Synopsis

There are so many times that we hear, or have said things ourselves, that are just not true. Whether we are a new believer, not having spent enough time in the word, or are not getting in the word, to get to know the Agape love of God, we have not fully grasped what we already have in Him. We do not know He is there. We might know in our head, can quote scriptures from memory, but we do not know what that means, for what is in our head has not gone down into our heart. So there is a maturing process that God works out in us to know that which He has freely given us. But we have this promise, that God will complete that which He began in us.

First there is natural birth, and we are born in Adam, dead spiritually. Even Adam was created out of the dust, created dead, until God breathed in him the breath of life. It is so wise to listen. Everyone should be slow to speak and quick to listen. As you do, you gain insight into what a person is really struggling with and get a sense of the attitudes of their heart. At times, you do not know how to answer, and so biblical counseling is the best advice you can offer. But the one person who knows you better than anyone else is the Lord Jesus Christ. Many times, we contribute to our own problems. We do not inquire of the Lord. We are vulnerable to making mistakes because we have been through a previous bad marriage, and are lonely. So, at times we make dumb choices, and enter another difficult marriage. But in all these things, we do not live under the law but under grace. In Christ, there is always hope. Synopsis

People often call to get answers on topical questions of life. Sometimes when they go to a certain denomination to visit, or have been there awhile, things just do not make sense. What is this about receiving a second baptism of the spirit or having to speak in tongues in order to be saved? People begin to ask those questions, especially as they begin to grow in the Lord. As you read God’s word, where Paul discusses this topic of tongues in 1 Corinthians, you understand that what people are doing is promoting error and teaching error.

First of all, you cannot get more of the Spirit than what you already have. When you have Christ in you, you have all of Christ and He says He will never leave you or forsake you. The Holy Spirit is sealed in you for the day of redemption. He does not leak out so as if you need to get more. And if He, who is eternal, is in you, then how can you lose what is sealed in you? Synopsis

As you have gone through this definition of love, and asked yourself, “How well am I doing?” I think you will think you will come to the same conclusion I did. I cannot put myself anywhere in that list. That love can only be a definition of God. I must conclude that “I cannot, but God can”. So I turn my focus back on Christ Jesus, and have to rely on Him. I say, “I am weak, but He is strong.” I have to say, “Christ is my life. He is my only hope of glory.”

As I ponder over this, I must ask the Lord to work His way in me, that this love, that is a fruit of the Spirit, is produced in me and through me. Do I keep a record of how someone wronged me, pondering over a painful memory and not letting it go, or bringing it back in my mind, so I am hindered in giving out unconditional love to someone else? Synopsis

We just really do not know what love is, this love of God. We think the opposite of love is hate, but the opposite of love is pride. Pride is what caused the fall of man in the garden of Eden, and what we are naturally born with. Pride seeks to go its own way, is not teachable, and is in essence, self seeking. This sin nature is what you see in a child that will holler and scream until he gets his own way. That has to be trained out of a child.

And, then people in the Christian world tend to think of love as what you do on Sunday morning, when you smile real big and greet someone in the pew next to you, but then promptly forget his name or anything he said, or what you boast about when you tithe, have your quiet time, read your bible, or pray all the time. That is not love. Jesus Forgave The Sins of The World

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P40 (07-20-20)

Synopsis

In this subject of Agape love, that is love that can only come from God and what God produces in us and through us as we rely on HIm, as we rest in Him like a branch on a vine. Our natural self, that sin-indwelling flesh, that Agape does not come out of us unless we are depending on Him, walking in the Spirit and not in accordance with the flesh. Of course, we have been in the flesh, our mind being so long in this worldly thinking, that we had since we were born with this sin-indwelling flesh. So there is the renewal of the mind that has to occur, and will continue to occur until the day we die. So we learn how to have our minds renewed and we put no confidence in the flesh.

So what happens when we put confidence in the flesh? We live in bondage to sin and death, even if, or though, you are not under that any more, when we do not have to. If error is what binds you, truth is what sets you free.
