, taking all the sins of the world away, the HEBREWs take off the old clothes of the Law and put on the new clothes of Christ’s righteousness. The Gentiles, who never had the Law, just put on the new clothes of Christ’s righteousness. For Christ has been raised to new life, and in Him is forgiveness, redemption, holiness, and righteousness. So those who put their trust in Christ’s finished work, they have been made complete in Christ, with His laws written in their hearts by the Holy Spirit. So under the New Covenant of God’s amazing grace, we live in the higher laws to love God and to love our neighbor by the power of the Holy Spirit within us.
